Not a rumour as such but i'm just after talking to one of our youth coaches at THTC,
who i won't name as it wouldn't be fair to.
He told me that our director of football mark allen rates very highly and thinks the world of our youth coach kevin thomson. He has said that he's very impressed with how KT build his own youth academy, after retiring from professional football, at a relatively young age. Allen thinks thomson has the makings of becoming a terrific head coach/
manager, a few years down the line. Got me thinking that as allen has a massive say, in who is the rangers manager/ head coach,
does he see a pathway for thomson to progress to one day have the rangers manager's/ head coach's job, once gerrard has left? Could mark allen be grooming kevin thomson, for the top job at rangers one day?
Whats our thoughts on this fellow bears? I have heard myself through other people that thomson is a very highly rated coach indeed.

Never been impressed with Thomson on RTV. For someone praised as a coach, a worrying lack of knowledge and awareness of this club comes through. And I know it's nitpicking, but he's one of the 'Morales' crew.

Rfcrb I disagree I think Kevin comes across well and hope he progresses as high as his abilities take him, pronunciation is not a problem as people whom are paid lots more than Kevin all over the world can get that wrong.

I just hope the next time he talks about “Morales” it’s talking about our former player.

Mark Allen will understand that coaching kids and managing Rangers are two entirely different propositions (eg Murty) . It's like saying a guy who once set up a wee corner shop has the potential to be managing director of Tesco. Bordering on fantasy football here.

Supercoop, agree Kevin Thomson shows promise as a coach and certainly thought he was a very good player for us. He is also media savvy and comes across well when interviewing. Personally I don’t think he will ever be manager of our club but if he does a good job over the next 3-4 years he could secure a bigger role when SG returns to Liverpool.

It would be a big shock if when SG goes we replaced him with Kevin Thomson. Would/ could the supporters get excited by that appointment.

I think she Gerrard does go Mcallister will take over and maybe KT will be his assistant.

I think Mcallister would go with gerrard in time.

Personally don’t think we should be a club that promotes from within, we might end up with another manager like McCoist.

Rangers need to be appointing proven top end managers, and before anyone mentions it. I don’t think we should have hired a rookie in SG. Thought he made a of mistakes and enemies with his nieve pressers.

If Kevin Thomson has ambitions to be the manager, I would like him to go to a Kilmarnock or similar as head coach to prove himself first.
