Just wanted to gauge everyone's opinion.

If we do win this, and I'm not counting my chickens. I know there is a long way to go. We have all been through enough this last decade, so I'm being cautious.

But if we do win this, do you think McCoist should be involved in some way?

Obviously not in a way that detracts from the current manager or squad.

I know it ended badly, but when everything went south, he stayed and stuck up for us and laid the foundations for where we are now.

I know people will be split on this but I for one would love to see him thanked for the job he did for us guiding us through the hardest time in our clubs history.

Duncan, he is involved as a major shareholder, supporter and pundit. Don’t believe he will or should return in any formal role at the club.

No not for me. If anything, he actually held us back. He was grossly over paid for doing a job in lower divisions that any half decent manager could have done, not forgetting the fact he went down the old pals act on stupid wages when it would have been better to introduce younger hungry guys along with seasoned pros from the likes of championship/ 1st div to work up from the bottom.
Until Dave king and bears got involved and eventually secured SG as manager, we were going nowhere.

Why would we be split on this? Of course he should be involved, no manager in Rangers history had to endure what he did and a weeker man could have folded but not Ally he laid the foundations of where we are now.

We better winit thers no nearlys this time.

I don't see the relevance of involving McCoist. Its SG and his team who have built this team. McCoist can be involved at board room level back slapping but no way should he be attributed to this teams success. Ridiculous.

6.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 12:28:23
He's already involved the guys a Rangers legend.

Mccoist should always be welcome at ibrox 👍.

I’m not saying he should be given a role at the club, Would absolutely love and appreciate him being involved in the celebrations in some way though.

I also agree that McCoist was paid very well. He also ruined his chance of a career in management to stick by his club. We were being run by con men and crooks and he stuck it out and stood up for the club at every opportunity, I’m also not blind to the fact he made mistakes along the way.

I honestly believe things could have been very different today if we didn’t have McCoist in charge in those early days.

30 Jan 2021 12:40:36
I don’t see why we would invite him along to the 55 celebrations, there is no reason for it.
McCoist is a club legend just not a great manager, I don’t have a problem with what he was paid and was in a very difficult position, if he had laid down the foundations and got in the best 16 and 17 year olds while in bottom division, then he way have left a better legacy.

King the current board manager and players is who we should be talking about imo.

30 Jan 2021 12:53:40
Ally mccoist the rangers goalscoring legend should always be involved with any glasgow rangers celebration.

11.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 12:55:45
I think we should the guy is a legend and he didn’t walk away like others and some that are back with us ie McGregor.

It wasn’t his fault the money he was on sooner ally is and always will be a legend of rangers fc.

12.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 13:04:35
Ally should be always welcome as a legend shareholder and fan. He did so much for the club.
I don’t think he would be interested in a formal position, that ship has sailed.

13.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 13:05:48
He will always be welcome for what he did as a player, one 9f my heroes.
However, knowing about the club financial position and still taking one of, if not, THE highest salary for a manager in Scotland was wrong.
Not signing players at the right level and giving them big contracts and not giving youth a chance was wrong.
Unfortunately I don't think he has anything to do with where we are NOW. But as a former manager I would hope he gets an invite to parade 55 IF and WHEN it comes. Then he can go back to his day job.

30 Jan 2021 13:14:03
Any ex player to have donned the famous Jersey should be welcomed at ibrox any time or to enjoy celebrations.

15.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 13:17:50
Rangers legend or not, what has he done in our quest for 55 in 2020/ 21? Nothing. I love the guy but this "he should be involved" nonsense is ridiculous.

16.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 13:21:53
What mccoist was paid is nothing to do with him those who gave out contracts was the problem. Goalscoring legend who always has our back in the media will always be welcome back at ibrox just not as manager I'm afraid.

17.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 13:22:50
I’d like to see the 45k fans invited to ibrox before any ex player. Some of us pay 1000k plus a season ticket for 19 tv games.

18.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 13:27:11
The guy continues to make or take money from rangers if he wants to celebrate let him should we invite to a55 party yes every one has their
Own thoughts and memories of Maoist.

19.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 13:36:00
Shall we involve Boydy, Smith etc too? 🤔 Jeeso, no Rangers fan disagrees that McCoist was a legend but there's a reality check needed. It's SG, the current players, DOF and our board who deserve all the credit. If anything Dave King should be paraded round Ibrox as a hero with us all applauding him. His contribution is greater imo.

20.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 13:59:10
Aye invite all the fans to Ibrox wearing our Kris Boyd masks or Stevie Gerrard ones for the celebration whilst over at porkheid they will be rioting with their popcorn teeth masks on.

Met Ally on many occasions Rangers through and through and a genuinely really nice guy
I feel bad for him to finally get to manage the club you have loved all your life for it all to go to pot in front of him

always be a Rangers legend in my eyes.

22.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 14:10:45
No. same as folk mentioning likes of wallace miller jig etc etc. Why should they be?

23.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 14:21:38
Gbtq, how long you followed Rangers mate? Do you think YOU should be involved?

What kind of Rangers supporter would say Ally McCoist being involved is “ ridiculous “

You know he’s a legendary figure at our club I’m sure? , and btw, you know as much about Ally’s time at the club during the bad days as I do, nothing,

Do you think Walter should be involved? Because if you do, then you are the one being ridiculous mate because Walter has repeatedly supported Ally and told of how difficult his time there was and how no managers in Rangers history had to work in the circumstances Ally did, , poor manager possibly, Rangers legend definitely, and if you think him being involved is “ ridiculous ‘ then you shouldn’t be involved.

24.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 14:48:49
Jyf

Laid the foundations? Are you drunk? Great striker but utterly woeful manager. Unfortunately only thing he laid out was buying some awful players and being unable to win the Petrofac cup.

25.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 15:08:31
Get halliday to lift the title with tav? 🤣🤣🤣.

26.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 15:11:08
Ally is true blue and rightly a legend at our club. He was a poor manager of our club and his transfer dealings were “unusual”.

27.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 15:15:11
Since 1975 TT and I am entitled to my opinion as are you. I was being sarcastic about Walter. None of them should be. Try reading the post properly.

28.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 15:21:06
biffo, aye laid the foundations. Rangers were crumbling arround him, he galanised a hurting and bewildered support and brought in free transferes that got us out of the bottom division. Drunk? No, not me, the memories are still fresh in my mind, he could easily have walked and resumed his more lucritive carreer in TV but no he, like the loyal (look it up! ) Rangers man he is, stayed in a job that he was always going to be on a hiding to nothing in and took us as far as he could. That my freind makes him more of a legend than any manager in our history!
P. S. He had what it takes when they came calling expecting an easy day and thought they could take the title at Ibrox, well he sent them off home with a flee in their ears saying "NOT ON MY WATCH"

29.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 15:31:55
What about John Grieg, should he be cold shouldered as well since he was a club legend but not such a great manager?

No doubt that McCoist should be invited to any celebrations - not that any will be permitted.

30.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 15:56:07
Club legend as a player but failed to get us out the Championship as a manager!
He can join the queue for the celebrations.

31.) 30 Jan 2021
30 Jan 2021 17:45:55
No you have got that wrong mph Stuart Mccoll never got us out of the championship Mccoist was hounded out when we were second in the table (not good enough) and still in it.
