Kai Kennedy was picked for the 2019/ 2020 UEFA team of the year.
What has he done since then to receive a high weekly wage and become a first team squad member?
One Scottish Cup appearance for Rangers in 2019/ 2020 season.
8 appearance for ICT.
10 appearances for Raith Rovers.
Reportedly chose Raith for his next loan as he suffered from homesickness in Inverness.
Gerrard called him out over his 'ego' and being badly advised by his agent.
Mythical interest from Roma, Bayern Munich and Man City?
So why didn't he leave Rangers for one of these glamourous and well paid clubs? But instead signed a new 2 year deal even though the manager called him out?
With the right attitude and hard work young players can progress. Talent alone only gets you so far.
Other players progression from the UEFA team of the year:-
Gvardiol - Sold to Leipzig for £17 million, keeping Barisic out the Croatian National Team.
ONE player from the UEFA 2019/ 2020 team of the year has achieved anything of note.
So does Kennedy deserves to be in the Rangers first team squad?
He hasn't made the Scotland U21 squad!
Compare that to Patterson. Scotland International at 19 years old.
Heir apparent to Tav. Gerrard already looking at different formations to fit both into the side.
There is nothing better than seeing quality youngsters in the first team / squad.
But they have to earn their place on merit.

Kai Kennedy a young lad who impressed at both Inverness and Raith. The next clear step for him would be to make a loan switch to a top flight team.

Whenever i seen him playing in games last season i thought he looked very tidy on the ball but lacks the physical element of the game still (he looks like a kid) .

Definitely a top talent in our ranks though, and that will be seen by those within the club and will have earned him his new deal.

Mph even tho I agree with most the diffrence is Patterson got an opportunity through injury and took his opportunity. kennedy hasn't yet been given an opportunity. that's my grievence It's like Kelly now who's absoloutly smashed the friendlies so far should be given the opportunity also. yes he may not start but once were in control of games then give him his opportunity. kia Kennedy was given a new 2 year deal so gers must see something there to offer him it. I know people are saying this or that about kids not being good enough. was Patterson good enough before injury forced us to play him. no he wasnt. the diffrence tho is he got an opportunity to play. really don't see the point in having a youth set up if were never going to give any1 a pathway to the first team.

Davie Kennedy was given a deal to make us money. No where near the standard to merit games in first team.

Patterson was already in the first team squad before he got his chance through an injury to Tav.
Gerrard also regularly sang Patterson's praises about his attitude and dedication.
Patterson is also 6ft tall - decent physique when playing against 'men'.
Patterson also grabbed his chance when it was given to him.
Kennedy has had numerous run ins regarding attitude.
Kennedy will be assessed constantly when on loan or training at Ibrox to see how he's progressing.
He's obviously not showing enough to be considered for a position in the first squad.
He's also only 5ft 4ins and of a slight build. He would get destroyed in the SPFL.
Fingers crossed he makes it as I've said previously we all love to see homegrown talent in the first team.

At end of day it is about the boys physically strength. How he reacts to a physical challenge.
Willie Henderson many will remember was 5 ft 4 and done very well.

John you also say Kennedy was given a deal to make us money then surely the 600k on offer for a youth player that's never played for the first team. if I'm not mistaken regardless of add ons then he would be the best youth player sold by gers to date for an upfront fee? . Why did we not sell him then and take the money.

Ffs imagine comparing messi and Kennedy what are you drinking or smoking as I want some of that.

Davie I would take money, we sold mebude for 600k last year,
However, it’s also about add ons apparently we r over 2 million so far for Gilmour

Davie I honestly want him to stay, but too many stories re attitude, I think we are trying to create a bidding war, french team and Norwich also reported to have bid same.

Gilmour is head and shoulders above Kennedy as a football player.
