The longer Rangers and Celtic stay in Scotland, the longer we will ruin our clubs. Should be a joint push by the 2 clubs to get us into the English League.

I love to see it but just can't see it happening best option would be some form of British Cup with the bigger teams taking part possibly carrot of a European place for winner see how that works commercially
But give us and celtic a level playing field financially and we would both more than hold our own look at villa 120m for getting in EPL celtic 3.5 m ish for winning spfl! Joke.

Atlantic League is the only option but UEFA would just refuse it in the sense they wouldn't allow those teams into europe. If there is a break away, with teams like barcelona, real, psg, man city and the like who feel they would be better off in there own league then a HUGE overhaul would need to take place. They would have to allow all teams in UEFA to have a vote and that could be the death of UEFA. Media decides really. If Sky or Fox or someone like that offers the big teams insane money to make a league then that league will happen. From there personally I would see a european league tier system. Where you play a season in europe and maybe play in your own countries cup competition. We would not be at the top table. Maybe 2nd division. Atlanic League was always about the size of our clubs and the fact that some of the biggest supported clubs in europe wouldn't make it straight into europe even after winning there own leagues but teams that didn't even win there leagues could enter straight into it. Atlanic League was a threat that UEFA brushed as we are nothing to them.

Why? would the biggest clubs in England want to play our teams in a British Cup
Its all about money - they have it in barrowloads, we don't and until we get the % of SKY money that subscribers in Scotland pay v England = even if its 5%, its huge compared to what is currently paid out up here.

Don't think the big boys would even look to take us into there euro / Atlantic league tbh, I think England is the only option Welsh teams play in there so we have a good argument to get in. if both teams moved at once we would still have old firms and within a few year the money would start to roll in, could look at having feeder teams within Glasgow. Think it would actually help Scottish football a give other teams a chances to progress Scottish player at the top and then 2 Scottish teams playing in England.

Bar 72 most people in Scotland don’t pay sky to watch Scottish football tho.
I certainly don’t that’s for sure.

GANNET10 - I don't think everyone in England 'pay' for it either. But 500 mill or is pumped into it.
When premier League teams can let people in for nothing, & still make a profit there's something seriously wrong.
SKY have them by the short and curlies now and it would be very interesting if they were to scale back on the handouts.

If someone invested serious money in Aberdeen or hearts, made them compete with the old firm proper, our game would improve. Saying that, take the foreign players our the English top flight, and it's not exactly great.

Aberdeens biggest investment is when someone buys a can of Iron bru and a Double Decker from the vending machine. If they want serious money install one of those machines you see at the shows with the claw that never picks up a toy, fill it full of cuddly sheep and watch the money roll in.

Without Old Firm, TV revenue would be next to nothing. SFA need to investigate setting own TV Channel up because the world wide revenue generated each year from these games, could seriously move not just old firm but other clubs to a new level.

An interesting idea and not trying to shoot you down just thinking as I type, Celtic and Rangers already have all live games available worldwide, is the revenue that vast - don't no the figures but surely if it was then the old firm would already be on to a winner. The viewing figures for the old firm is not as high as it used to be, but I think they are slowly increasing again due to the resurgence of Rangers and the SPL as a whole.

Once they reach a certain point advertisement money should increase followed with more prize money for the SPL, better players will be attracted and therefore viewing/ attendance will increase, followed by more higher value advertisement and media interest, more money and so on. Its a pretty easy concept that i'm taking no credit for but we must make our game easy on the eye to gain traction and that starts with the diddy teams and coaches - play football . 5 points for an away win would be a good start at stopping all the buses being parked up at Ibrox.

Gannet, tend to agree. Midweek match at Rugby Park in front of 5,000 is something vowed never to see again. No atmosphere, noise, excitement, nothing. This is not a viable product. Only viable product in Scotland is Gers and Tic. From marketing perspective still think there must be a superior league we can join, but who/ / where I simply don't know.
