Do you not mean mccoist to hold talks with 'WALTER' after all that team today was playing the walker way not least the playing of a right winger on the left of the park. Walter better get ally sorted out pronto.......

we desperately need more attacking players ally to busy concentrated on defence
Agree0

Having watched yesterday I really hope this is true. Why we started with Ortiz on the left and Davis on the right is beyond me, McCulloch and Edu couldn't create anything never mind run the centre of midfield. We need a further striker to support Jelavic, and a creative midfielder to support Davis. Let's not talk about the defense though, we need some new blood there, but let's lay off Broadfoot, Whittaker was shocking and he wasn't injured for most of last season.

It is obvious after 2day that the club is in desperate need of new players. 1 or 2 CBs, a left winger, a CM and possibly a new striker. In my opinion, 2day was a let down but McCoist was playing players out of their natural positions. Davis is very good at CM so McCoist plays him in RM. Ortiz didn't do well because he was playing on the left, whereas his natural position is on the right. Edu was dreadful as always but the saves MacGregor made make me really glad tht we have him 4 as long as we possibly can. Jelavic first game as number 9 and failed to make any real impact which was disappointing. And finally Broadfoot? What was Ally thinking? He's bad at the best of times at the RB position but to play him in the most important part of the defense. The team lacked leadership in the 1st half and in my opinion should have won it in the 2nd half through either Naismith, Jelavic or Papac as they all had good chances. All in all, I'd say I am not worried as I am sure the team will bounce back after the introduction of some new signings. Perhaps Cuellar, the Hungarian or the Romanian can command the team and keep the formation together.

We were obv watching a diff game i.thought edu was superb compared to last season, agree we lacked leadership tho.
Agree0

What game were you watching I know our team was under par and I agree we need a few more bodies but I thought Edu was good today probably the best player along with McGregor Davies came on a game once being slotted back in central
Agree0

I also thought Edu was sharp, composed, industrious and actually, our best player today.
Agree0
Disagree0
Yea agree that edu was better thn last year but do u think he should really get the captain's armband because i felt there was no command and leadership from the game.
Agree0

Edu wasnt captain ya tit it was davis and afot it shud have been given to mcculloch as he talk s more to the team

No disrespect mate but it seems like you were watching a different game from me.
I felt all in all we played not to bad but the Jambos were on the ball. Your conclusions seem a bit disrespectful to hearts, and Edu who was clearly one of or best players.

Edu was the best player on the park yesterday, clearly u just have something against the guy.
Agree0
Disagree0
The guy is wrong regarding. Edu, but I agree with pretty much everything else he says. I can't believe you guy's are all having a go at him, because Walter who knew a CB or 2 would have put anybody at CB ahead of broadfoot. And why put our most creative player on the right ?. My only. Surprise is that super didn't play kerkar at left back again ( perish the thought ).
Super. Should stop trying to be clever by trying to put square pegs into round holes, and he'll be fine.

edu was solid, awryt with the ball but he was the first one to chase nd run back

Right watched the game yesterday the frst half was an utter shambles i dsagree with the comments made about jelavic thought he played well showed his sheer class with some of the touches he made lets get real folks he never got any feed like we were seeing at the end of last season in this game. naisy best player on pitch but cant believe he missed the howler in front of goal. BROADFOOT AKA BUCKLEFOOT get rid of him he is a shambles every time he touches the ball my arse twitches with sheer fright. its obvious all our midfield except davis is not attack minded enough all the same sort of players no pace no excitement just hoof up the pitch and hope felt sorry for ortiz bieng played at the left wing when he is obviuoslly a right man sorry guys hope u agree but im not a happy ranger hopefully we get the right guys in for the team and dont say oh but we won the league 3 years in a row and will again which i hope will happen of course but things need refreshed im afraid. dont care if this message gets stick guys but its reality. we wasted 14k a week on a 41 year old defender that should hang his boots up when we could of spent that money on another player no offence davy love u to bits but its tme to go old fella. mon the gers sorry if this offends any of us just my opinion guys think about it

Edu was ten times better than some of his performances last season.

I must've been watching a different game from everyone today. I was actually quite pleased with Edu, McCulloch was abysmal, he sits deeps and doesn't break the play up and can't create. Davis was well below par, who voted for him to be MOTM? Whittaker has shown that he isn't worth £20k+ a week. Naismith was great but missed too many chances, having said that he took his goal well. As far as Ortiz goes, anyone criticizing him, he is a right footer being played on the left wing so needs to cut in, not his fault. He put a great ball in Naismith should have scored and did well to play the ball across when Jelavic dummied and again Nasimith should have scored. Hearts are easily the best outside the OF, but we desperately need a partner for Jelavic and a new CB. The less said about Broadfoot the better.

PS. It's the first game of 38, a long way to go.
Believable16

Seems fair to me. Was always quite irritating when walter played various players out of their more comfortable positions. Hopefully ally kicks that habit

Govanfr I WATCHED THE SAME GAME AS YOU Totally spot on in what you say.Yorkielad
Agree0

I thought Edu was passable. His touch let him down on several occasions, but there were no blunders, like last season.
Davis played a solid game. He was up, across and back(to help out a weak McCulloch), and yes he probably did deserve MOTM.
McCulloch, as I said above, was weak. Poor passing and positional play.
As you said, when Ortiz turned in, he made some lovely passes. I'd like to see him start on the right with Gregg Wylde on left wing.
Davis needs a solid partner in mid. Edu isn't what we need in games like Hearts.
Agree0
Disagree0
Edu was different class to to Mculloch, apart we were s**t.
Agree0
Disagree0
I also thought that Edu played well. Broadfoot needs to go and davis should always play CM not RM
Agree0
Disagree0
Watched the game today on tv and must agree that we dont have enough drive coming from the centre of the park. Mcculloch and edu don't offer enough when playing together especially when things don't come off from steven Davis. If we are going to play Jelavic up front on his own we need players getting beyond him and offering a goal threat. I can only see Naismith helping out on that role. We need a central midfieder bursting beyond the stiker and one holding. Don't see McCulloch getting there and Edu is a bit of a bombscare. Dont want to criticise Ortiz too much as he will take a bit of time to get used to the pace of the game. He has a good touch and keeps possion fairly well but is short on the explosive pace that our pedestrian midfield (edu /Mcculloch) need to change the game. Not sure what has happened to Jamie Ness as he may be able to do a job in here along with Davis. Wlyde did well when coming but again is inexperienced and needs to understand when best to go by a defender or when best to cut inside...i truly hope he can develop as he has the pace to terify defenders.
Today's result is not the end of the world as Hearts will threaten others but going forward we certainly need a couple of bodies. Broadfoot is at best, cover for the right back slot...John Sutton tore him a new a***hole today playing at CH, he pulled him all over the park, won everything in the air and held him off like he was a bouncer outside an under age disco Pleas Carlos come back we need you and if you can bring a creative winger you we would be grateful.

THE BOY ORTIZ IS SPANNISH AND YOU USUALLY DONT GET s**tE SPANNISH PLAYERS SO PLEASE GIVE HIM CHANCE AGREE WITH THE BROADFOOT COMMENT THE LESS SAID THE BETTER , ITS ONLY ONE GAME BUT NEED TO HELP JELIVIC WITH A GOOD STRIKER, WHAT ABOUT YOUNG MURPHY AT MOTHERWELL.

If McCulloch is the holding player is he also to be he playmaker.....what is edu's skill he flirts between all tasks without a forward ball in his locker and does all tasks without commitment or urgency, flatters to deceive at best refuses ball under pressure but continually passes the ball to others how are under pressure.

Mate, as for Ortiz, he's a professional football player and plays as a winger If I got paid, Say 5-10 grand a WEEK Id be played where I'm told to, if you're on the left wing use your left foot, that young RB had an easy day against him. As for Whittaker OMG who the f*** gave him a 5 years 20k a week deal? He's utter garbage, I've been saying it for years.

Agree0

Typical start of the season performance.Fair play to Hearts though they played well. No need to panic fellow bears- five or six players on their way.Yorkielad
Agree0
Disagree0
The fact is that unless coisty drastically enhances the squad then we are in big trouble. apart from davis, the midfield offers nothing.edu yet again was an empty jersey and mcculloch is sooo average. there's no width in the team. we need minimum of six players(which is unlikely to happen). and one other thing, tuesday night will be a struggle bearing in mind malmo are almost midway through their season and must not be underestimated.
Agree0
Disagree0
I agree that they need time - but when you play for Rangers u have to hit the ground running - I don't think we will win the league with the players we have - but if we sign another 3 players - midfield - defence & a striker then we might put up a better fight - I am not being negative just realistic

I fully agree, Rangers will come good, I reckon Ortiz will be a star this season, let's get behind our team not slate them.
Agree0
Disagree0
Shouldn't expect anything different, only difference was Ortiz, other than that its the same lot that played some really poor footy last season, yes we won trophies but some of the footy was horrendous.
Agree0
Disagree0
Ortiz will never do in that position.....he is/was as quick as the full back, but you need to be quicker to get crosses in, he can't all of a sudden become faster.......he tracks back well and might do well left mid in certain games, but as a winger offensively, he is no good.....can't give him a chance in that position, because he will not ''come good'' there, he can't go past the defender

I agree, we need to give the team a chance. People should stop spitting there dummies out and have some faith in our team. WATP

Naismith played on the right for us last season & was excellent at breaking into the box for us & scoring if not creating plenty of chances. It was only when he went back to the same position he looked lively & on another day could have had a hat-trick. Feel sorry for ortiz who was hung out to dry, left wing has been a problem position to us for a few seasons so what do we do put ortiz out there who had to keep cutting in on his right foot. Only when we put davis central & naismith right did we look threatining as mcculloch & edu bring nothing to the table offensively

Think you guys are being harsh on Edu, he was pretty good today i thought, hard in the tackle, winning headers and 100% commitment. He wasn't outstanding but he was good...more than could be said of ortiz, whittaker or broadfoot. defenders are clearly essential but think we should try get bedoya in now to support jelavic. There's to much defensiveness about the midfield with edu and mcculloch.

Edu was decent today I thought, the whole team didn't play well, but I would like to see a couple more subs on, Hemmings etc and chased it with a 433 or something. Need bedoya now, the Romanian CB on his way to. I think if we get a striker and another attacking midfielder we will be good

McCoist hopeful on Cuellar
Ally McCoist remains optimistic of Carlos Cuellar returning to Rangers as negotiations continue over the Aston Villa defender.
The Scottish champions have spent much of the summer pursuing the Spaniard, who left Ibrox for Villa Park in 2008.
Negotiations are slow-moving, but McCoist insists they are still ongoing after the two clubs agreed a fee for the 29-year-old.
And the manager added that the transfer is not an immediate priority as Cuellar is currently recovering from injury.
Ticking along
McCoist said: "Andrew Dickson (head of football administration) spoke to Carlos' agent either last night or this morning.
"That's ticking along. That's not of immediate importance due to the fact that he can't play for a number of weeks with his injury anyway.
"So, although it is important to us, it's not of immediate importance.
"It's much the same. I am optimistic generally speaking and I just have to wait and see."

Cuellar has a legal issue (Loyalty Payment) with Villa to sort out first that's what's taking the hold up. That's why he's also not in the papers saying he wants to sign for us.

Just heard on Xfm News Centre (source) which is very reliable that Cuellar will most likely join Glasgow Rangers, It mentioned that although they paid 7.8m for him in 2008 they would be looking for around 3m, which probably means 2.5m, Rangers official bid was only 1.5m and not 2m as we were led to believe and nothing was accepted, However a close source of the station has said RANGERS are believed to be back with a bid to secure the player. Aston Villa currently looking for a replacement. {Ed047's Note - Rangers have had a bid accepted. It's up to the player now.

Carlos Cuellar has agreed to join Rangers, but he has a clause in his contract for a payment from aston villa and is waiting until Aston-villa pay him what he is owed.Rangers to become some sort of feeder club for Spurs and are getting Pavyluchenko in a loan deal.

Every week we wait on him signing saves us 25k. he will not be fit for 4 weeks. {Ed047's Note - Coisty knows that, that is why he isn't rushing it apparently

A feeder club is for sending out young talent for game time, not for sending players worth 10 mil that have played over 200 hundred games - get real harrys not an idiot

Why the hell would Aston villa become a feeder club for spurs. they are almost on a level par you idiot

The Sun's the best paper for Rangers news ffs, the daily rhebel's the one tae avoid {Ed047's Note - agree with Ed 025. The other day's back page - Cardiff 0 Celtic 1. Cardiff 2 Rangers 0 (referring to Miller & Conway) Says it all.

Why not the sun its the record that prints lies about rangers. The best info about rangers from a media outlet is stv website because the bbc are painting a bad picture of rangers everytime there scottish news programme is on.

I agree ppl doubted whyte had any £ to begin with when we missed danns, hemed and Conway.
Again the doubters complained when we signed Ortiz at 500k saying this way all we had. An from the reports I think it's a good signing for such a versatile player.
Yeah ally and a few others have mentioned well no more in 24/48 hrs. Tho I'm sure that they were prob in a better position but it all happens behind the scenes.
Now we've signed wallace n bedoya and we've the bid out for Carlos and chasing about 4 others and the doubters who were talking bout not renewing there season tickets are excited
If whyte hadn't joined who knows where our stars would've been or if we wud still be operating as Murray wouldve put us into administration.

STOP GRAMMAR TIME
Looks like you turned your back on the education system, what was the point in posting this drive?
Agree0

Lets get this straight just because some people come on here and state their concerns regarding what's going on at ibrox means they are not loyal rangers supporters
let me tell you this son i bought my first Season ticket in 1970 half way through Celtics dominance leading them to 9 in a row ive seen owners, managers and players come and go ive followed Rangers all over Europe home and away i live and breath Rangers.
so in doing all this i think i have earned the right to praise or criticise our club just the same as everyone else who goes to a game, buys a shirt or pays for sky subscription to watch the game. i will not be led down the path blindly by people like Mr Whyte as far as im concerned the jury is still out on him.
up until now Mr Whyte has not done a great deal to dispel my fears for the club tying up our good players like Davis etc and the signing of young Wallace is a good bit of business both in a football sense and business sense not buying Kenny Miller makes good business sense as he will have no sell on fee but in my opinion not good football sense as he would prob get us to CL proper.
i dont think many of you guys out there realise what will happen if our club loses the tax case we will go into administration and when our assets were stripped and sold of HMRC would get nothing a company owned by Mr Whyte would be first preference to be settled up there for securing any investment he has made which up untill now is realy nothing as the money that is being spent just know has been secured on season ticket money WHICH I HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO SINCE THE 70s so dont tell me im not a loyal supporter.
everybody has hailed Mr Whyte as the new messiah but lets not forget David Murry in all this this guy spent over 50 million of his own money on our club not to mention the 6 million he spent on buying the club then sold it to mr Whyte for £1 yes Mr Murry made mistakes but everything he done was in the best interest of the club and some of the stick this man has had to endure from loyal rangers fans is a disgrace. if i had won the 161 mil lottery money and said to Mr Whyte i will by the club of you for the £1 you paid totaly wipe out the debt owed bye the club and put 50 mil in rangers account to be used by the manager for the next five years what do you think he would have said.
the jury is still out with mr whyte if he does a quarter for our club as David Murry did then he will be a hero in my eyes but as i said the jury is still out.
BUT IN THE MEANTIME PUT YOUR GOB IN NEUTRAL AND STOP TELLING PPL THAT THEY ARE NOT LOYAL SUPPORTERS JUST CAUSE THEY HAVE SOME CONCERNS AND ARE NOT TO AFRAID TO AIR THEM.

Everyone was starting to wonder what whyte was doing until thursday.....so get off your high horses, most poeple were speaking there minds openly doesnt mean we dont love our club passionately. The long contracts were a start, and signings upto know seem to be targets that have been thought through and not panick buys as the unwashed would like us to think, the fact that there has been a constant dialog with the press to inform us whats happening has been refreshing and the money being spent on the ground has been the icing on the cake for me in regards to whether whyte has now won me over...yes were going in the right direction and yes were a spending force in scottish football again all we need now is the lads to keep doing the business on the park and the rest will take care of itself......desmond whoever better have deep- pockets cause he, s gonnae need them that lot were £16 MILLION IN DEPT last year so every year there not in the champions league that depts building so they, ve had there chance to put us to the sword were on the up (just went offf on a rant there) anyway the point is most of us were worried but i think now mr whyte has won us over and now were in unity behind him and ally so lets get 4iar, watp, god save the queen

Oldtime Bear- I've got to agree (DazzaBhoy) Murray dug deep in order to win you 9 in a row, he brought in the best in Britain to acheive that feight. He built Ibrox up to the stadium it is now. And yet he is demonised by every "Rangers supporter".
I also believe Whyte is to be watched, he will not spend a penny of his own money, till he knows the outcome of the tax case. He only bought Wallace to appease fans and has used the Charlie Adam money doing it
Whitaker, McGregor, Davis were all signed up on 5 year deals incase the tax case gives you a huge fine, that way he could ofload they players and get decent fee to pay for tax case bill. Plus Whyte has never fully explained how he wiped the £30 million debt to Lloyds, this is because he never wiped it, the debt is still there but it's in another company. True rangers fans should be wary of this man. And true rangers fans should as you's go on about all the time.....be loyal
Best of luck for next season, We'll still edge it though

Hopefully a striker bit short up front, team looks better with the two signings already, with a few others ta come, goodwillie would be great with jela, healy and beattie ain't the answer
Agree0

Completely agree i don't think healy or beattie will score much if any. I think lafferty might score a few across the season then hit top form near the end but we need a goalscorer/supplier to partner jelavic
Agree0

I think we should give laff a chance he was so outstanding in the last game i would try him and healy has proven himself in Europe but there's a massive question mark over beattie but i don't think he was fit most of last season.

Obviously wont be signing a striker young Kane will just have to step up and play not really fair on the boy but he looks to have talent from glimpses I have seen

Jelavic, lafferty, Naismith n Healy can do a good job for us. I wouldn't rush in for goodwillie. I reckon Cardiff have turned there attention to kenny 'show me the money' miller as goodwillie said I wanna be a rangers legend.

GIVE HEALEY A GO 4 OR 5 GAMES SEE WHAT HE CAN DO BESIDE JELIVIC THAT WAS HOW HE GOT ALL THE BIG TRANSFERS IN HIS CARRIER.

ally mccoist says he will sign 5 more new players. can only guess it will be 2 new centre backs. hopefully cuellar and bartley.
davidson will be signing after the weekend i predict.
i also expect one "exciting" signing to be made before august but will have to wait for CL money to come in before making the move. either estigarribia or verhoek i think.
so thats 4...
who else but david goodwillie. it all depends on his court case as said previously, but he could have to wait till jan to become a ger.
if he doesnt sign this window then expect bedoya to join immediately

What champions league money? wouldnt bank on it unless we buy a proven goal scorer with pace a must for Europe football God only knows were we will get one of them by Monday

Goodwillie would be a gamble with his temper but im sure if his Barrister QC PAUL McBRIDE can get him justice he would be a goal machine for Rangers
Agree0

Haha ppl didn't expect anyone to sign with the contract extensions we've gave our stars. Tho we have went out n signed Ortiz and now Wallace n bedoya. Ally knew cb was our weakest area. So expect at least 2 in.
To the guy looking a striker. U not think jelavic n Naismith aren't good enough to put goals past malmo ? I will be furious if we don't score a good few past them.
We've a star keeper, competion for both full back slots, strong cm players and now some more wide players and a good few strikers. I wud like to see young Kane hemmings {Ed047's Note - careful, don't underestimate Malmo. Well into their season and a better team than Kaunas were.
