Wtf thought he was one to watch for the future, something afoot? ?.

That is a shame if he has been freed as looked a really good player when we first brought him in shame he could not kick on and show all his talent.

John the boy was picking up a wage higher than most SPL players. Another disastrous contract by Ross Wilson. The player never kicked on or looked like he would make it.

Shame it didn’t work out, looked like he had something but I guess not.

Had high hope for the lad obviously not got the mentality. He'll.

He'll never get a better platform.

We were paying 8k a week, beat Man City and Chelsea to his signature, he was on trial at notts forest few weeks ago.

That's a strange 1 John.

8k a week, f@@k me!

10 Dec 2024 03:32:08
That’s insane money for a club like ours. I imagine Barron is on something like that?

Not to say, we shouldn’t but you would need to be certain the okay is going to make it.

That's a shame, he not kicked on and rarely saw his name in B team. Really beginning to think what's the point of the academy now. 1.We don't give youth a chance, 2.Scottish football blocks development with nothing bridging between academies and first team, 3.we clearly having to overpay to convince kids to come up, 4. Crossborder rules mean we barely make anything from transfers as scottish clubs can't afford anything. English clubs can make millions from academy kids within same country while we just hope for compensation or sell ons.

I think Forest are looking at him where Wilson and Mulholland went. £8k a week nothing to them.

13.) 10 Dec 2024
10 Dec 2024 09:28:29
Hasn't even made the bench yet. Let him go, especially if he's on that money. Another not good enough.

14.) 10 Dec 2024
10 Dec 2024 09:29:04
John are you able to let us know what position the bosman plays in? I’m guessing if we are paying a small fee for him to come in early that he’s better than what we have in that position?

"Not to say, we shouldn’t but you would need to be certain the okay is going to make it. "

How does a club go about making certain that a youth prospect will "make it"? Every club in world football signs youth players, they try to develop these youth players as best they can, in the hope they "make it". There is no way to make certain someone will make it. Even the brightest prospects tend to fall short at senior level.

Bears bear, rangers want him integrated b4 next season, we r looking at deals to move king Devine Lowry in this window.

Clement u r correct, also negative behaviour can have a vert serious impact on a player remaining at a club, look at Dickson.

There was huge hype about us signing Ishaka and we paid a big wage to get him and beat off the competition . The feeling was that he would only go into the B team to get match fit but the opposite has happened, he has never got near a first team place, under 3 different managers and despite us being short of wide men at times.
Not surprised he is leaving but its a bit strange that in the summer Forest wanted him and apparently walked away because we were being too difficult to deal with, to now free him rather than take some cash for him then seems like another bit of bad business. Of course we are only commenting on the stories in the media at the time.

I'd be glad to see the back of king, devine, Lowry. Heard none of them are interested 1 bit, all happy to just take a wage and see out their deals. Add mckinnon to that.

Give young players like rice, Curtis the platform to get games. Heard Curtis was given a deal to prove himself, last time round as he wasn't overly convincing and the boy has really kicked on. That's the attitude these young boys need. Most of them think they've made it already. Devine will be at arbroath or some team like that soon.

CHOF, it’s very easy to see which prospects are certain to make the grade. I take Johns point regarding attitude and behaviour which is fair enough but not every youth player is a prospect from a technical point of view. Some are very much the real deal at a young age and those are the types of players that we should be pushing the boat out for at that age group.

If you want some examples, then from this league only I would use mccarthey from Hamilton, miller from Motherwell and the souttar brothers at Dundee Utd. All of whom were certs to make it. At least to a standard worthy of an £8k per week salary.

Over the years though from further a field I can think of dozens and youth players that were absolute standouts that were certs to make it. Van der vaart, Joe Cole, Wayne Rooney etc etc etc. these are the types of prospects I’m talking about.

Maybe they thought this lad would be that good and fair enough, there has been loads of times when teams have regretted not signing a player when they had the chance but typically speaking I do t think we have a good record in this department.

10 Dec 2024 15:40:21
What position does this bosman play John, still don't think that questions been answered?

21.) 10 Dec 2024
10 Dec 2024 18:34:03
zikos if it were that easy then no professional clubs academy would have to release tens of players every year. they make a decision and it often is the wrong one. if you want examples of stars who have been released then look at Jamie Vardy, Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Andy Robertson, Frank Ribery and Lewis Ferguson. the last was released by us and I don't think we have a good record of bringing players through. it might be why we are looking at revamping it and getting rid of a lot of who we have.

22.) 10 Dec 2024
10 Dec 2024 18:39:23
Change subs rule to 3 any age and 2 at 21 or under then youth players will get more of a chance. Pressure is so big at Rangers that managers often can’t risk giving youth guys a chance unless we are a few goals ahead or at end of season. If there’s 2 slots available from bench more would get more minutes.

23.) 11 Dec 2024
11 Dec 2024 02:12:17
Angus, I’m not talking about pro youth players. I’m talking about 18yr olds. The same age Ishaka was when we signed him. You can tell at that age which players are going to make it, hence the amount that are released each year. Of those ones that are released it’s only a small % that make it to the top.

What I’m saying is, I’m not against offering a big salary to a young player - at the end of the day it could be a great investment, but it needs to be the right ones. I understand that there is still development potential which may or not be realised but it’s not always a gamble, there are youth players out there that are certs to make it and those are the ones we should be targeting those types of salaries.

Maybe the club thought Ishaka was one of those, but for me he would not have met the criteria. For me a player in that category should have loads of youth caps at u18, u21 etc. I don’t think Ishaka has any.

Sorry John, was down at Fulham for a few days, so playing catch up.

Hearing some very disappointing info regarding Ishaka - something that's impacted a few players at our club and a lot of young players in general.

Sad waste of talent and a massive missed opportunity that I'm sure he'll look back on for years to come.

25.) 11 Dec 2024
11 Dec 2024 09:13:50
He was on 4K a week not 8K, regardless far too much for a b team player.

would we be wrong to suggest ??. regarding ishaka?

Heard similar things with Lowry a while ago.

Chelsea released Solanke on a free back when he was 19, what a mistake that turned out to be, Liverpool picked him up on a free then flogged him for 22 mill to bournemouth who then sold him to tottenham for 64 mill lmfao.

30.) 11 Dec 2024
11 Dec 2024 15:33:44
Another Star who could've been good also, christ wish I had half their ability when I played.

think bournemouth are the iones laughing.
hes not the n that calibre of the price they paid. no way is he worth that.
average striker at that level.

{Ed001's Note - the mistake was clearly Spurs'.}

32.) 11 Dec 2024
11 Dec 2024 17:15:41
a very big mistake at that.

and ange is the scapegoat.
how many managers have been the victim of bad signings from dof.

33.) 12 Dec 2024
12 Dec 2024 14:15:02
Maybe tomorrow with a lot of Spurs 1st team players out we can give Ange a double nightmare lol, a loss to us will surely seal his sacking and take us through to the next stage and of course losing to us will be a major slap down for him lmfao.
