Just watched Murty's Press conference as i do every press conference. Now i'm not saying he is our answer before anyone jumps on this.
There seems to be a marked change in his demeanor, from jovial, happy and friendly to focused, steely and angry. Are we seeing the players pal turn into the gaffer in front of our own eyes?

Even if he isn't our next manager, I hope he is at our club in some capacity.
Lets hope for a weekend of good results all round, Sat pm - 2nd, 3rd or 4th?

Where's my beta blockers!

I also was very impressed with everything about graeme murty's pre match interview for the dundee game tomorrow! Totally with you 100%, in everything you said there, TJBB! He's embracing what's required and is continuing to grow into the rangers manager's job! Graeme murty given the chance will be a very good rangers manager IMHO!

07 Apr 2018 05:12:17
You've been impressed by all his press conferences, talking a good game, saying all the right things. We're playing Dundee, at home, it should be a easy 3 points. I think we will win against Dundee but this talk about murty 'growing' eh? You hardly ever mention our inconsistent form, losing too many games at home. What exactly has murty done to warrant such adulation? We should be comfortably be in 2nd place, much closer to a bang average c*ltic side

07 Apr 2018 07:55:54
Are you basing Murtys suitability to be the Rangers next manager on his press conferences? We've taken 1 point in the last 9, 6 of those points up for grabs at Ibrox for crying out loud, there's 8 reasons right there why he should not be our next manager.

07 Apr 2018 08:16:15
Starting to hear the same nonsense about Murty that I heard about Pedro and Warburton, games aren't won in press conferences no matter how well he speaks he is not a Rangers manager and never will be as neither of the previous 2 were.

07 Apr 2018 09:26:11
TJBB and supercoop I agree. I was really impressed with what he was saying and he's bang on he can be a tactical master and put on the best training and prep but once the players cross the white line its upto them. They need to take responsibility. i'm not saying he's the long term answer but he understands better than pedro "dogs bark and caravans go on" or warbs "we go away train come back better" he speaks like a fan and he talks like he cares. 100 % could be a great manager for us but he needs to get the players all working hard for the final games of the season. 2nd place and the cup is still on. Also its not really his players he's only had 1 transfer window.

His demeanour will be changing due to the growing pressure and criticism over the past few weeks. To go into defensive mode is human nature I suppose and the only way that is going to diminish is by being successful. The tanned one has been experiencing some criticism as well and he has let his guard down numerous times. Pity as a wee bit of quality and guile and that lot would have been there for the taking. We'd have seen an astronomical meltdown over by! I really had hoped that Graham Murty would be the answer. He still might be as there have been some positives along the way, however I Don't believe he is the answer right now. He may be in a few years time but not now. We need a wily old experienced manager not afraid to frighten the crap out of those who need it. Now I wonder who would be the perfect fit? Hmmmm.

07 Apr 2018 10:57:40
Not slating the guy-seems a good bloke, but my wee boy is 9 and he said to me that if he goes a man up on FIFA that he always goes 3 at the back and puts on another attacker.

15-20 mins in last old firm game and nowt.

07 Apr 2018 10:58:02
What wily old experienced manager would you want seeker?

07 Apr 2018 11:07:45
Hi Blueberry, Fair comments from all, just my observation. Was wondering though on a point you brought up. "Dundee an easy 3 point at home". For the supporters that's acceptable to have that point of view but just wondering if the players thought that. Any Rangers player worth his salt should be playing every game like a champions league final thinking this is going to be the toughest 3 points of our lives and it maybe it might be my last game ever particularly at Ibrox. The other diddy teams at the moment are showing us the correct attitude on the pitch we need to emulate that for every second the players boots touch the grass.

07 Apr 2018 11:19:36
This garbage is happening again. Rangers fans who used to fawn over Pedro the Pretzel for no reason other than to be staunch are it seems doing it again with Murty. Misguided loyalty to managers who don't deserve it. We haven't had a real manager since Walter retired.

07 Apr 2018 11:22:01
@frcchris 'he understands better' - really? Supporting Kipre's challenge on Jack, calling Parkhead second to none, pleading with Rangers fans for patience, praising Celtic for his testimonial and being proud they were the opponent?

He doesn't understand Rangers at all. He wasn't even a good youth coach for hell's sake. Look at the youth results under him!

07 Apr 2018 11:23:12
if this was any other manager he would be sacked. how does his stats stack up against previous managers now

07 Apr 2018 11:44:03
Murty is a good coach and a nice but he is not yet a tactician take the celtic game for 30 minuets we attacked the right wing and were unable to create a decent chance he should have identified this after 10 minutes and mixed things up for example move Murphy inside and run at centre backs his use of subs is poor he swaps one player for a like for like player late in the game we need to be able to change a game with a sub like when Lovenkrands would come on with 20 mins to go and run at the centre backs and force mistakes

07 Apr 2018 12:04:11
RfcChris, once the players cross the white line there is plenty that the manager can do that's how you get good managers and crap managers. Our team should easily be good enough to finish second and it should be putting up a fight for the title. If we drop points today will the Murty for manager brigade still be singing his praises? If not then that tells us that he is only one bad result away from people changing there opinion and that says it all.

07 Apr 2018 13:13:21
Murty is a half-decent orator at press conferences, and a weak manager at match time.

07 Apr 2018 13:22:17
I couldn’t care less about his media speeches his record on the Park is of more interest and I’m afraid that isn’t good enough, you don’t get points for press conferences

07 Apr 2018 13:33:00
Murty is a good guy, decent bloke and doing his best. No doubt about that. That being said, I totally switched off listening to his press conference yesterday.

The comment about once they cross the line there is nothing he can do is just plain wrong. Players have their individual accountability of course, but as Jyf pointed out, having an organised and motivated team is his bloody job! And if they aren't showing the correct application, then change things! Murty seems to be of the thinking, if something isn't working then leave it and hope it improves as opposed to changing things up.

Continually stating 'he is learning everyday' as well. The pressures and demands of Rangers do not fit well with someone learning on the job. No other team that is the most successful in their league would have a manager in place to learn the ropes as manager of the first team.

If we are using how well a manager talks in press conferences as a major plus for why someone should get the job then I honestly despair. I couldn't give a monkeys if the manager belts out nursery rhymes for the entire thing. As long as the team puts in a 90 minute shift and gets results on the weekend.

07 Apr 2018 14:18:32
Coops - Walter Smith. Neil Warnock. McLeish. Perm any one from three

07 Apr 2018 14:25:09
Ok I understand as Rangers fans we can be impatient and demanding but what happens if we pump Dundee say 4 -0 today. Then knock smeltic out the cup? Everything changes lads. Get behind the team and the manager.

07 Apr 2018 17:08:34
@rfcchris.

I'm hoping the second part of that possible outcome is now on the cards ;)

07 Apr 2018 17:12:26
Can I get your lottery numbers Chris? Maybe it"s an omen and we will dump them next week as well. What's the score going to be? First goalscorer would be good as well lol

07 Apr 2018 18:41:59
everything changes? nah mate not for me it doesnt. The same way folk like coop admirably hold their opinions Murty might come good, i will stick to my guns that we need better.

What is impatient or demanding about being in a battle for third, possibly fourth against teams we should be streets ahead of?

PS. I will get behind the team, always do. when kick off comes I am supporting and willing the boys to get a result. Hopefully we see something worth getting behind today after the last few games.

07 Apr 2018 18:44:53
supercooper, murty ain't the answer, just as bad as warbs and pedro.

07 Apr 2018 21:40:57
Agree Walter struth

07 Apr 2018 21:47:50
@RFCCHRIS - your prediction was absolutely spot on, but unfortunately we played so horribly I have no idea how we managed four goals.

07 Apr 2018 22:50:24
Get Warnock in!

08 Apr 2018 15:53:44
Just interested but what is all the clamour about Neil Warnock?
How is this a way forward?
And how does de Boer know what our club is about any more than Murty?
Not saying Murty is definitely the right man but equally not sure anyone definitely better has been identified.
Some of the suggestions are difficult to figure, Billy Davies for example.
So even if Murty comes up short this season I wouldn't change him without being sure the replacement would be any bette, so not Derek McInnes either.
Maybe the most important thing is someone who can work with Mark Allen who seems to be able to spot and land a player.
Anyway, fingers crossed for next week and what is happening with Rossiter?
