Reading some of these favoured team sheets and it's got me thinking about Diomande in there.
The boy was brimming with confidence in his 1st few games and it showed in his play: shooting from outside the box (and scoring), playing clever forward passes, etc.
He was fearless.
He looked a shoo in as a regular goal scoring cm for us.
What has happened to him?
Has his mentality been shot by spending too much time in the company of serial losers Tav, et al?
Has he lost the will to live being in the same team as Wright, Souttar?

i have my own thoughts on the team mate, and i have a suspicion that clemente rangers team in 6 months won’t include the likes of lawrence, diomande, yilmaz or desserts, and canteell probably won’t darken our door again now, i think after euro position is clear there will be a raft of in and outgoings, we weren’t good enough to beat celtic to the league with these guys last season, and it was virtually handed to them on a plate but they couldn’t do it, then lost to celtic yet again, it’s not only tav who isn’t good enough, rangers really need another 4 first team players who know how to win, not capitulate when faced with a challenge at home, europe is a different ball game, winning at home is everything first and foremost, i would like the guys i’ve mentioned replaced with better, and i think some if not all will happen, imo.

Think he needs a bit more freedom to join in with the attack, he looks less comfortable in the engine room when he is closed down quick and needing to stay disciplined, possibly playing as a 10 or with a bit more freedom may help him, maybe with an experienced head in there might help him.

It's a poor post because it's just another way to slag off Tavernier. I know many haven't a good word to say about him but to blame him for Diomonde playing poorly is laughable.

Being honest and responding to your post TT12,i honestly don't think dessers or diomande will be leaving rangers mate ? I personally think dio could be moved forward into a more advanced attacking midfield role if we can sign a good no.6? Regarding big dessers, unless some other club comes with at least £4million, i can't see us selling him mate ? We won't sign another striker unless one is sold ?.

Tom if diomande isn’t in the team in 6 months then clement and the scout have a lot to answer for, unless he is sold at a profit.
Peoples opinions of diomande are becoming what I’ve said since last season.
Happy to 4.5 for this guy but nobody wants us to pay £3/ 4m for miller.
It’s actually insanity man.

Dio has been played as a defensive midfielder, that's the difference. Lawrence has been played further forward meaning dio has to be disciplined and play alongside Barron as a dm.

Diomande is 22 years old and playing in a rangers team that isn’t performing overly well. He will also benefit from an experienced/ defensive minded midfielder in beside him and Barron which will mean he can focus more going forward. Just now he is trying to do everything. An of course he will still be in the team in 6 months, clement clearly rates him.

It's not only tav, there's many. I do believe the op is righ in his regards to dio, he looked awesome for 4-5 games but has looked off it since then. He needs to maybe concentrate on his own game instead of constantly directing players round about him, although there was 2-3 times against kiev you could see he was getting really pissed when looking for an out ball, maybe needs better around him. I'm not writing him off, far from it, but I do expect more, see it in glimpses just not often enough.

He is young and hopefully will develop into a better all round player, I’ve no doubt he will improve with a good experienced player alongside him in the midfield, positives are he is comfortable on both feet and has a good engine, just needs to make his first touch more secure and his awareness.

Diomande is getting used more in a defensive role, but it's easy to spot his talent, play him further forward then you'll see a difference in him, Tom you mean Diomande sold for a profit?

Dio covering some ground and always looking for ball, giving away a few passes and fouls as well, that will improve when team get used to shape and if he can be moved up a bit with Barron, Stirling or whoever comes in doing more of the defensive work, the boy is a good player who can make space for himself and get a shot away, think he could become a fan favourite given time.

My midfield would be:-
Sterling Barron
With Diomande just in front.
Now I know that leaves Tav at RB but I can't see anyone coming in for him or Clement dropping him.
But it gives us a young, mobile, energetic midfield. Where Diomande in a slightly more attacking position where I feel he would be more effective.
