Guys a few questions for debate:

Does anyone think the European super league is a good idea? I don’t but just curious.

Does this open the door to old firm to EPL?

Is the old firm moving to EPL akin to this ESL?

Old Firm moving to EPL on their own is the exact same as the "big 6" moving to the Super League.
I'd much rather see a British League encompassing all Scottish teams that are interested to compete.
How you find their place / level would be difficult.

I pointed out to a man u supporting mate this afternoon that this is a cash grab but so was the actual formation of the EPL back in 92.

Big difference is the EPL had a route for teams through promotion/ relegation and this is much more closed door and protect the richest teams.

BG I think it's a horrible idea but let them run on can't see it being allowed to happen. I think the new idea for the champions league is horrible too picking teams to take part even if they don't qualify is wrong it's not for the fans. As for us going to the Premier League I think it's slightly different our fans would say yes and I think most of the rest of the league's fans would love us to go. Could end up better for everyone.

I don’t see where uefa are coming from in this one saying it’s a closed shop as that’s what they have been trying do for years with the champs league making harder for the smaller nations to qualify its hypocrisy on their part in my opinion.

If we can get in to epl or British league out of it which I very much doubt then am all for it.

This is the worst thing in football ever and could destroy the club's that have signed up to a ludicrous folly.
If we look at it all I can see is that the fans and the players will decide. Without both it is doomed. I can't see this working. Travel distances are huge, tv prices massive, no pies at Ibrox. WTF.

Ach, I'm getting pig sick of all this money talks football .

What kind of "sport" is it that if you don't have the money you will struggle to win games in the professional leagues.

Sure times have changed but why has it to be all about the money now.

Its truly shocking actually, a money grab like no other in football history,

Rich owners who never should have been allowed to purchase British clubs, to me its akin to billionaire Russian, Arab or Middle Eastern buying up London properties, but they allowed these people to do it, with they're proper person mandate and due diligence now shown to be a nonsense, unfit fir purpose

However I can see the fans of these " top 6" clubs refusing to take anything to do with it, player's will sign fir them because " cash is king" but fans don't need to, then it will crumble like a pack of cards

What will the Liverpool fans be feeling about this ED?

I think all football fans should boycott watching the games or attending, I think all tv co
Pants should refuse to purchase the product
Sponsors would soon get the message and it would fall apart, any club signed up to take part should then be banned from UEFA competitions for 2 years if legally possible. Might just be the start of a turnaround in football as the top players would have to leave these clubs and accept smaller wages at smaller clubs etc.
it’s a disgraceful decision by the “12” and I believe it will fail and they will all look very stupid.

IGWT these owners don’t care about fans attending as they will make that much money from it to be honest.

And people will watch it if it happens IMO.

Who cares that 12 teams have been hoovering money out the game for years creating unbalance throughout football. This could be a catalyst for something good to happen transfer fees and players wages are out of control and it’s football fans that are footing the bill, hopefully this will be a wake up call for football as a hole.

The only reason UEFA are up in arms about this is lose of revenue and prestige. They've been trying to makeit as difficult as possible for smaller nations to qualify for CL for years. The whole thing stinks to high heaven. Fair play to the Liverpool fans for letting THEIR club know exactly what they think.

The owners of the Super League teams have already said they don't care much about the "legacy" fans and are more interested in the "fans of the future" .
These clubs are huge all round the world now and if there is a t. v. market they will always be able to sell the product.

Unfortunately the fans they want are as Roy Keane talked about years ago, the prawn sandwich brigade. The corporate boxes, the lot who can't even be bothered to take their seats for the 2nd half of the game because they've got no interest what's going on on the pitch. That's who the money grabbing b! #%&€ds want. Sick of it.

the product will be massively aim at china and the middle eastern bloc

but they may just have overdoneit and underestimated the real fansc worldwide, and if it dives, what then, do the top 6 crawl back.

Alan Shearer summed it up perfectly on BBC TV this morning, kick these 6 Clubs out of The EPL at this mornings meeting, the other Clubs, just might do that, to hell with these money grabbing pariahs.

Champions league has always been in the pyramid system. Yes it's been made harder to produce better games against better teams. the esl has only got 1 thing in my. protecting the interests of 15 clubs for them to make as much money as possible then that clubs think they can then play in there domestic leagues with there advantage over finances to every other team. if by any chance they can't legally be removed from there domestic leagues then teams should turn up to a game, kick off then walk off the park at every game against them.

What would your thoughts be if Rangers, and Celtic for that matter, were invited to join this breakaway league? Would you be excited about it? We would get gubbed pretty much in every game, but the money would allow us to improve.

Just another though along similar lines, knowing that this Euro Super League has been planned for some time, and possibly that there would be a chance to join or move elsewhere to plug gaps, does the repeated attempt to put colt teams into the Scottish league set up become easier to understand? Is it our way of keeping a presence in the Scottish league set up?

It's become quite clear that this is being driven by 2 clubs who are seriously debt ridden. Real Madrid and Barca.

this is a us style marketing move that without support (grassroots or otherwise) or legitimacy is, like the original american leagues. doomed to failure. even asia will see through this. but it is a pressure move on the current system that magically got altered.

Kja9 I get what your saying mate ie tv money would cover the loss of fans attending or for that matter jp Morgan’s money would cover it, but if the tv company n company’s like Amazon stay strong and refuse to collaborate with the idea then no Morgan would pull the plug as they would have no way of getting there money back. If a company decides to pay the money then fans should boycott watching it or attending. I for one would not watch a single game 100% can honestly say that.
Someone asked if rangers or Celtic joined would we want that? Absolutely 100% no. I wouldn’t attend a game or watch a game again. It’s anti football at its best. Football about being competitive and this would be more of going to see the globetrotters than a football match. Doesn’t interest me whatsoever and I actually think fan power and the pundits n politicians etc condemning it, even sky sports actively condemning it. I think it will crumble within weeks before it even gets any further than it has.
