Guys, please accept my condolences. It’s really sad that someone as talented and strong should lose his life so early in this way. I might be from the other side but I’m saddened by this and I know a lot of my fellow tims are. I’m sure you’ll give him a send off that reflects what he meant to your club and to Scottish football.

RIP Fernando Ricksen, tragic for his family but a release for him. Horrible illness at any time but especially for someone so young and previously fit. Wish his family well.

Celtic fan here, condolences to the Ricksen family and the Rangers family on the death of Fernando. We may be rivals on the pitch but in moments like this there is no rivalryjust shared grief at the sad loss of a young man and talented footballer. R. I. P.

Class responses guys. Illness doesn’t have colours. Away from the banter and suchlike, that takes class to add your comments. Appreciated.

The rivalry between our two clubs is one of the greatest in world football. Sometimes some of us take it too far but at times like this it’s worth remembering, it’s only a fkn game. Life is far more important and I’m not ashamed to say that looking at a picture of him with his daughter today, I cried. To deprive him of the chance to see her grow up is unimaginable cruelty, yet he kept a positive outlook. He must’ve had the heart of a lion and he has my upmost respect. I plan to take my daughter, who is also Celtic daft, to Ibrox to lay our tributes to the man. I want her to grow up respecting our rivals. I hope you don’t mind the odd Celtic scarf among the tributes as I know we appreciated the Rangers scarfs that were left in tributes to big Billy when he passed away.

Heartbreaking day. Have a daughter same age and same name. Not ashamed to say shed afew tears.
But Ricksen would want reactions on the pitch and awareness made about the disease. You did The Rangers Family proud Fernando.
