I just don't see how the defoe signing makes sense for us. Ok at home v bottom half clubs when we have all the ball but offer absolutely nothing on days like today. Another striker is a must b4 window closes because one more bsn for alfredo n the league is gone.

I agree mate, I just don’t think Defoe suits the way we play away from home . He is fine in home games against most opposition . I was looking at his goals this season and of the 16 only 2 have came in games we have won by less than 3 . I’m not anti Defoe but I reckon he might be the top earner in our squad and I feel the money coulda been better spent on a striker with a bit more physical presence .

I’ve been saying that for months Defoe is 37 he can’t lead the line on his own he’s not strong enough I just can’t see the sense in his signing Hearts finishe with four strikers on the park we only have two at the club it’s absolutely shocking.

We had a tough day, we miss Morelos, Kent is not yet firing 100%, Jack was poor, Davis is getting a bit but we are still in it and will still have a great shot at the league.
Time to calm yer jets and trust in our manager.

I’d expect a hasty loan/ transfer this week. The Morelos cash should allow us to get a suitable replacement.

Bottle merchants. Out fought all over the pitch. Defoe never got a sniff. He's a great player to have in and around the squad but he can't pull defenders about to make space for others the way Alfredo can. Thank christ he's back on Wed because we look out of ideas without him. We need another striker badly and there should've been someone brought in at the start of the window. 2 senior strikers at a club our size isn't anywhere near enough. Ideally someone with a bit of a presence about him up front and a playmaker type. We'll end up with Kenny Miller back and Scott Allan lol.

rfcrb. He had a good game against Hibs but he had plenty support on offer. You can't play him as a loan striker against two big centre halves when we are humping the ball up the park. That's not his game and never will be. Meat and drink for the Hearts defence today. We need another striker as a matter of urgency imo. That's not me blaming Defoe, far from it. 2 strikers isn't enough especially when one is knocking 38 and the other is prone to suspensions.

Defoe just hasn't got the legs ny more, i'm in no doubt he has the hunger that's why we have signed him but we need something else. It was terrible the day.

Midfield let the team down not defoe. connor looked scared of the arm band. Flanagan gets a start before polster or patterson again then we have going to ask questions of the manager.

It's quite easy to understand why we've signed Defoe. He's played 28 games this season, 15 as a sub. He's scored 16 goals. That's what he does. That is what he gives us. A poor game yesterday doesn't change that.

Mr Grumpy, I get how on paper the 16 goals in 28 games looks good, if you were too dig a bit deeper into the games these goals have came in it tends to be at Ibrox in games where have pretty much it all our own way. My point and the point of several others is that Defoe is probably the top earner in our squad so could that money have been better spent on someone who can contribute more than the odd hat rick in a 6-0 win? I do like Defoe but if we are going to have a squad with only 2 main striker both have to be able to contribute in all games if called upon.

Defoe wasn't the reason we got beat on Sunday. The whole team was poor. When called apon he's done what he's here to do score goals. I noticed folk mentioning someone like shankland. Surely people can see he's not an improvement on defoe.

Surely were not paying a Kings Ransom ( in Rangers terms) for someone to boost the goal difference in the games were winning at a canter. There is very few of JD goals have actually contributed to points and I do not think either that when we have really needed him to step up in the tougher matches he has necessarily earned his corn. While I agree Shankland would not necessarily be an upgrade he would be a fraction of the cost.

I probably wouldn’t have either tbh . I certainly wouldn’t have JD as one of our only 2 main strikers and pay him more than anyone else in the squad when he’s only effective in home games against the lessor lights . If Defoe is in squad I really think we need a third option as time and again he is completely bullied against the bigger sides. As for winning the league I think the only chance we have is keeping Alfredo on the pitch as I think we would have as much chance with Shankland as we would have with Defoe up front .

Defoe is our 2nd striker, behind Morelos who's having a great season. So he's not going to be playing all the time. WHEN he's played he has contributed. What wage he is on, is another matter entirely.
