Any gossip in who Rangers want to replace Gerrard if he leaves, John25?

you heard who we will get John25.

No, my source believes we will appoint a temporary manager till end of season, favourite being mcinness my god I hope that is wrong.

Knew his back room staff would go gary mac was never going to stay. GvB or Lampard for me. Dean smith possibly top 3 choices.

McInnes would be a massive boot in the haw maws for me. Man was offered the Rangers job on a plate and told us to shove it. Look how far we've came since then. This idea of a temp until the summer is a massive gamble and will be down to the fact we won't have the funds to buy out a good level manager, who is currently in a job. Hoping we win the league and then lure a decent coach with the champs league in the bank. Surely there are better options from guys out of work than McInnes?

I’m all in on him staying……. if I’m wrong I’m wrong. I’ll be raging.
If he does go. League is over. That’s doom mongering for sure, but it will collapse.

Fruit bear I agree with you but what’s to say if we do get McIness in temporarily and he wins the league that rangers won’t just offer him a permanent contract?

I think McInnes KB the job shows you that he was loyal to his club but also that he expected like Warbuton that he would have little funds to make Rangers competitive.
I think he’s a good coach and would be ideal as a short term replacement with the likes of Kevin Thomson being brought in as an assistant would be good short term.
McInnes is very good tactically and every season lost his best players yet managed to keep replacing them.

MacInnes good tactically Do me a favour!

Broxi, that could happen of course it could. But if the current squad of players are playing for a guy that they club don't buy into 100%, then what kind of message does that give to the players? We don't want them dropping off the standards. Most of the better players we have only came to Rangers because playing for Steven Gerrard was a big draw. Yes he was a rookie manager but he is in the elite level of football who has that aura about him.
I just worry that they won't hold a guy like McInnes in the same bracket and will drop below the levels Gerrard gets from them. Look at the improvement in guys like Tavernier, i bet the fact that he wanted to prove to someone like Steven Gerrard that he was a good player had an impact on his vast improvement. Things like that and the undoubted talent of the coaching at Rangers has seen players transform for us.
I hope i am wrong.

Well I would look no further than Gennero Guttuso, I'm sure he would jump at the chance of coming back. Temporary till end of season then contract once we qualify for CL. What's your thoughts guys, only my opinion if SG does go.
12.) 10 Nov 2021
10 Nov 2021 12:26:25
Let's hope it not McInnes. as for all calls for K Thomson let's get real, he's manager of a non leauge team and a very poor league at that and McCoist recommending Dean Smith why would we want a guy who has done/ won nothing. no knowledge of Scottish football.

10 Nov 2021 12:26:47
Mcinnes wins the league and gets offered the job in the showers 🙄 seen that movie before. Would his no.2 Docherty come in? He is a supporter of the east end mob.

Have to agree with all of that fruitbear. He raised our profile a hundred fold. I wish he would have stayed till the end of the season but looking unlikely now. Put me on a right downer tbh.

Let’s just get something right…. MacInnes didn’t want the job!
And we’re going to go to him for a favour
I’m off till this BS is over! I’ll be back in time to admit I was wrong or celebrate he’s staying, not to gloat. Not interested in that. I know most if not all want SG to stay and are concerned of the potential upheaval.
Enjoy.

So. If Gerrard does go, do you think he'll raid our playing staff in the January window? Who do you think he would take to Villa?
What about Defoe? Has he got the necessary badges to step up? We took a risk on Gerrard and it worked for us, so could Defoe be another possible gamble?
Hope to god Gerrard stays though.

Ffs McInnes it’s just handing them the title.

Kent and Kamara will go with him in January and Goldson on freebie by the summer. The way Aston Villa go through managers he'll be wishing he never left us a year from now.

I think Lampard would be a decent shout. Similar footballing profile to Gerrard, players will automatically have a huge amount of respect for him for what he achieved in his career, plays a similar style of football to what we do currently, he's out of work, he's well known to have a huge admiration for Rangers as a club, he's worked at Derby and Chelsea who at the times when he was there didn't spend a load of money (Derby were skint and at Chelsea he had a transfer embargo for his 1st year) that is similar to our current situation. He has good connections at big clubs within the game (always handy), would attract a decent level of player.
For me our current squad is good enough to win the league, we just need someone who will come in that the players will automatically want to play for and who will not change too much. Whether he would want it or not is another matter but it certainly ticks a lot of the boxes IMO.

10 Nov 2021 15:04:52
@john25. Not saying this isn’t the case of SG goes but why would we take a temp manager in what is a massive season….? Surely now would be the time to put our flag to the mast!
I normally look for your comments but I’m not convinced a ‘temp’ unless 2-3 weeks whilst we get someone in would
Be the right or logical choice for the club for a guaranteed £25-30m income!

10 Nov 2021 15:12:40
Ger58 you’ve got to be at the wind up? You don’t want dean smith because he’s won nothing and knows nothing about Scottish football, so by your logic we shouldn’t have went for Gerrard either?
22.) 10 Nov 2021
10 Nov 2021 15:22:39
I totally agree I rock. We need to appoint a top name on a long term deal ie three and half years minimum if gerrard goes.

10 Nov 2021 16:08:58
If we appoint McInnes we will not win the league. The guy has no bottle and rolls over to the lot in the East End. What is more there will be a mass exodus come the summer if not before. Why would any of our quality players want to play for a manager like McInnes. Couldn't even win the league when we weren't in it!
