They have just raised the offer for Tavernier.

The only sensible decision is to sell Tav and try to do the same with others. Wish him well. Been with us through the leagues and he's scored many an important goal for us. However one of a few who's also cost us many an important goal!

I believe Tav is one of the best Right Backs we have ever had. A great player for us and will always be glad he played for us and achieved what he did.
Did we win enough trophies, no. Was he great defensively, no. Great captain, no.
If all 11 players brought to to the table what he did we would have won loads.
Having said this I do believe it is time for him to go and get on with what is left of his career elsewhere. I wish him every success. So the more we get the better.

19 Jul 2024 17:15:36
See if we don’t win anything next season unlike this season were we won a trophy will you admit maybe it was not tav who the problem and half the dross in the team who offer very little? Our squad is full of folk who just aren’t good enough and offer a lot less than tav. Let’s hope we invest the doe smartly on attackers with end product. Seems to me the folk who see what tav has offered aren’t aloud an view ?.

19 Jul 2024 17:28:01
I thought his position should have been right mid but several bosses didn't so I was wrong obviously.
8.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 17:28:21
If we win a trophy or two next season, will you admit Tav may have been the problem?
9.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 17:33:10
I think they are quite loud . And yes a doe is quite deer .
10.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 17:34:52
Can debate his defending but forward stats are incredible and fitness and comittment have been outstanding. Maybe if more were like him there would be more trophies Yes it's time to go but think he'll be greatly missed by the majority. A big thanks for all the goals and memories Tav. Maybe not a legend but if likes of Wallace and McCulloch are viewed like that by some he's certainly a modern day great.
11.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 17:36:58
half the team includng tav barsic goldson jack roofe did not contibute
a lot last season and most were
our highestearners.

Blue runner not sure your age, tav would not make top 10 best right backs I’ve seen play for us.
13.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 17:55:53
Raskin the folk who see it? we all seen Tavernier doing a good job for us over the years, over the last three months of the season i've never seen him play as bad for us, his time is up, maybe they folk can't see that.
14.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 18:06:55
Another part of the problem is signing players who are injured.
15.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 18:19:30
To add to the debate.
Do I think it’s the right time to sell - yes if we get a good fee.
Sterling can hopefully perform but is untested for us at right back and had some injury worries. Hopefully Devine proves me wrong also.
I think Tav has been an excellent signing. Incredible value for money. Totally professional and incredible fitness.
Defensively could be a liability but a lot of that to do with how far up he plays.
Has declined over the past two years so probably right to sell, but been a great signing.
Hopefully we won’t, but I think we will miss him when he’s gone.
16.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 18:42:43
Bee, we won't miss him in defence. You're correct, he has declined over the last two seasons.
17.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 18:47:33
John,
Big statement,
Name the top 10 right backs you’ve seen that are ahead Tav please.
I’m not doubting your correct but interested nonetheless.
18.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 18:54:14
What a load of crap raskin if we don’t win trophies this season without Tav then it’s the same as the majority of the time Tav has been here and will prove nothing.
I think some rangers fans have failed to take their medication the last couple of days.
19.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 18:58:17
Interestingly stats would suggest that last season alone it wasn’t our defensive record that lost us the league,
More the inability to break teams down, score goals and finish teams off.
20.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 19:00:47
If Tav goes then he does so with my best wishes, sick of reading snipes and jabs about the guy and think his treatment by certain sections of the rangers fanbase. We should all be careful of what we wish for. He has been amongst the top scorers and goal contributors at the club every season he was with us.
now I know he wasn't the best defender at the club but he has done more good than bad. Nowadays people are quick to jump on a player and heavily criticise them every week. Any player that pulls on that Jersey deserves our full support.
I hear people saying 9 years and only what 4 trophys that's not all his fault, he is part of a team, there are 11 players on the pitch so they win and lose as a team, not win as a team and lose as Tavernier.
21.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 19:09:09
Raskin Tav is not solely the problem but he was one of the problems in the run in last season. He's been poor defensively for years and his goals and assists have bailed him out and given him credit in the bank but last season he scored 5 goals, he's as slow as hell and an absolute bombscare at the back. Take yourself back to 20 seconds into the old firm game because that's the Tav that we're getting now. The 2 games after he gave away possession in the first minute almost costing a goal each time. If you guys are so blind to the fact that James Tavernier is finished then maybe you should go support his new team whoever it may be because he'll need your support. I thank him for his service and wish him all the best.

19 Jul 2024 19:09:39
Our club is bigger than tav…folk going on like he is the best thing since dani alves. He has been a magnificent signing for the us and been a brilliant servant but his time is up along with 5 or 6 others, The squad has been stale for the last 2 or 3 seasons, along with poor judgment on players by previous managers and the board has put us in a poor situation. Now PC and NK have to sort out the mess left behind, that’s going to take a lot of time. Lack of finances are forcing the hand now, so it time to sell and get what we can. We need to move on as a club and try and get stability back in place. If that means bringing through youth players or signing young potential talent then so be it, it might not bring instant success but it will help us be be a more financially stable and better run club.

19 Jul 2024 19:37:20
2020 you may want to check the captains stats for last season (17G 10A from RB) . He most certainly contributed a lot and significantly more than most. He did make mistakes and costly ones at that at times but these are largely amplified by those around him failing to stand up and be counted for - how many times has he been the one to come up with a winning goal/ assist from RB? His positives in my book, over the piece greatly outweigh the negatives. By his high standards a poor final few months, yes - but overall the abuse he gets is unjust.
That being said - IF we are getting £4mill for him I wish him all the best and think selling is the correct call to reinvest given we have a ready made replacement in Sterling for RB (who 100% deserves a starting 11 place be that RB or CM) .
We should have had a better structure/ system to provide more cover for him via RCB/ CDM position given his attacking ability but no point crying over spilt milk.
Thank you for your service captain tav - as others have said if his colleagues had provided his level of endeavour/ professionalism/ commitment his captaincy would have been more successful. He can’t shoulder the blame for a team of bottlers. Remember he was the guy to step up and win the cup.
Anyway, onwards and upwards and as always - in big bad bald Phil we trust.

John
Not sure of your age, I’d put the following ahead of Tav (in no particular order)
Jardine
Stevens
Johansen
Shearer
Hutton
Porrini
Vidmar
I think Tav would make it into top 10 right backs I’ve seen.
26.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 20:05:34
Agree and said it numerous times he was horrible after the split and should go. But folk saying he’s been bad all season then why was he up for Scottish player of the year? Time to move on but don’t see us laying a glove on Celtic this season again and will the same folk attack sterling or butland who has done basically nothing against Celtic ether?
27.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 20:05:56
Wouldn't sell for any less than 5 million his stats are amazing for a RB. given his age n stuff 5 million would be bang on.
28.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 20:08:05
Butland should have saved that 20 seconds in he gets made out to be this special keeper, make him captain etc rooted to the line far to much for Me. Good shot stopper but no in the likes of shagger lol no many rangers captains needed to come up from the lower leagues etc anyone expecting us to win trebles etc are mad. Celtic are run far better than us it’s a fact. There recruitment blows us out the water.
29.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 20:09:37
Kyle walker he is looked at as one of the best right backs in the world he got 3 assists last year.
30.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 20:15:28
*correction. According to transfermarket it was in fact 24 goals and 12 assists across all comps (58 games) .
31.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 20:51:35
2020, how you can put Tav alongside non contributors like Jack and Roofe and even Barisic and Goldson is beyond me. He had a really bad last couple of months when he looked knackered to me but as the one guy who is asked to play every game ( 60 odd I believe) that is no surprise. We won one trophy, Tav won us both the semi and the final with his goals, hardly not contributing, plus numerous important goals in the league and in Europe . It may well be time for him to leave the club especially if we get a good offer for a 33 year old but again if anyone things we will be stronger at right back with Sterling as first choice and Devine as back up is deluding themselves .
32.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 21:24:27
That was not Butland fault for that goal against them ? that was Tav unable to defend and then shat the bed because madiea was catching him.
33.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 22:03:47
Nonsense co2 we conceded double amount of goals last season as title win season
Season before that 3xamount conceded
Season before that again 3xamount roughly again
So the stats do point to defense being the problem or a problem.
34.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 22:33:23
Raskin I’m sorry but what are you on about? Tav’s fault all day long! I’m not going to bash Tav but I think it’s time to give Sterling a run at right back.
35.) 19 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 22:58:14

36.) 20 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 23:12:11
You know our fanbase just love peddling a sh*te narrative and making someone a scapegoat when Tav gets all the heat for his defending and he’s not even top 2 of the worst defenders in that back 4 ? Souttar and Goldson, 2 absolute liabilities get nowhere near the heat Tavs got over the years and that’s their only job. Souttar’s individual mistakes cost us a ridiculous amount of goals last season. Even Goldson who openly admitted in a podcast he bottled it and pulled out of clearing the Frankfurt cross for fear of scoring an own goal. Barisic an absolute liability too. Tav’s bombin up and down a wing for 60 games a season trying to cover the role of a RW and a RB because the club never recruited a proper RW to support him ? This season the haters will realise what Tav brought to Rangers and how let down he’s been by others not pulling their weight. Best of luck JT ?.
37.) 20 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 23:13:01
Bankie vidmar was a left back I’m sure and was terrible.
My only memories of porrini were us getting thumped in the champions league unfortunately : (.
38.) 20 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 23:19:00
Raskin mcgregor edges butland for me. But with the defenders we have, Butland coming to collect takes a lot of pressure off.
Mcgregor also scores more points on the basis he makes love to a number of women per evening.
39.) 20 Jul 2024
19 Jul 2024 23:21:28
If Tav had played further up for Rangers, nobody would have an issue but as a right back he is atrocious. There is more to that position than goals and assists.
What annoys me is that he works tirelessly on his set pieces but never tried to improve his defending. His ego is unbelievable. He's more interested in his own stats than he is the amount of trophies he's won. Or not won for that matter.
40.) 20 Jul 2024
20 Jul 2024 11:02:39
Tav had 24 goals last season so your numbers are well off.
