I was just recalling the great Scotland teams of the past when our players plied their trade for Man Utd, Liverpool, Leeds United, etc. Strachan, Dalglish, Souness, McQueen, Jordan, Bremner, Hansen, Hartford. The list goes on. What players we had then. It isn't a bad thing that last night's team had a few players playing in the English Premier League. It doesn't matter how many Rangers players are in the national team. We don't have many home-grown players in our first team. Good to see young Patterson given a run in the under-21 team. Winning the league is the first priority yes as a Rangers fan, but let us support our national team, whoever is playing.

I hear supporters all the time waxing lyrical about the good old days ie when Scotland had players of real talent. but the fact is that during the era of the Baxters, Laws, Hendersons, Johnstones etc Scotland did not qualify for any tournament from 1958 to 1974.
Scotland have qualified in total for 8 World Cups and 2 Euros (before last night) and in all these tournaments have never got out of the initial group stage.
For a nation purporting to have a footballing pedigree that doesn't make scintillating reading does it?

Tell me this doiger, if Lyndon dykes hadn’t opted
To play for Scotland do u think we’d have qualified? Not just last night but his previous games have made
Such a difference to our play.

I think you’re going overboard on your rating of dykes mate, he’s done ok, who knows if another player would have done better, I think the midfield is where the real strength lies, since getting rid of brown it’s flair players who are coming to the fore a bit more, and I’m glad to see Ryan jack play so well, he has flair and strength.

I would like to see a couple of fast Central Defenders for next year.

Ffs you would think Dykes was the 2nd coming of the real Ronaldo he is average at best an am glad he is nowhere near our team.

We’ve been hopeless for a while Tom we’re very strong in midfield that’s a given my point being with how well dykes has done, take him out who plays? A half fit Griffiths, mcburnie? 😂 there really isn’t a lot of options. I do feel he has not so much been the final piece of the jigsaw that’s a long time away but more he’s just what we were lacking. He’s made the difference.

Yip his centre half is our weakness. Big McKenna has pace and is rated but I’ve never really been impressed. Tierney and mctominay have decent pace it’s just about that middle cb and absolutely did not say that about dykes you’d awe read what you’d want I said he made the difference and he has. That’s there to see.

The thing with comparing this squad with the golden era of the likes of Jim Baxter, Denis Law and John Greig - there were only eight places at the Euros back then and if there had been 24 places back then Scotland would have qualified no problem every time.

Correct geronimo, , and I suspect Gallagher will be a January target for them, after they pay up big dhumbos loan deal.

I don’t watch Aberdeen KJ but anytime I’ve heard any commentators or pundits talk bout McKenna the one thing they all say is he has pace and can pick a pass. Heard it regular mate.

Dykes, was a major reason we are in the Euro's next year, he never lost a ball in the air, and showed intelligent use of the ball at feet as well, I don't understand the constant negativity towards this young man. As for McBurnie, now there is a waste of a jersey, he did zilch when he came on the other night, never won a ball.

Irvger whilst I am not a fan of mcburnie he too won plenty in the air and stuck away a very good penalty.

I don’t rate mcnurnie. How he went for £20mill I’ll never know man. Proves the prices in England are immensely inflated. I’d say dykes is a far better player to mcburnie. Awe the best to the boy though he’s what we’ve got to work with and I hope he starts to perform.
