Wasn't the best game of the tournament though I do love the drama of a penalty shootout.
Heartbreak for the 3 young English players, especially the 2 specifically brought on to take a penalty.

Best team win Italy were up at 71% of ball possession at one point. If England never got that early goal it would've been an easier win. The fact of the matter is England have been on the easier side of the draw twice now and win nothing. They haven't beat a side higher than 10th in the world on the past 2 competitions and will next year.

It is tough to lose a match in a penalty shoot-out but after the first 25 minutes or so, Italy were by far the better team and had almost 70% possession. Thank god 🙏 I can now go about my daily business here in England. I see one of my neighbours took his England flag inside BEFORE the penalties! lol🤣.

I bet both to win on pens at 10/ 1 and got the right outcome with Italy beating them karma is a bitch.

Sterling dived 4 times in that game to try and get pens and not booked once.

Sterling and grealish not stepping up to take a pen shows what type of players they are leaving it to the young boys.
Only feel sorry for saka he didn’t need that pressure on his young shoulders at 19.
The senior English players should hang there heads in Shame.

Why if the 19 year olds have been better in training they have already played a season or 2 at the top level and can Handel pressure anyone can miss a penalty tav has done it often enough for us tho his conversation rate must be pretty high.

I get what you are saying Rfc92, but I don't even think Sancho had touched the ball before he stepped up to take the penalty. That is some situation for a young man to step into - especially considering what was at stake.
None of them ( for all they are doing well at club level ) will have played in a game of that magnitude.

Harry Kane diddnt touch the ball once in the 18 yard line the whole game.
Imagine knowing before a game 2 days holiday for a nation depended on you winning the match then stand back and let inexperienced teenagers take vital penalty kicks.
Sorry but Southgate should have had the more experienced players pen ready.
Disgraceful, but I was happy, ☺.
