Gerrard was asked in his presser today "What do you think of Neil Lennon leaving? " His reply was "I'm not surprised given what's going on over there"🤣🤣🤣 Quality! Not like him to have a wee dig like that though.

If that’s what he said, then that’s a very interesting statement mate.

True it is Tom. Look at the clip on Sky Sports.

That’s not quite what he said or all of what he said. He actually said - "I can't say I'm surprised because of obviously what's been going on over there. “ "But I obviously take no personal satisfaction from seeing that news (happen) to Neil or any other fellow manager that happens to. So I wish him well for the future. “.

Correct ger don’t know why someone would only post part of it and not all of it.

Deary deary me🙈 What I posted doesn't alter that he said he isn't surprised given what's going on over there. It doesn't change the context. However, in future I shall endeavour to post word for word. I sadly didn't have the time to transcribe his interview, I was too busy working but thought when I heard it I would post for you all to take a look if you had the time. Also, the fact he went on to say he wishes Lennon well does not make the fact he said he wasn't surprised any less of a dig in my opinion. I now know the journalistic standards expected of me👍.

Actually Mocbear it does change the context. Reading it the way you wrote it makes it look like Gerrard was having quite a dig and looks a bit unprofessional of him. Whereas all he was actually saying is that what’s happened hasn’t really come as a surprise all things considered but that he wishes him well just like he would any manager in his position, which does come across as professional. So deary me maybe next time you should post what was actually said instead of part of it. Especially seeing as that’s the kind of things that papers like the sun and record do and we all moan about them doing so.

Thanks Ger1978! I shall do better in future.

I can't recall ever a manager saying that they were not surprised by another manager losing his job whether its through resignation or sacking. Even when they follow that up with well wishes. I think it is a bit of a dig. I also don't think that dig is unprofessional in any way given what rubbish Lennon has been spouting all season about how they have been hard done by by everyone and their granny.

Again I apologise about my poor journalistic skills.

Daviedouglas1980- I was more than one word out mate. I didn't print the full article🙉 but you are correct that what I wrote was one word out from the first part of his answer which was still in my opinion a little dig at the eastenders. How dare I miss a word🤣.
