I see scumdee utd have said they'd listen to offers for Shankland, personally I'd love to see him at Ibrox. He's got great finishing so if the service is there he will score at least 15-20 goals.

So did Nicky Clark at a lower level and thay didn't work out. Don't have anything against Shankland but I can't see how he gets minutes ahead of Morelos or Defoe just now.

If morelos gets injured or suspended I'm sure Shankland would be doing everything to make a name for himself not many people want to give him the chance.
Shankland ain't nick Clarke or ally Mccoist he's Lawrence Shankland and I hope that name doesn't come back to haunt us. Just saying.

It good enough for us and I’d be very unhappy if we wasted money on him.

Forget nicky clark mate. Because nicky clark failed to make the step up to rangers, doesn't mean lawrence shankland can't! Football just doesn't work like your assumptions Ger88,ie. if one player doesn't make it at rangers then that's a guarantee that another striker won't make it.
How do you, me or anyone know for definitely that shankland won't go on to be the next ally mccoist? You don't know and i think we just can't afford to miss out on shankland as i think this guy will be better than clark and i rate him as a terrific finisher with both feet and his head.

Ger 88,morelos won't be with us shortly my friend.

Good point sgl.

We should of got Shankland from Ayr UTD fir nowt.

I recon if we played to Shankland s strengths he would score for fun. But fans would also have to realise he’s a different type of striker than Morelos. Would probably be a wee gamble but I think he’d do well if we played to his strengths. Only thing is, I’d hate to give them a penny.

bgate w I also hate to give them a penny, but I also don't want to cut of my nose to spite my face. I have been battering on about shankland's goal scoring exploits on here for months, and we should give the lad a chance, but the only person who is also seems able to see through the mist is SGL. As I said on a previous post, I used to watch the late great DAVIE COOPER when he played for Clydebank. If we had followed the same logic of HE PLAYS FOR A SO CALLED LESSER TEAM so we can't take a chance we would never have signed him. I am not remotely trying to compare Shankland with Davie Cooper, but the same logic applies. GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE TO SHOW WHAT HE CAN DO.

Nicky Clarke also didn't have Kent, Tav, Hagi, Barisic, feeding him. The boy might have done better if he had.

02 Jun 2020 14:14:27
I think most people’s real problem with Shankland is that we know we could have had him for free last year and it would have been a reasonable gamble to take giving him a contract, however this sticks in peoples throats now with the thought of that gamble having a 1-1.5m fee on top when we could have had him. I personally wanted him last year but I am against paying for him now.

12.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 14:36:50
Stephen Dobbie was a prolific goalscorer in that division his whole career and also played at a higher level down South.
Would you have paid £1 million for him 2 years ago when he out scored Shankland?
Shankland was a no risk gamble on a free - now at the price Scumdee Utd will probably demand it isn't worth it.
And in my opinion Shankland isn't good enough anyway. 👍.

13.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 15:08:35
So if steven gerrard thought he was even better now and be the next scoring sensation in scotland, by your assumption coully, we shouldn't sign him because we would need to pay a very modest transfer fee? No chance mate. If the important people at rangers think shankland is the man, then go and get him signed. I would definitely like us to sign him!

14.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 15:19:05
SGL as a matter of interest what do u value shankland and dykes at, I see both clubs say 2 million plus.
We scouted shankland at Ayr more than ten times and did not take him for nothing.
Makes me think we don’t rate him or we need to sack scouts.
I also think Taylor will be signed for nothing.

15.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 16:00:00
I also think lyle taylor is a certainty to be signed by us, John25
Regarding shankland, i think the reason we've kept scouting him is monitoring his consistent improvement, each season mate, its a chance rangers are prepared to take because if we do move for shankland he'll most definitely want to come to us, as he's a massive rangers supporter. I think being honest shankland would now cost us around £2million because he's well under contract. I think we would get lyndon dykes cheaper at around £1million,
as he's going into the last year of his contract.

16.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 16:48:58
Right, I would not pay two million for a player still playing in championship when we could have had him for nothing.
I’m told gerrard does not see him as a lone striker for us.
My research on Taylor could be a useful back up for little money in terms of wages
Being told two year deal.

17.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 16:54:59
John25, I think Dundee United would be open to a player plus cash deal if we were interested, only problem I have, is, I don't know which player we would offer.

18.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 17:26:44
anybody given any thought as to why scumdee are prepared to listen to offers for shankland, they have just been awarded promotion so it would be better to see how he does in the top league, i think they want to cash in on him for greed, rotten club with no ambition.

19.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 17:26:55
John25 dykes is valued at £425k on transfermarkt obviously motherwell will try their paw abit.
But look at hagi deal we had set price but got cheaper due to the plummet in player values worldwide.

KPMG just did a audit on worldwide transfers/ players value etc and predict a 10 billion pound drop due to C. V. so good time to pick u a bargain👍.

02 Jun 2020 17:46:03
Guys there's a striker currently playing in belgium and his head at last seems to be in the right place again. He's very talented and his name is saido berahino and if gerrard could get his head right, he would be the one, no doubt about it, as he's a very talented striker.

21.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 20:26:49
Instead of dykes, coop? 😁.

22.) 02 Jun 2020
02 Jun 2020 21:14:09
Would take him as a punt on a free, expect utd will want more than I think we should pay with what will be a limited budget for transfers. Anything north of half a mill max not worth the risk and look elsewhere (that's being generous)

23.) 03 Jun 2020
03 Jun 2020 00:01:48
Now, you have given shankland, dykes, berahino, and according to your guessing, Taylor is a certainty
How many more before the football starts mate,

24.) 03 Jun 2020
03 Jun 2020 14:05:56
Ger4life, pay a couple of million for shankland, and if he gets a decent wage all the better, than he flops, what next, mate?

25.) 03 Jun 2020
03 Jun 2020 21:22:47
Paulellen, pay a couple of million for Shankland and bangs them in left right and headers, what next mate.
You have no trust in the guy, I do.
But none of us know who is right or wrong. No one on this sit down and the theatre was packed every people might think they know, me included, that's our opinions.

Paulellen,
Pay a couple of mil for Shankland and he bangs them in left right and headers, what next mate.
You don't know and I don't know, no one on this site knows if he's good or poor. People think they know me included but we don't.
My opinion is we should have got him b4 dundee utd, but would still take him now.
Respect. 😊.
