Would folk stop saying "he's better than what we have" about certain players coming in. It's nothing to do with better than what we have. They need to be better than what the OTHER mob have or at least the potential to be.

Is pretty simple, we don't have the money for better than the other mob off the bat, and if we just buy potential, then Caixinha will get the chop next season because the team won't be competitive and the fans will be all over him. We need to be clever about our business next couple of windows and develop a solid, competitive team, then hopefully we can get ourselves in a better position legally/ financially etc to add better players down the line.

Underdogs can win the league as long as the team is competitive.

If we buy all the 32 year olds that are being mentioned though they'll be done in two years and we'll be back to square one. So it doesn't matter if they're better than what we have. Bottom line is a scouting system needs to be put in place. Are you not concerned about Pedro only getting people he knows? Warburton did that and it was dreadful. The best clubs look for young potential with sell on value. Even look at what celtic have done with wanyama, van dijk etc.

As long as they are good players I don't care where they come from. Yes we need a better scouting system but is that a realistic target for this window? That kind of thing, although seemingly obvious the way forward, takes time to implement.

Wanyama joined Celtic, £1m, Van Dijk £2.5m, these players still cost money and again comes down to luck if they are available at the right time for the right price.

If we have to build for this next 2 seasons to become competitive so be it, then we can continue to build from there. There are many steps ahead for the club to get to the level it wants to be.

I don't think Pedro is targeting old players tho is he? That striker and right back from Mexico are both young and so is the Ghanaian defender so only Bruno alves but imo he would be a fantastic signing to sturdy it up at the back.

Other than them names mentioned we have had Naismith and dorrens not actually old and jack and McLean are still young so I don't see we're all the links to older players are? Like any team you need a good mix and balance and if he starts with defenders the Ghanaian 25 year old fast strong alongside alves older experienced no nonsense that to me is a great start.

Stu is blu i agree. However are you overlooking the amount of dross they signed at same time that they thought would have sell on value. For every wanyama there was 5 or 6 duds. can't mind manager at time was it lennon but i recall from phone ins etc talk was he never signed a decent forward.
