John25 I agree most youths weren't and probably won't be good enough for the 1st team but neither were a lot of the dross we have signed who barely played or never made the squad who took their place. Create an environment where young players believe they at least have a chance and you'll more likely see improvement and the good ones won't jump at 1st chance. Is it not you who tells us about the young 15 yr old we likely to lose like Billy Gilmour?

Can u tell me how rangers sign a 16 year old when Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal Man City rock up and other 25 k a week, with pay rise at 17 when turning pro in England.
Dire mebude signs his contact Man City last week 17 k.
We r not paying some our first team anything like these figures.
The dross we signed as u refer to indicates Wilson and gerrard are very poor at recruitment
Mb the lad Wilson will sign, but would u turn down 25 k a week.

Of course we'd all go for that kind of money. Tho we do sign young players who come for 1st team football and chance to develop so why can't our own. And dross I speak of is not just under Gerrard but the culture of the club going back years that doesn't give youths a chance. Tho yes I do think even Gerrard has signed quite a few waste of squad players Sadiq Ejaria Coulibaly Ojo Flannigan Hastie Stewart Barker Jones etc.

This sums up rangers. if my son had the opportunity to join rangers or a team like hearts or Hamilton I'd suggest hearts or Hamilton. there is absoloutly no point in having a youth set up if we don't give them the chance. yes there's a fine line of sending kids out on loan but I believe we could have a kid on the bench and when the games won put them on the park for last 30 mins.

Then if we don't win league people would be moaning about not buying 1st team players and having too many kids in squad. They only play if they are good enough, simple.

Here we go. point is there are kids that's good enough nowadays. Kennedy makes eufa youth team of the year but still not good enough🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ and players like Barker are lol. look at Paterson for instance. got thrown in at the deep end and smashed it. yes as I say it's a fine line of loans or stay with first team but gers have always had an absoloute shocking stat of taking there kids through. were meant to be on the player trading model nowadays to create revenue. As I say have a promising youngster like Kennedy on the bench and when games are won get him on the park to give him first team experience creating a bigger sell on for rangers and a pathway for youngsters to get into the first team. who would you rather on the bench Barker or Kennedy. enough said I think.

Nailed it Herewego55! If the boys are good enough they will get their chance, and if they're not, they move on.
Also agree with John. We can't, and will not, match what the big EPL clubs will pay our best young talent. We just can't compete! You know how staunch Billy Gilmour is, but even that wasn't enough when Chelsea came calling. Money talks louder than loyalty nowadays.

Obviously not speaking about 1st team players. Talk of only playing if good enough should apply to one's signed too. We have been bringing in too many 3rd or even 4th choice players rather than looking at youth. Warburton signed 50 players obviously most not good enough. Gerrard so far has signed about the same. Surely some of our own could have had at least the impact of Grezda or Nemane or others mentioned above. Look at Bayern, Dortmund and Ajax for decades before. They created a culture of look to promote youth 1st rather than buy poor back ups.

Ps I do think young players will start being given a chance more because of Wilson. His role at other clubs eg Southampton was always to look to promote youth 1st before signing others.

Anderlecht just sold a 21 year old for 17 million. made his debut at 17.

I am hearing that Man City are favourites to sign Wilson, he stays in Ayr and am hearing he is possibly a better player than Gilmour at that age.

David’s that suggests anderlect boy better than anything we have, r u the new coldo rubbishing everyone ideas.

He do I have heard the same, many experts in game believe much better than Gilmour. Least Man City want to structure a deal.

I talk to someone who's grandson is at Rangers and he was raving about Gilmour a few years ago, but he is of the opinion that this lad is better at 15. He said something about playing against Man City for Scotland and scoring a few goals i might have that wrong, but he thinks they are about to get him when 16 on the amount of money they are offering him.

14.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 12:33:03
No John I'm just stating that how will we ever know how good the youth is if they never get given the chance. not hard to understand really is. maybe for some it is tho 😉😉😂.

I wonder how many youth games you watched over the years.
Majority of our boys pre gerrard dreadful, big headed and not least bit committed.
U get 15 year olds staying in hotels all expenses paid and they think they have made it.
I will never forget dalziel saying when McClintock was manager not one off our boys would make 25 games in spfl. Slaughter on here, he was 100% correct.

Let Gilmour go but happy enough to give garbage like Joey Barton 20k a week.

Sweep if we paid a boy 20k on his 16 birthday u would be first to complain.

If this young guy is rated better thn gilmour shouldn't we be trying to tie him down on his 16th bday to a long term contract say 20k a wk with goalscoring add ons. If what i'm hearing of his talent is correct it would not be money wasted as their is no transfer fee involved. Esp when we have many players earning not far off 20k stealing a wage and not near our first team. This young man may be our future star striker for many years n we can get back a reasonable transfer fee 5 yrs dwn the line. Makes sense to me. 👌💙.

20 Jul 2021 15:47:13
Broxi we r not paying a kid that.
More than Barisic, kamara, McGregor, Jack and many others
U pay him that at 16, what u giving him at 20.

20.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 15:50:45
Move him on at 20 get a decent fee 🤔.

21.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 15:52:40
If he is rated better thn gilmour by many why not, makes sense no transfer fee n by what I've read could be scotlands version of wayne Rooney would be silly to let tht slip through our fingers like we did with Gilmour imo 👌💙.

22.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 17:52:59
We start paying kids 20k a week at 16 we will be in deep rubbish again in no time. If he gets 20k how many of our players agents will be knocking on the door demanding a pay rise. 20k will put him in our top bracket of earners before he plays a game.

23.) 20 Jul 2021
20 Jul 2021 19:29:17
Bet u would bite gilmours hand off for 20k a wk now herewego👌💙.

Hes not just any kid, its a kid many rate higher thn gilmour so not your average kid, esp with the clubs looking at him n him being standout against man city, the worlds best are after this youngster so he isn't just a typical youth he is something special. People be happy to buy alegria as i would but what if this guy is better and no transfer fee involved. Could be the best youth to come through system in many years so sometimes u have to pay now rather thn regret later. 👌💙.
