Tav has went from being player of the year to some posters wanting him sold so young Patterson can play. To use a phrase that the gaffer uses a lot, Tav has got plenty in the bank with SG. Nathan Paterson will be a star for us but will wait his turn till the gaffer decides he ready.

The situation around Tav and Patterson is a tricky one, made all the more so because Tav is the captain. None the less a good conundrum to have.
I do not want Tav sold and although I am slightly surprised that he is captain, acknowledge that there are many things going on in training, behind the scenes, that we do not see and fully respect SG's judgement. When I think of captains I think more of players in the mold of Greg, Souness, Butcher, Gough, Terry, Tony Adams, Gerrard himself but maybe that is for days gone by?
The dilemma comes in a number of forms, tactical and financial. Some
on here have said that Patterson is better defensively than Tav, a view which I personally share. Does this mean if Patterson is only playing a proportion of the games at right back, he should play those against stiffer opposition, in the Champions League say? Or do we play our better defensive right back against weaker opposition when really we should be concentrating on attack rather than defense. Both seem unlikely especially the notion that you would play the prestige games without your captain.
Then financially! If we were to sell Tav now, Captain of a historic title winning Glasgow Rangers side, with 13 goals and 12+ assists, what sort of fee could we command? £7 million maybe, many would demand more I am sure. In 3 seasons time what would we get?
Then there Nathan Patterson whose contract also runs for a further 3 seasons. If he is Tav's understudy will he struggle to maintain his development, loose out on international opportunity, become disillusioned and ask his agent to find him a route out no doubt for a minimal fee as he is untried, untested and in his own opinion untrusted? Or does he play most of the next 3 seasons, do a Tierney and move on for £25 million.
Financially best case £30 to 35 million in the coffers, worst case maybe £3 to £4 million if Tav plays most of the next 3 seasons and Patterson does a Lewis McCloud or Barry McKay.
And in all of this there is a responsibility to develop Nathan Patterson to be the very best he can be; right back for Rangers and Scotland, Captain of Rangers and Scotland? The likes of Tierney, Trent Alexander, Wambasaca, Luke Shaw were all in the thick of it at 19.
I do not know what the answer is and none of the options seem easy or pain free, I just want the best outcome for the Famous Glasgow Rangers. But I cannot forget where we have just come from, who is going to own us today?, are we going to survive?, is there a future?, will there ever be a 55?
We all owe a massive debt to Dave King and the Three Bears and a few more besides but we do need to find the financial strength to stand on our own two feet, to owe and be beholden to no man. We are a selling club, (as is every if the price is right), so let's do it well whilst respecting all the players that have got us back where we belong.
In Gerrard I Trust.

can't believe the consternation this causes. two payers one position and both can provide flexibility if necessary.
