This is total gossip so don't shoot me down, simply putting it out there.

Was at Glasgow Airport today as I'm supplying plant through my work to the contractor carrying out the infrastructure improvements in and around the airport. Was killing time before my meeting and got chatting to a fellow bluenose at airport security. Apparently he was involved in some capacity with tours put on by Michael Mols and Arthur Numan bringing folk from Holland over to Ibrox (never knew they did this) and through it he got to know a few Dutch lads involved at the other end and they keep in touch regularly via FB. Apparently there is a rumour doing the rounds that Frank De Boer is keeping an eye on the managerial situation at Rangers with a view of throwing his hat in the mix should Warbs leave/ get sacked.

Apparently he was a shoe in for a job in the EPL but it fell through and subsequently ended up at Inter (no a bad consolation) . The job didn't work out for him and he was sacked after like 90 days so he's looking for a club to rebuild his reputation and sees gers as a perfect fit.

Like I said at the start, just a story I heard second hand from a total stranger but worth sharing.

There is logic to this as if MW was sacked we would look for a manager who shares the same philosophies as MW as I'm lead to believe the 433 system (old Dutch system according to FIFA 16/ 17 lol) is being taught straight through the academies . like with Ajax.

However, If you were looking for a club to 'rebuild your reputation' would you chose a club with nout to spend?

And would he work for the wage MW is currently on?

Renya, Gio and davie Weir as well as the De Boers will be linked at some point but it's not worth speculating on.

I heard one better. Walter Smith is good friends with Marcello Lippi who always asks about the gers and manages in China.

They've had a good friendship since the early days and that was evident in the transfer activity within Italian football.

Rangers in my opinion though will keep it British if manager change happens.

Another good pal of Walters is Pelligrini who sold us Seb Rozenthal all those years ago and what ever happens Walters connections may be our best hope.

He's always been my first choice if warbs goes.

06 Dec 2016 17:08:51
Hilarious stuff guys, we get rid of our managers because his style doesn't work and replace him with a manager with the same ethos and less experience? Really?

06 Dec 2016 19:49:25
RFCinfinity, i'm a fan of our manager warbs, but don't get your angle when you say frank de boer as a manager has LESS experience than mark warburton. Not true my friend, frank de boer has been a manager a good bit longer than warbs has, and he's also about 8 years his junior!

08 Dec 2016 11:20:34
Discussed this recently as well as Michael Laudrup, surely through his brothers connections he would be more interested in Rangers than Qatar.

That said these kind of managers want backed, Frank De Boer won't come and work on a shoe string budget, he would want £10m there to spend, which at the moment we cannot provide, maybe when Cashley is gone but not now.

Saying MW is more experienced though is ridiculous as much as I like MW, FDB is a footballing man has been involved his whole life, MW is a city trader who made his money and turned his hobby into a career, he is a man manager but IMO is beginning to show he isn't football manager. He is showing his stubborness or juast plain lack of experience in being unable to actually change anything tactically.

There is no doubt what so ever in my mind that FDB or ML would get more out of the current squad than MW but we simply can't afford or back them right now.

Put it this way I would much rather go into a dressing room at HT 1-0 down with MW there than FDB. 1 will molly coddle you and tell you to work hard and go again in the 2nd half. The other would give you a swift left up the rear and make it quite clear that losing is not an option.

Sometimes Ronny was playing a similar 433 to Rodgers but the difference is a couple of good additions to the squad and the ability to change it if necessary, a good manager can get the best out of underperforming players, broony, rogic, Armstrong and even Izzy and Gordon have all been playing much better under Brendan . Warbola is your Ronny, and you never know de Boer could be your Rodgers.

I have heard there is a chance we will make a move to sign Ali Crawford in January, and if we don't get him that the interest won't end there. Not a particularly reliable source ad its from the Accies end rather than the Rangers end. Would be happy if true however.

05 Dec 2016 16:59:03
Why do we want to sign players like this man, we are going to be in Celtics shadows for a long long time if we don't sign players better than our own already.

05 Dec 2016 17:34:03
He's streets ahead of our 'goalscoring' midfielders. If you watched any amount of Hamilton games in the last few years you'll notice how good he is.

05 Dec 2016 18:21:10
I watch Hamilton regularly. We need to be far more ambitious than Crawford, a very average player.

05 Dec 2016 18:40:25
I like Crawford think he'd be a good addition to the team.

05 Dec 2016 20:44:06
Very average? No disrespect but as a fellow occasional watcher of Hamilton I think he is single-handedly keeping Accies in the league. Would welcome him, especially as he knows the league and would not take any time to get up to speed.

06 Dec 2016 14:11:20
What kind of statement is that R4NG3R5? An example mate. Where did celtic get armstrong from? Because ali crawford currently plays for hamilton accies doesn't mean he can't go on to be a very good player for rangers! Every signing is a gamble!

06 Dec 2016 20:39:05
As I said, I've seen Crawford, watched him more closely since he was first linked with Rangers, saw nothing that excites me. Average player with nohing to suggest he has in him the level of improvement he would need to play for us.

06 Dec 2016 20:07:22
Remember james mcarthur and james mcCarthy came through the hamilton accies ranks and look at the level these 2 players are playing at! Ali crawford would be a good signing for us imo!

07 Dec 2016 00:08:02
Both of those players were miles ahead of Crawford. They were the talk of the place since they were kids and a blind man going past the park on a bus could have spotted their talent. Crawford's not even close, never will be.

Hello fellow bears, I work for a bookies and from word of mouth around the fellow gets diehards that come in is that the dynamic goal scoring midfielder is Raul mereiles (excuse the spelling) formerly of Liverpool/ Chelsea etc.

Done a wee bit of digging and realised he's just been released from contract at fenerbace, and is still only 33 and was always a player stylistically I liked when he was at Chelsea.

Personally I would love it to be him, however I think wages would be a problem, but if I remember correctly he had a wee dig at Celtic when they played against them with fenerbace in the champions league saying something along the lines of 'those Celtic kids at Celtic park won't intimidate me or my team when we play them!

05 Dec 2016 10:57:59
Is he ex Brentford? If not I doubt he'll be on our radar.

05 Dec 2016 13:28:02
TheCampbell do you know we haven't signed anyone who has played for Brentford?

05 Dec 2016 15:41:53
I'm pretty sure Lee hodson was at Brentford.

05 Dec 2016 17:27:46
Halliday, O'hallalan, Barton, Kranjcar, Garner, Holt, Zelalam, Ball, King, Rossiter, Wilson haven't played for brentford all managers buy who and what they know, sadly gers aren't in postition to scout the world for top talent as no money to buy top talent English Championship is stronger than SPL, the players need time to gel into style of football they aren't used to warbs is man to take Gers forward we all need to get behind the team and manager.

05 Dec 2016 17:36:28
I would still love Lewis MacLeod back.

05 Dec 2016 22:54:14
The attacking midfield, playmaker warbs is trying to get on loan in january, is jota, with the view of making the deal permanent in the summer! Jota is a brentford player who's currently on loan with spanish club eibar! Warbs actually signed jota for brentford from celta vigo! He's actually valued at around 8 million quid! He's only 25 years old!

06 Dec 2016 12:36:36
Isn't mereiles more of a holding mid?

06 Dec 2016 17:10:24
Yeah he is a DM. Not a very good one either.
