Customer at Work this morning told me Neil Alexanders knocked back a 10g a week contract seems a coincidence since his howler on sat wondering if anyone can shed any light on the subject? I wouldnt pay him half that so if this is the case he should be shipped out sharp we cannot afford to give a GK half a million a season in the 2nd & 1st division!

Believable79 Unbelievable41

He didn't knock back the money. He wants a longer contract. It's a one year deal and he wants 2 or 3 years

Agree0 Disagree0

Why else did he stay as a bench warmer behind Mc Shagger?

Agree1 Disagree0

10k pw for a div 3/2/1 player is just crazy !

Would love to see what black and co are making in div 3 !

So many over heads !

Lenny

Agree1 Disagree2

I wouldnt give him 10k could get a better keeper on lower wages the scouts just need start looking around

Agree0 Disagree1

Have we not learned anything, no club in Scotland should be paying these level of wages anymore.

If we give one player (if it's true) 10K then every other first team regular will expect the same, when there contracts come up for renewal.

Make a stand Rangers, get the wage bill reduced to sensible figures.

Agree0 Disagree2

Players now know Green's got money, £10m budget for Ally and they rightfully want top buck.
They also know club in very weak position with transfer ban and cannot replace those who walk. Nobody's doing it for the shirt anymore (that includes McCulloch who's 34 and signed up to 37, this is the best financial and longest deal he gets anywhere).

Agree0 Disagree3

Greens got money and the players know it. Let the fun and games begin.

Wage structure? Lol

Agree0 Disagree4

Quite right too its about time green started rewarding the players for sticking around

There is no way him or anyone else at Ibrox will be offered 10g a week for years!! Wake up bears.

Agree1 Disagree1

it actually says he is on 11k a week at present and the offer would be 1k less for 1 year...but he wants a 2 year deal at least....so has been getting paid approx £11k all season and with black and sandaza on approx 5k and temp on approx 8k..the wage bill for these 4 alone comes to £1.5m add that to wallace and mcCulloch and all the smaller wages of the young boys
and the backroom staff,,,, comes to a hell of a lot of money leaving the coffers with a reduced
income

Agree0 Disagree1

Think this is why there has been links lately with Bell of Kilmarnock and now Matt Ryan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you got yourself a year or two in the future we are in the 3rd div and enjoying the journey

Agree0 Disagree0

Also heard this rumour. To have anyone on 10k a week in the 3rd division is a disgrace. Appreciate you stuck by Rangers Neil, but this shouldn't happen. That's premier league wages. At the same time, if Rangers are offering this sort of money, then he is only trying to get what others are on. It's bad business from the top to be paying these wages. Maybe if the Football was a lot better to watch then we wouldn't be talking about it as much, but we are Woeful against part-time opposition. The wages we are paying players to win this league we SHOULD be winning every game comfortably and not scraping by or playing 2 holding midfielders.

Ten grams is nothing to be sniffed at. {The Ed039's Note - lol)

Agree1 Disagree1

I thought his contract was 8k per week, cannot see him getting a pay rise in div 3.

Agree1 Disagree0

It's always about buying the division you're in by one point.
If you win by two or five or ten points you got you're sums wrong and paid too much.
Rangers are 17 points clear at half way so say win by 34 points? Absolute over spend! Rangers could drop 15 points in second half of season by selling top three wage earners and saving fortune. But dropping top three salaries still wouldn't drop 15 points, probably still pick up 7 points and finish 24 ahead winners.

Agree0 Disagree0

8K, 10K, 11K - it's more than most SPL players get paid each week. (About 8 to 11K more than Hearts players LOL).

Seriously, I'd offer incentives to players based on results if they think they are that good. Anyone wanting a 2 year contract would get paid a bonus at the end if two promotions have been sealed etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

Did you give him small fries?

Agree0 Disagree0

Alexander got whatever he was on before transfering contract to newco otherwise he would have walked, he knew he would never get that elsewhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely not, don't believe it for a second. Neils been loyal to Rangers since the day he walked through the doors at murray park. He stayed for the fight, if he wanted top dollar he would have left. Wake up bears, Hes been one of our most loyal players. I don't believe he would turn down a deal unless it was a completly degrading offer. Bobby

Agree1 Disagree0

It wasnt the amount he was offered that was the problem, he wanted a longer contract.

Ed little question for you nothing to do with this op. i was having an argument in work today over the best goalkeepers to play in this country here is my order of the best keepers to play in this country in the last 20 years see if you agree silly but want to put some celtic fan's straight.

1. andy goram
2. stefan klos
3. chris woods
4. alan mcgregor
5. artur boruc
6. fraser forster.

lots of these celtic fan's trying to argue that forster is the best keeper ever to play in this country how stupid can they be. the guy has been here what a year. he still is a young keeper progressing but the thing he lacks is being able to command his box for a guy of his height he should be more commanding from corners and set pieces.

silly argument but would like your views.

Agree1 Disagree0

Interesting............Goram at his pomp was a phenomenal Goalkeeper - I'll give you that.
Despite his obvious pedigree, I honestly believe Klos was overrated (and we now know he was incredibly overpaid to match).
Artur Boruc on his best form was better than the rest - except Goram.
McGregor, on his game, is undoubtedly a class act - but I believe that Fraser Forster (now in his 3rd season) is currently as good as Mcgregor and will only improve. The level of improvement in such a short space of time is impressive in itself.
I think Forster will eventually eclipse the rest on the list - but it won't be playing in Scotland.

1. Goram
2. Boruc
3. McGregor
= Klos
= Forster
6. Woods

............kbt1978

Agree1 Disagree0

Celtic fan here.....
Would need to say Goram was the best in my opinion. SC

silly argument but would like your views. {The Ed039's Note - Chris Woods left Rangers in 1991 so your post covers 22 years. There been some other good keepers, Theo Snelders, Craig Gordon?? I liked the big Dutch keeper that played for Motherwell and Dundee United, Sieb Dijkstra. Also I dont know what happened to Jamie Langfield, when he was younger he seemed to be a big prospect but he never seemed to reach the heights expected of him)

Has anyone heard anything regarding Andy Halliday from boro? deacent young player who we have been linked with?

Believable11 Unbelievable35

He played and scored for Middlesborough at the weekend and Mowbray is keen to keep him.

Agree0 Disagree2

07 Jan 2013 18:41:52
He scored the other day - not a chance of him playing in div 3! {The Ed039's Note - This is one I have asked some people to keep me updated on, rumour has it he is very keen under the right circumstances)

Agree0 Disagree0

We wont be in div 3 next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Mobray has offered him an new contract, he said he is thinking it over along with other options

Agree0 Disagree0

If reconstruction means three leagues under one body, and if they're numbered 1, 2, 3, then you will be in division 3 lol {The Ed039's Note - They have already said that it will be Premiership, Championship and League One just like in England. Think before you try and take the mick)

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed my mate ben gibson is a boro under 21 player and he has informed me that although halliday is frustrated at the lack of first team action at boro that he is happy to stay there for the moment and fight for a place in the first team and that he may well sign a new contract with them. not a rumour but just something i have been told.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gettin to the stage where i don't think we will be signin any1 tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy would love to play for Rangers he is at Ibrox as much as he can to watch the team he is a massive fan and like any fan he dreams of one day playing for the boys in royal blue

Agree0 Disagree0

To the above poster he may be a rangers fan that i do not know but i do know he wants to stay at boro and get a place in the team as i said ben gibson said there is every chance he will sign a new deal with the championship club. anyway i would much rather see our own youngsters getting a chance rather than bringing more players in.
