Being reported Goldson has officially turned down the contract extension. Had heard a while ago it was going to happen. I am due to chat to a friend later who from a short conversation already told me Goldson turned the contract down unofficially a few weeks back and Wilson was aiming the contract comments during the AGM at him. Wilson had a list of 3 CB replacements but Gio and his team have added a further 2.

Yip, read that in Rangers now on Tuesday. It's clear Goldson is not the same player as last year, if he's not totally focused in Rangers then he can go now.

Can’t say I’m surprised by this, seems to have had his head elsewhere since beginning of the season.
Really hope we get a deal done for Doekhi in January for a small fee and I would try the same with John Souttar but this might be more difficult.
Any ideas who the CB’s are that Gio has possibly identified?

Sweep I think John's point is Goldson isn't being transparent. Recently he said he didn't know what was happening with the negotiations - but if he rejected terms then he obviously did. People aren't criticising the bosman market or him running down his contract, it's the fact he's trying to have his cake and eat it.

Would u sell him in January? We would be getting some sort of fee but I expect would be small maybe £0.5m-£1m?
We would also need to buy a replacement as we don’t have the cover in the squad at that standard. That’s not a bad thing to get someone in advance to hit the ground running next season but also has a risk may disrupt our defence and league for rest of this season.

Goldson doesn’t need to tell the fans anything, as far as I’m aware he’s told the club he isn’t accepting the current offer and will leave unless it’s improved. Can’t be any more transparent than that. Why would he tell the fans he wants to leave for another crack at the EPL? It would only go badly for him and our team due to the scrutiny he would be under. Club has a choice offer what he wants or accept he’s leaving in the summer and try and move him on for a few in Jan.

As imo Simpson was a gerrard type off player, ie ball to feet in side box play football.
However I’m not sure he is physical enough for our game, if he plays like he did Ava Celtic for me he shows promise.
He simply can't get near squad, that is tell when we play a left back at ch.

I hope if we do get someone in they're a big mobile cb. I feel we lack speed in the centre half position. Teams opt for a long ball often against us so would be good to have someone who can win the foot race if needed. Big bassey gives you that to a degree but he's still relatively raw at cb.

Bee82 all depends say doehkis cub want 700k to get him in on January and we get offered 600/ 700k for goldson then I think it’s good business basicly straight swap but if doehkia club want 2/ 3 million n we get offers 600/ 700k for goldson in January makes more sense to keep him till end of season and bring doehki in on a free in summer and let goldson leave on a free straight swap basicly no cash cost makes good business sense.

Gerrard snuck out the back door like a thief in the night, it’s only obvious his Lieutenant Goldson is going to do the exact same! I’d rather not see him in a Rangers jersey again, don’t offer him anything else and get him out the door the sooner the better and we can move on- nobody is bigger than this club! Fingers crossed possibly Katic would be ready to come back, Helander back to fitness, pairings of Balogun and Bassey in the short term and possibly Simpson could realise a little potential! Then add a quality signing or 2 and defensively we could be sorted! I don’t want players who are here for extra money or are thinking of elsewhere.
