According to a report in the daily record tonight, nikola katic has been told he's not in gerrard's plans and will be sold 🤔He seemingly has no future at rangers and unfortunately for the big man ATM, he is 5th choice centre half 🤔.

Someone better tell rangers. Coldo has stated he's our best CH. Crazy to get rid. All seriousness he was shocking before injury. Thot a loan would have done him good and i do rate him over simpson so 4th choice i have him in at. This must mean goldson is stay then if letting katic go. Defence need to get back to how they were playing last season now. With fellow croat away wonder how this will effect borna.

Maybe just maybe Rangers can't get insurance for his injured leg.
Then its not worth the risk keeping him, wages wise, if he's out for a period.
or maybe he is just surplus this adds fuel to Bates rumour.

This is a catastrophe if rangers sell him. he was definitely one for the future and could've had a decade of dominance at the back. And before folk (Paul) say he was shocking before his injury - half the team were! Including his so called partner at the back Goldson. And for me he's not lit any fires with his performances this year. Helander is clunky but he's probably been the most consistent. At least u know what u get with him. Balogun ball watches FAR FAR too much. The cause of at least a couple of the benfica goals last year too. And Jack Simpson thinks he's playin in Italy thinking he's got a year and a half to pass. The amount of times since his arrival a pass he's made has been shut down when he's had an eternity to play the ball. I'm sure he'll improve, as will goldson and hopefully balogun will stop taking his colouring in set on the park to play with and concentrate but katic is as good as any at the club. Just needs a run of games to get his sharpness up. If there's something underlying then fair enough but I think this is a BAD move. Plus his value has prob diminished since he's just back from this injury. How are Celtic Punting absolute melters for millions and were giving our best prospects (and arguably players) away?!?!

Katic had numerous deficiencies in his game before his injury.
Passing the ball 10 yards to a team mate being one. Which is pivotal to the way Rangers play out from the back.

When I say one for the I mean he could have been our centre half for a decade. And people have such short memories! It wasn't that when he was flying into tackles and winning everything in games and leaping like salmon scoring winners against Celtic when no one else could. His heart and commitment can NEVER be questioned. And yeah, he's probably one of those centre Half's who would always need a Davie Weir next to him keeping him right but he was immense at times and 24 for a centre back is quite young, especially when he never got a consistent run all the time. When did we get goldson? When he wAs 25?26? And look how he's matured.
People are so fickle.

I liked Katic's attitude and commitment on the pitch, but he had some obvious weaknesses - unfortunately it looks like missing a full year has hindered his opportunity to develop.

At 24 it's probably fair on him to move him on.

As for Simpson, I think he's favoured as he's left sided - also, his performances remind me of 'early' Goldson. so maybe there is hope.

I've really not been impressed by simpson, looks so shaky. Surprised we are letting big Niko go. Games in Europe where we needed big defensive performances, I always thought he stood up well. he's not the best on ball but simpson and balogun not the cleverest with ball at feet either.

An d Gerrard has a short memory of he gets rid the man who scored the winner at parkhead to start the turn around. MagIc is old school centre half dominates the air and is a guy who obviously willing to work to improve this is a big big mistake if we sell Mark my words.

Ehl - early goldson and current goldson.

For me Helander is the best natural defender at the club, then marginally Goldson over Katic. Still think he is better than Balogun- who is athletic but not a natural defender. Just have to watch the slavia home match to know what I’m talking about!

Interesting, the comments relating to Insurance and it could be an issue. Personal Injury Claims in the Insurance Market are fraught with danger and are one of the biggest areas of fraud. Insurers and Reinsurers will definitely be wary of covering a player if they are uncomfortable with the risk.
Having said the above I believe that Katic is a better player than Simpson, who looks like a bomb square, and I would say that he is also better than Balogun.
I am in the camp that considers Helander to be our best Centre Half and if we don't get Goldson to sign a new contract soon then we need to sell. It would be extremely bad business to allow him to run down his contract.
The question is, is there a centre back out there that we are keen to sign and we need to reduce numbers to accommodate that.

SGL I would definitely say he's (obviously) down the pecking order but we don't know where he's at physically and without a run of games won't get the advantages they others have been getting. It might not be a good measuring stick but his b team performance's have been more than decent.

We're talking about it as this guy with all these flaws and deficiencies; but tell me one of our cb's who's played well this season? Even in the livi game goldson looked a bit edgy at times, as I said with helander u know what u get on the tin and balogun relies on his pace too often which cost several last year, and a couple already this season. So I can't see why Katic wouldn't be given a chance.

Blue in my blood a goal at parkhead doesn't mean you walk in the side. he's a good ariel threat but terrible with ball at his feet. Also his goal at parkhead ended up being the highlight of the season all went downhill after that.

No one is saying he is Franco Baresi, but we need to stop talking like a was a sh*t show. In his last season he started well, fell out of favour (unfairly imo) then came back and was doing well and it wasn't just the goal against them it was his heart, desire and willingness to sweat blood for us when he crosses that line. We don't get that from a lot of players and that goes a long long way for me.

It's one thing wanting to play from the back but we also need a bit of no-nonsense defending.

And if playing from the back was our top priority McLaughlin would play in from of McGregor as with the ball at his feet he's night and day. Alan still prefers to clear the ball more often than not but he's a better keeper so he's in.
