Can't speak for the rest of my fellow bears,
but i honestly think gerrard has made a mistake not including jermain defoe, in our europa league squad registration! My reasons are quite simple. Defoe is always good for a goal even when a sub and for me anyway is without doubt the best finisher we have at rangers 👌Not to mention morelos is currently not firing, itten is still finding his feet and roofe is stop start with his problem calf Injuries. So there lies my reasons! I most definitely would have liked defoe registered for the europa league.

I feel sgl, that he hasn't included him because he won't be able to play twice a week, and SG feels he needs him more in the league than the EL because it's more important to us now that the group stages (money) is guaranteed.

Defoe has been a great player, but unfortunately never for us. He’s well past it and really only a cheerleader now. As harsh as that may sound. He’s scored a few for us but not done anything really of note to change significant games and does not fit into our system at all. If we are chasing a game in Europe and Morelos is playing then I’d far rather see itten or roofe get on. So would Gerrard. Hence the decision.

Yes, I'm with you on this one SGL. I'm guessing If Roofe gets injured again that we can replace him with Defoe?
Unfortunately, Gerrard's hands have been tied a bit with the homegrown players rule when picking the team which has led to this.
Even though Morelos hasn't been scoring, it would still be a risk not playing him in Europe.
Who would you drop for Defoe?

Who would you have left out for Defoe Coop mate? We play one striker and could only name a squad of 21 so would most likely have to have left out Itten, Roofe or Morelos?

I agree that Defoe is undoubtedly the best finisher we have. Maybe it's all part of the masterplan to keep him fresher in our quest for 55. It's a bit of a worry with regards to the 3 strikers getting injuries with morelos the only one staying fit. Fingers crossed Itten and Roofe can produce the goods and stay fit.

I’m happy enough, Defoe is almost done, great career but I agree with the gooner,
He shouldn’t be taking up a Euro place, I actually think I would have been annoyed if he had been included, , Jerry’s days ahead are in low key games in Scotland, and maybe in cup ties.

If you look at all defoes goals for us bar probs aberdeen when coming on as sub then all hos goals are against lesser teams. he's not a starter for me. So no issues with him not being in squad.
