Tell you what, I know I slagged the women before but I can't believe what happened at the end. That must be the 2 worst decisions I've ever seen. Are the goalkeepers supposed to stand behind the line? And what happened to injury time? Really feel sorry for the girls. They did not get one decision during the 3 games.

You could argue that they've been done by VAR in all three games, although technically both decisions last night were correct. Extra time, however, was not.

That said, what's cost them the game last night was poor poor defending from a strong and comfortable position.

There are some technically gifted players there, but the game looked and felt very scrappy/ bitty with a lot of loose balls. Scotland had an opportunity at 3 up to simply keep position and play it around.

Overall, and I haven't watched a lot of the tournie, the women's game has clearly made strides, but there's still some way to go IMHO.

Why would they have to stand behind the line? It is because the keeper jumped off the line to save the penalty. You are bot aloud that. So a retaken. This is the rules.

Currently every penalty kick would need to be retaken then as every one i've ever seen has the goalie off his line when the ball is struck. Imagine if there was a shoot out. It would go on all night. The Scotland goalie did well to go only a foot off her line and then make a brilliant double save, only to get booked and to face another penalty. Has anybody on these sites ever seen a goalkeeper stay on his line when a penalty is struck? I know I haven't. Goalies are taught to step forward just before the kick is taken. I think this is fair as it gives the goalie a chance. To be penalised for being a foot from the line is ludicrous imo. Rant over.

Shocking decision. the players are lining up to shoot down var already. Was never for it and said on here many times it will make a mockery of football. How many decisions has it got wrong already in big games it's embarrassing.

Tbh I was for it but it seems to have become a lottery and it takes far too long to arrive at a decision.

Watch the England u21sgame when keeper saves dembele penalty, he's much further off his line than the Scotland goalie, no retake.

Frustrated Blue. That's exactly what I have been saying. Every penalty needs to be retaken if they stick rigidly to the rules.
