I've just been looking at the Xhampions League qualification paths on Uefa. com. if I'm correct which there is every chance I am not, if we lose we need to play a Europa League Play Off Match to qualify for the group stages. If someone in the league path loses ie Celtic then they go straight into the group stages. How does that work? Where's the advantage for being Champions?

Getting the easier route to the champions league is the advantage of winning the league.

I understand that bit sweep. We are already one stage further than any team in the league path. For losers of the current round of fixtures to go straight to europa league group stages and for teams that are already in the next round to have to then face qualifiers for europa league group stages is a bit backwards. It is what it is but whoever dreams these things up at uefa needs to rethink.

U r correct moc, as is sweep, we apparently have easier route and play a round less.

Agree Moc, that is just a bizarre scenario tbh.

We should be beating teams like Malmo anyway.

Incorrect. Celtic have to win there champions league 2nd round tie to be assured of Europa groups football. Rangers have to win our 3rd round tie to be assured of Europa group football.

Sweep, Malmo are no mugs and have the benefit of being fully math fit and up to speed in their league.

I agree that we should be too good for them but early qualifying games before our team has gelled 100% are always good for upsets.

If we lose to Malmo we can't expect to just go straight into the europa league without having win a qualifying game.
