Reports from down south are that leacock mcleod will be a rangers player by the end of the window. Anyone know much about this rumour?

27 Jan 2016 09:03:48
I think Keith Jackson tweeted that he was not being brought in for the first team although I don't know much about him.

27 Jan 2016 09:40:46
Yeah not for the 1st team. Means MOH is still on the cards! Fingers Crossed.

27 Jan 2016 10:45:50
Won't be surprised if we sign no one. Warburton will probably leave at the end of the season if king doesn't back him which he isn't doing. Another bunch of false promises by another board.

27 Jan 2016 11:31:57
So you've been reading Boyds piece in the Record, mark?
That is borne of sheer bitterness because King rightly said Boyd and others were a disgrace last season.

27 Jan 2016 11:44:22
Mark you are a funny guy. Warburton didn't have a lot to spend at Brentford either. he enjoys a task, he likes the idea of finding hidden gems, he's not a big spender.

27 Jan 2016 12:24:35
Maybe King told Warburton the true financial details of the club and what he will have available to spend. I think that money will be available to spend in the summer should we get promoted.

27 Jan 2016 13:38:22
King did say that money would be available this transfer window, that now doesn't seem to be the case.

27 Jan 2016 15:26:01
or maybe teams are just wanting more than we are willing to pay?
I noticed Gary McAllister said Rangers will regret losing out on Diagouraga as he's a 'star of the future'. he's 28 years old and just moved from Brentford to Leeds?!?!?!
Was he worth what Brentford were wanting?

27 Jan 2016 15:31:59
Warburton said himself that over the summer, with the exception of Scott Allan, he had gotten everyone we went for. We didn't spend a lot but he identified his targets within the budget he was promised and the club made it happen.

It makes no sense at all for him to have spent months planning for this market unless this is the sort of money he was promised. We are hardly going for superstars. He identified his top 2 targets this window and both are rather modest and so far we have missed out on one and are embarrassing ourself on the other.

Don't get me wrong, this is the most I have enjoyed being a rangers fan for many a year and it's possibly the amount of S***e we have been though over the last few years that has clouded my judgement. But the board needs to back the manager. Warburton has been a breath of fresh air since he has arrived and the thought of him leaving due to lack of backing fills me with dread.

27 Jan 2016 17:12:34
I agree Dunc. It would be a disaster if he left the club and you are also right with the MW philosophy which must be based on principles of having an eye for a player and a bargain. It's all about managing a lean, hungry squad and developing young players like Barrie McKay who now has the potential to earn the club serious money if he moves on to the EPL or wherever. If we can hold onto MW for at least 3 seasons I think the foundations will be there for another bright young manager to take over.

27 Jan 2016 20:36:38
Tounami rumored to be up to 600K with add ons. We got one coming for 30K in the summer. Seems a better deal.

27 Jan 2016 21:34:56
Let's see if MOH arrives. He is wanted, would make a difference and has a massive opportunity to develop under Warburton. He wouldn't cost a lot either.

People seem to be forgetting the promises made by King, presumably because they see him as some sort of saviour. Sorry but I don't see him as much different from other 'bullshitters like Murray right now that never spent a penny of their own money but promised the earth.

I will start trusting him when I see the £30m invested and we have proof that it is his money and not everyone else investment or the clubs own funds.

28 Jan 2016 13:45:29
How much have we spent recently? Two new players this window already, some given new extended contracts, the other two from Accrington on the way. And how much has gone into sorting the backroom staff and coaching side of things? Seems like we are seeing investment. Maybe not what we expected, but it is there.

26 Jan 2016 21:43:53
Leacock Macleod from wolves deal seems to be agreed, never heard much about him but is a winger, maybe suggests that we've missed out on o'halloran for definite.

26 Jan 2016 22:03:30
Mcleod came up last month on trial and scored in an U20s game v airdrie - this info from the interweb - I know hee-haw about him signing -.

26 Jan 2016 22:13:41
I'm not sure if he would jump into the first team or the development group but the rumour is growing right now.

26 Jan 2016 22:29:24
He will go into development squad. Moh may still be on the cards.

26 Jan 2016 22:38:38
Not a player that will make a difference but he will not be expensive and Warburton could improve him.

26 Jan 2016 09:45:15
Linked to Blackburns corry evans.

26 Jan 2016 10:29:06
I think this is hugely unlikely. It seems he signed a new deal recently on 18k/ week.

26 Jan 2016 10:39:09
the can link us to whoever they want if we cannot afford 500k for ohalloran then we could be linked with messi for all i care as we all know its not happening!

26 Jan 2016 11:28:31
Yep. Looking very much that way. I wish Dave hadn't said things like, 'over invest, whatever it takes, ' etc. All that has done is give us an expectation that when our manager has identified a player he wants, you said you will go and get him. So far this has not been proved to be the case. We have so far lost 2 out of the 3 players MW says he wants.
Don't say those type of things if you don't want to be called on them. I'm much happier than I was last year but I now have an expectation given to me by Dave, so either back it up or shut up.

26 Jan 2016 12:26:35
The sending off last night means that we don't have a holding midfield player at the club for the Falkirk game, (even though Halliday was a makeshift in that department until we secured a quality defensive midfield player.

Just a shame that King won't or can't find the money that he promised. His credibility is wearing thin. Only six more days until the transfer window closes!

26 Jan 2016 12:45:09
Think it's a case of fingers crossed and hope we don't get injuries or hit another sticky patch- and hopefully what we have got is enough.

Seems a bit risky to me, given that on occasion we have struggled to break sides down and the fact Hibs are clearly strengthened and breathing right down our necks.

But we don't have the cash, and signing moh is not going to make a massive improvement to the side. No point spending money we don't have on players we don't need. I'm more disappointed at our lack of strategy in terms of recruitment as we need to add quality to the side not numbers.

26 Jan 2016 13:04:29
Let's not forget our scouting network is about 8 weeks old and it will take time. We have the right staff and the correct model in place. We will miss Halliday but Dom Ball or Jordan Thompson should be able to fill in. MW says JT deserves a shot but I would be gobsmacked if he started the Falkirk game. OK he is only 18 but other clubs in our league, and many others, regularly play players of 18/ 19 and I don't see the problem if they are talented enough.

26 Jan 2016 14:10:55
Shiels is s clever player and will slot in for Halliday imo and we will have wee Holt back for the Falkirk game.

26 Jan 2016 11:53:26
Corey Evans is on his way in on a Loan deal, he signed a new contract to 2019 at Blackburn, but has made only 1 appearance this season. He is keen to cement his place in the Northern Ireland team for Euro 2016. Paul Lambert is a great admirer of Warburton's methods and trust him to develop the player further. Helps that all though Lambert played for Celtic he's a life long Rangers fan.

26 Jan 2016 16:40:40
I know you're saying that our scouting network is only two months old. I know where you're coming from but remember that Frank McParland has been doing this for years and years. He doesn't forget players when he moves clubs.

26 Jan 2016 18:19:48
Corey Evans has made 24 apps this season. He played on Saturday v Charlton.

26 Jan 2016 18:43:48
@TheCampbell I don't disagree there but I'm sure Frank McPartland isn't familiar with a budget of approximately zero. And it's probably closer to Absolute Zero! It's all very well identifying talent but you then have to follow up by paying for it.

26 Jan 2016 19:29:52
MW has consistently said he only wants players at the right price. I haven't heard him say that he feels let down, disappointed or betrayed.

It's time that you so called supporters on here took a positive pill and got behind the club and stopped bleating on about impending doom.

Give the team and the board some breathing space and encouragement instead of constantly whining.

Now I'm off my soapbox!

26 Jan 2016 22:57:28
yeah maybe they are looking at the value quoted for the players they have put in bid for and thinkiing is this guy worth double the amount of this guy. i think that they wanted ohalloran as he is a good young scottish player rather than filling the team with english players. doesn't bother me like as long as they are improving the team. but you'd want a few home internationals if your a big team.
