I'm hearing it's just slowed down with agm and new CEO appointment no worries from players or club.

He needs to sign before the summer transfer window opens. That should be the deadline. And if he doesn’t then he gets moved in and we bring in a replacement which we should have already identified.

Hopefully he re-signs.

How has it stalled, his present deal runs to June 2026. What’s the hurry.

This is how easily folk are influenced by press non stories. No one was worried about or even thinking about Souttar signing a new contract. It then gets mentioned in a press conference, confirmed it’s just an on going thing, and suddenly folk are talking about getting him sold on. It’s not even a story at this time.

Had heard deal was on the table, part of Koppen plan was to stop key players and assets getting to last 18 months of a contract without a decision. Hopefully the big man signs it.

Soutter shouldn’t need to sign anything until his current deal is up panic stations for no reason.

Undoubtedly for me, we should be building our defence around big john 'soapy' souttar ?I think the big man will sign a new deal and stay with the rangers ???.

I think it should be obvious to any Rangers fan why we want him to sign a new deal soon. If he runs down to 12 months any resale value diminishes. Then into the last year you might as well say he's leaving for nothing. We've been burned too many times. If he doesn't sign a new deal get him sold.

Hopefully signed up and he continues to stay fit, Soapy has been great for club and country, all round from positioning to last ditch blocks he has been top, would cost few bob to replace the player with anyone who could give the same as he is giving at moment.

That’s nonsense raskin. We have been stung wjth letting players run down their contract for to long. If he hasn’t signed by next summer he should be sold.

The reason PC even mentioned the new deal is so we are aware that with 18 months to go that if he hasn't signed by the summer he will be sold. He has made it pretty clear that we have been burned by players running down their deals and that this must stop.

Pretty sure the OP is asking or wondering that if the deal is on the table why hasn't he signed it.

At least another year b4 this even discussed surely? Half a dozen good games without injury, and some are panicking?
Only 6 months since he was being castrated like a few others, take a breath guys!

yes and at the time PC said we will see how things go in the next couple of months, not 6 days later. I think that means that talks are ongoing as he says it has progressed when things are arranged. these things take time.

Souttar has absolutely no desire to leave us. He is living his dream as he is a massive blue nose. For me he should be next captain should Tav go. I can honestly see him finishing his career with us as long as he is fit and good enough to play.

Correct Bellshill he loves Rangers and has been superb this season with the way he's been playing we're lucky to have him.

He is 28 his contact takes him up to 30
3 months or so before hie is 31. He has had some injuries yes he’s been great but would not be offering him more than a one years extension.

RFC I understand it’s two years on the table.

bellshilllad83,john souttar wasn't a boyhood bluenose mate ?His mum is the bluenose in the family and a rangers season ticket holder and i'm sure his dad was either an aberdeen or dundee utd supporter and is originally from up that area ?Not to say big soapy is not an adopted bluenose now though ???.

Even allowing for us giving big john souttar a new 2 year contract extension it would take him up to around the 32 years old mark, which still isn't old for a centre half ?With souttar's unfortunate injury problems when he was younger, this could actually help prolong his football career became of a lot of missed games, through injury ?A centre half who looks after himself and is fortunate with injuries can easily play especially in the scottish league up until his late 30's minimum ?I think and hope john 'soapy' souttar, will be at least a decade as a glasgow rangers player and yes undoubtedly, a future rangers captain ???.

Rangers are notorious slow when it comes 2 new deals can't see any problems the big man's playing some off his best football and seems happy at the club.
