Was hearing today, that rangers are very close to signing ayr utd striker, lawrence shankland. Seemingly when we sign him,
we're loaning him back to ayr utd, for the rest of the season!

Someone posted this through the week that he was at the Hummel training centre. Off the back of that I mentioned it to a guy from my work who’s an Ayr Utd season ticket holder. He said that when they played Queens Park during the week it was being mentioned by the Ayr fans during the game in the stands so maybe some truth in this. Didn’t really believe it at 1st if I’m honest but you never know.

Did somebody else no mention him a wee while ago? 28 goals in 31 appearances last season, definitely worth a look at it in my opinion!

£150,000 would be money well spent for the young lad Shankland as I feel he has a great season ahead of him.

Ayr fan I spoke too also reckons they are getting him back on loan and said that the lad is a massive Blue Jose.

They have already rejected a bid of 150k kaz👍, don't really know enough of him but 28 goals in league 1 is hardly rangers material. He is 23 so there is time to improve, who knows, we will see.

Well it was me who posted this last week - just passing on what i heard but it does appear he is being loaned back - i'm not saying whetehr he will be Rangers class or not- but for the doubters on here saying he won't be - tell me please what you though of the boy Robertson at Queens Park who is now at Liverpool or Jamie Vardy who fired himself from nowhere to a premiership title and a world cup semi final in the matter of 4 or 5 seasons - who can say this boy couldn't make the grade?

Seen him linked with hearts as well and to be honest would make more sense them signing him as a replacement for Lafferty so can see that happening instead.

He isn't fast, he isn't strong, his attitude before Ayr was stinking and he is already 23. No idea why would sign him but if we did it would certainly be madness to loan him back to ayr. People act like he is a 19 year old breaking throug, he isnt. Will be signing Rory McAllister next.

Maybe Stevie G and Marc Allen see something in him they’ve done not bad so far.

U saw him playing? I'm from ayr n go to somerset when we're not playing. He's not flying but he is quick, he is strong n knows where the net is. Not much of a risk loan him back to ayr for season have a good loak pre season maybe loan him out to a spl team next year. He doesn't make we will still make our money back at 200k or so,

The boy is a decent player but come on we must be aiming higher. it's not 3 year ago. time for proven talent or to bring our own boys through .

Amazes me how people think guys are not Rangers class, I seem to remember a certain striker when he signed for us being moaned about in certain quarters because he was only a Killie player, look how that turned out! If MA, SG and GM think he’ll do a job I’ll trust their judgment, they haven’t got much wrong so far!

Too be fair if it's such a low transfer fee then it's very low risk, if you spend 200k and it doesn't work out then it's not a massive fee, on the other hand if you spend that and he scores some important goals then it a decent piece of business. I would prefer that we were looking for better players but top strikers cost lots of millions so you need to try and be shrewd especially when it is for cover for a position.

Yeah Coldo I knew Ayr Utd rejected 150k last week

Rangers have gone in with the same figure but also allowed the player to stay at Ayr for the year as part of the deal

The deal is about done bud.

I have seen him play yes, at Morton and Ayr. He knows where the goal is but so does Rory McAllister and he is far more prolific.

If we loaned him out he would be 24. We would be paying most of his wages and then, when he failed to make the grade, we would need to pay him off. If he was 17/ 18 then yes. But a 23year old having a good season at League 1 doesn't mean he will be Jamie Vardy.

As I said before, I hope the boy goes on to do well and I hope he leaves Ayr sooner rather than later. But I just can't see him being Rangers class.

Also, if we do get him and loan him back to Ayr - we still need another striker. Its just madness all in all, if we are going to take a punt why not see if he can make it now? Or is it because he is only proven in League 1?

He isn’t rangers class should be aiming higher what crap many good managers plucked boys from lower divisions made them into players don’t always have to pay millions.
