copy paste job

Rangers could have to make do without Filip Helander for some time this season, the big Swede isn’t the sort of player to go down injured or need stretchered off unless something serious has happened, Steven Gerrard confirming that he has already had an operation which will put him out for the “foreseeable future“.
With this in mind, the gaffer has a few options:

Promote Jack Simpson to play more regularly.

Consider moving Calvin Bassey into his more natural centre-half position.

Recall Niko Katic in January.

Or, have a look at the free agents currently without a club.

If he decides to go with the latter, there is one name that sticks out like a sore thumb and one that is surprising to see still without a club having played in La Liga, the Premier League, Portugal’s Premeira Liga and the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

He’s won the league in three different countries and has eight caps for France and, at 30-years old, Eliaquim Mangala – once rated at £31.5million – is far from past it.

Since leaving Valencia in the summer, the former Manchester City centre-half has yet to find a new club, he isn’t injured or recovering from injury either, in short, he would be the perfect player to offer a short-term deal to should Gerrard decide that he wants or needs more experienced cover alongside Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun.
Mangala wouldn’t have to play every game and for all that the Scottish Premiership is a step down compared to what he is used to, there is no doubting his quality as a defender and it would give him the chance to put himself in the shop window to kick-start his career.

It’s an almost zero risk transfer, the sort that Ross Wilson loves, we just need to wait and see just how bad Helander’s injury is first but, in the worst case scenario, there is a solution available that ticks an awful lot of boxes.

I thought Cahill should have been offered a deal when Goldson still hadn’t signed up, but this is a good call too Paul.

I agree TT12 👍I thought we should have signed cahill but mangala is a free agent and is a left footed centre half, so could be a worthwhile shout on a deal until the end of the season 🤔.

So it’s just click bait then.

I've also seen this click bait. Mangala is a good option but also in the click bait article was Everson formerly of Monaco and Nicolas N'kolou. All would be great signings but for players of that stature still to be free agents I think there must be something wrong ie injuries or wage demands too high etc.

Cahill didn't want to come to Scotland. He was quoted saying he wanted to stay down the south of England.

Jack Simpson gives me the fear man.

When you consider the teams and price tags he’s had then there must be something about him. Also has French caps I think? Could be wrong though 🤷🏻.

We need a CB to fill the void left by the injury to Helander and the fact Katic is now on loan.
Basically we only have Goldson, Balogun, and Simpson.
Simpson to me will struggle to become a first team regular at Rangers.

Think the young lad King could step in as a 5th choice behind the 3 you mentioned and Bassey can slot in. Big expectations for the boy King. Not seen much but my friend says he is a cracking talent with huge potential. We fought hard to keep him from moving down south and I think he could get some match time this season.
