Just heard Carragher and Redknapo discussing it on Sky. Jamie saying he thinks Stevie will stay till at least the end of the season. Apparently he is the bookies favourite. Unfortunately that's what we're going to get after every departure in the English top flight.

Purslow wants him at Villa and that is the basis for the current rumour. Its an interesting one, Villa would offer him a substantial transfer budget but he would be in a relegation battle. No the ideal time to go to a Club. His ultimate aim is to manage Liverpool but will he get the opportunity if he hasn't managed at a higher level than the SPL. Gerrard is ambition and he highlighted the need for investment at Rangers if we are to progress in Europe. Somehow we will need to find the funding to seriously support him or I fear we will lose him this summer.

Gerrards standing in the game down South and the fact he will n the league last year will see him linked with jobs in the EPL or Championship.
Gerrard will be shrewd enough to wait until the correct job becomes available to match his ambition.
As long as he leaves Rangers in a good position, I'll wish him well.

Gerrard was never going to go to Newcastle but Villa could be a different story. The question for Gerrard has to be whether this would help or hinder his chances to secure the Liverpool job when Klopp goes. There again, can he be confident of getting the job if he stays with us and doesn't have any EPL Managerial experience. If he stays with us then we really do need to find the investment to give him the players he needs to take us forward rather than have to depend on free transfers.
