A story from a director of a club.
Ian McAll, Kevin Thomson sounded out assistant to McAllister at rangers.
Only if Gerrard goes with Beale Milson culshaw.

I really hope your wrong about this one John.

Need a manager with a track record of winning trophies in my opinion IF Gerrard goes.

Agree Gary mac is not a no1 and I'd be gutted if he was appt manager but would take KT as part of a new set up.

Yes mcall thistle, him and McAllister are best friends

Another bear track record, Wallace, Grieg, mcall murty Nichol. caxhinia gerrard et al
What we need is someone who plays same style of football and can attract big name players.

I wouldn’t be happy with gary Mac if SG goes.

I’m now being told Gerrard has been granted permission to meet with Villa.

That appointment would show a total lack of ambition on the part of Rangers. If Kevin Thomson continues to progress then he is certainly an option for the future but for me McAllister and McColl are both no no's. They certainly won't attract the quality of player we need!

Kevin Thomson I can totally get on board with as an assistant but not Ian Mccall. He was my manager for a short period of time and although I thought he was a good manager he is very very stuck in his ways. I can't see the modern player of the calibre of the players at Rangers taking to his methods.

Think we will ask Gary Mac to be managers or go for frank lampard if Gerrard goes got this niggling felling tho it’s going to be derek mcinnes if Gerrard leaves best of luck to him and get my thanks for 55 🇬🇧🇬🇧.

Berkshire why would you not have Thomson as part of a management team, he is without a shadow off doubt one off the best coaches in Scotland, he would likely be number three, ie replace Beale.

Eff it just being back Murty if this is the ambition we are showing.

If we lose Gerrard, arguably one of the biggest names in world football and our answer is the manager of Patrick Thistle, I will be totally dumbfounded. Not even as though he is a young up and coming talented manager learning his trade, he’s been operating at that level for years.

John, I would take Thomson as part of a management team but not as our Number 1 and I don't rate McColl or McAllister. I really don't want to see Gerrard go but if he does then we really do need a name that will attract quality players to the club. That said, I saw the note reference Duncan Ferguson earlier and I wouldn't be adverse to him coming in.

At no time have I ever suggested mcann Thomson mcall as number one.
Interesting some don’t want McAllister or other number twos but would take Ferguson, what has he won.

How can we attract big name players with no money John?

I really don’t buy Gerrard is “interested”! Why would he put his reputation on the line for a club that has a history of winning nowt in the modern era, not noted for spending sprees, don’t have a great squad and is nothing more than a mid table club? They’ve had 5 managers in the last 6 years, so even if he was “interested” why would he jump just now when we’re in a good place and this job could be on offer soon again? Other than for family reasons I really can’t see why now he’d be interested! My guess is most of this noise is coming out of the Birmingham area- Seriously think he’d be daft to contemplate this job now and daft isn’t a word used for Stevie G.

Barber, Gio is currently coaching in china. He'd be a good option IMO.

John, apologies if you misunderstood my post. I wasn't suggesting that you had said Thomson as number 1, what I was saying was that I believe he could be a future manager for us if he is given time to develop elsewhere. I can't see him developing at Rangers with McAllister and the thought of McColl being anywhere near our coaching staff is frightening. He is a dinosaur with no success whatsoever as a top flight manager. I wasn't impressed with McAllister before he came to Rangers. Ferguson on the other hand did impress when he was temporarily in charge of Everton and a lot of folks that I know in the Northe West are impressed by the guy. If I was to choose then I would be tempted to go for Smith, (who for me was badly treated at Villa), or Lampard, but I wouldn't say know to Ferguson or Van Bronkhurst. McColl etc., is simply a massive step backwards that would ask real questions of our Board and our DoF.
