I quite like the format they are using in the league cup. If the game finishes a draw then it's just straight into penalties no extra time. With the away goal rule now not in use then I think that this way of deciding a tie would be pretty good for the European games as there's going to be lots of extra time now.

For sure! At this stage I can’t see how the no away goal rule helps the game. There will be tons of extra time played which I just can’t see being any good for players.

Agreed, this should be the standard, there's increased risk of injury when playing 120 minutes.

They have been doing this in league cup for a few years at this stage now.
