Ed hopefully you can fill me in but I heard rumours we are taking a look at 2 lads called Billy Joe Burns and Brian McCaul from Irish League side Linfield was hoping you might know a bit about the players? {The Ed039's Note - Billy Burns is a 24 year old centre back and is under contract til end of next season which rules him out, dont know too much about mccaul, he wasnt good enough for Plymouth which doesnt say much)

Stevie Smith has signed 2 year contract.

As a Linfield supporter I can tell you 100% that niether BJ Burns nor McCaul would be a benefit to Rangers. Both good players with potential when they were younger, but the boat has sailed in regards to major playing career on the mainland.

McCoist wasn't good enough for Sunderland but became a star with Rangers, maybe McCaul is also a slow starter
Agree0

McCaul is a big Celtic fan, his twitter even ends in 67 in reference to Lisbon
DM {The Ed039's Note - So? Wasnt Neil McCann a huge Celtic fan?)

Bj burns is a right back and again he is a Celtic fan. Decent player as is mccaul but agree with above blue man, neither would be good enough.

McShagger going to Hull

Who cares?! He walked out on us making sure his and his agents bank account balance got a healthy boost leaving us with no transfer fee. So who gives a monkey's about his career. I certainly don't.
Agree6

I honestly couldn't give a monkeys were he ends up.
Try posting on the hull rumours page, someone there might care

Taking a huge cut in wages obviously wasn't enough loyalty. {The Ed039's Note - Agreed, I have no problem with any of the players who moved on, Greegs done more than most in negotiations with administrators trying to protect other players and Rangers and lost alot of money in the final months of his contract so I think he deserves to make some serious dough)
Agree2
Disagree1
Careful, Ed. , with opinions like that you might be accused of not being a 'proper' fan! {The Ed039's Note - I have said this from when it happened, I dont grudge these guys anything, some of them lost 250,000-400,000 quid, they only way they get that back is on a bosman free, its a short career, so make hay while the sun shines and all that jazz)
Agree2

Fair enough that McGregor and co wanted to leave but they gave they had an agreement they could leave on cheap they used a technicality to leave for nowt through greed. Forget the registered company they done dirty on fans the way they done it, whatever happens I hope all of them have a crap career. Edu and co wish them all the best - wanted to leave but done it correct way
Agree3

Totally agree the guys done there bit big style so I don't grudge them anything they get!would the poster take a 75% wage cut from work then remain to the company I think not ge would be right oot the door to his next job

You can't compare regular employment to a footballer's career. My company don't pay a transfer fee for me or receive one when I leave. A footballer is not just an employee, they are a valuable commodity and asset to their club. These players agreed to defer wages to help the club survive on the understanding that they could leave for vastly reduced transfer fees. However they chose to listen to their agents or their own greed and use a loophole to walk away for nothing. Did they have to do this to safeguard their careers? Are you telling me that Everton wouldn't have taken Naismith if they had to pay 500K for him? Come on. And let's not forgot that these players were the ones who were supposed life long fans. I agree with the other poster, Edu is always welcome back at Ibrox as far as I'm concerned. Parky

This site is full of posts critisising Alexander and saying he's a moneygrabber and should be dumped because we've got Cammy Bell now. Did he not take the initial pay cut, did he not stay, did he not save Rangers from some humiliating defeats early in the season. It's not just the board that needs ousted it's this scuzzy 'wearrapeepul' attitude and short memories. No gratitude, no class!

These players left the club high and dry and should never be welcomed back at the club. As the post above says they would have still got their moves if they had agreed to go for £500k. At the time that money could have been the difference between the club surviving and dying. Those players were happy to leave the club to die just to satisfy their bank balances. Yes they took pay cuts during admin but in cases like Naismith Rangers looked after him through 2 serious knee injuries both of which without the help of the club could have resulted in his career being ended.
Agree1
Disagree0
Naismith's medical costs would have been covered by insurance - yes, the club would have paid the premiums but that's much less then the medical costs. So much bitterness but then it's easier to deflect onto those who had to look out for families etc than blame those really responsible.

I personally love greegs and think he done a great job for rangers, best keeper since the goalie and der goalie! any pretentious fans remember that night against werder bremen or that penalty save against that that as good as won us the league? people often remember players for the bad things rather than good!
Agree0
Disagree0
Honestly they took a wage cut from 20k to 5k. I honestly don't have any idea how they managed to survive on 5k a week. Oh wait they still have all there sponsorship deals, houses, racehorses, etc.
Edu, etc left with there head held high. The club had no problem letting the players go for relatively no money but that 500k would have went a long way times 8.
Alexander I think is a legend! Stuck with us and judging by his claims wants to continue to do so!
Agree0
Disagree0
They may have struggled on 5k if their mortgages, school fees, bills etc. were all comfortable when earning much more - you budget depending on what your incomings are. If you had to take a 75% wage cut you would struggle: the principle is the same no matter what you earn.

Novo comeback still on cards but unlikely hately and humphrey on the way with cribari going the other way
Believable33
Unbelievable30
Not being funny but who would take cabari? He struggled in the lowest division in Scotland.
Agree1

Basically Rangers are offering better wages than any other club in Scotland apart from the second biggest club in Scotland.
This should see them get the pick of players from ever other club over the course of the next few seasons.
The problem is that whenever they make it back into the Premier League they will have a squad of SPL journeymen on good wages.
So while this is all very fanciful while in Division 2 it will be less than inspiring in a couple of years time.
As such would it not be better to try and bring in guys who will develop year on year and be potentially very good SPL players?
Agree2
Disagree1
Novo did a good job at right mid for Walter and swallae but don't see him as first pick up front. Clark and Little/Daly all day long.
Agree0

Where do you get this kinda info mate? Wid love hatley and Humphrey but novo, no thanks and cribari to leave wid be the best of the lot. this just your wishlist aye?
Agree1

I don't understand why folk want novo back at all had his day!
Agree2
Disagree1
Novo is dire, can't stay on his feet long enough and would get terrorized in lower league football never mind against decent opposition!
Agree1
Disagree0
Novo would bring good banter and heart into the dressing room. he would lift the whole squad if he was there, by the looks of things we might get celtic in a cup next season. so a player like novo would be great for big occasions, ie finals

It is also a reminder of what a state our great club is on when an ex manager is now chairman- utterly bizarre!

Its greatr news, to all those that said Walter was leaving board - how wrong you are, just shows you how many liars are tring to cause us trouble. We need save hands at the moment and they do not come any saver than Walters, well except the Goalie's, lol

Great news Walter Smith is a Rangers legend and a man who has great integrity, respect and knowledge of Rangers and the wider game. We have been crying out for a leader and there is no better man for the job. More so there is finally someone at the top of our club we can place our firm trust in. To suggest this is not the case is nothing more than crass.

Your Team seem to be turning a corner and with Smith firmly placed in the driving seat the future looks distinctly brighter. All you need to do now is sort out the google eyed fud and work your way up to the SPL. I look forward to your return.

I have not posted on this page for a while my blue nosed chums but it will be good to see the hoards back in a few years time. I advised you lot years ago about minty Murray and the whyte knight they never had any business dealings? Who owns your club lloyds bank did and sold it to Craigy not a bhoy whyte as he is fondly referred too by the clowns in green who sing his name looks like the changing of the guards will follow this investigation.
I look forward to the first old firm game ASAP
Whyte and Murry have saved you the humiliation of finishing mid table for years as Rangers simply the best could never do that once you the fans buy back the clubs assets you will have a club at the moment.
Walter Mitty is trying his best its going to cost you guys plenty as it has already good luck see you in the cups next year for sure. Remember Craig Whyte saved Rangers only one with the balls lloyds wanted their cash Whyte got them it

Walters post is a non-executive position and has nothing to do with the day to day running of the club.
The job of non-executive chairmen & non- executive directors is to keep an eye on how the club is being run.
I think this is a move to get the fans to buy season books.
Craig Whyte letter relating to action which was admitted to the stock exchange today means that this has a long way to run yet.

Walter has been appointed to secure season ticket sales, all this boardroom bickering and CW fantasy is unnerving some fans.
Any fans who need reassurance about the goings on in the last month should check the share price, it has hardly budged. If any of the malicious rumors were true, the price would have collapsed.

Aye right WS just a face to sell st
Anyway what WS knows about being a chairman is as much as I know about quantum physics

Smith's appointment will be well received by the majority of our support. That said, it is now imperative that we appoint some quality 'Rangers' minded businessmen to the Board and preferably some, like King, who will invest in teh Club.
Agree0

Do you really think Walter Smith would accept such a position just to sell season tickets? He is a TRUE Rangers man and he would only make such a decision if it was best for the club in the longer term.
