We don’t have the finances to keep this kid unfortunately, teams all across Europe will fling silly cash at him. Our only hope is to guarantee him immediate first team football.

That was a nice touch from our b team leaving a card in the EastStirling dressing room thanking them for their hospitality.

Think it was actually in a 4-1 win over Patrick Thistle, but yeah, his second treble in his last two games, seems he could become some player if his development continues the way it is right now. If we can’t hold on to him then hopefully we can still work out a deal similar to the Gilmour one with lots of add ones for achieving specific targets and still make a decent amount from him. We are always going to struggle to hold on to the real top talents with the amount of money English teams can throw at them so we have to at least be clever with type of deals we make. That way we still manage to make a success out of out youth development programme even if they never end up in the first team.

I agree that it's unlikely we will be able to hold on to this kid, as money (lots and lots of it) will lure him away. However, thinking way back to the mid 90s, we had a wee lad called Alex 'Chaffie' Notman playing for us at under 15/ 16. Diminutive, explosive, pacy and strong, he scored about 70-80 goals each season for us.
Sadly, he signed for Manchester Utd when he was 16, but never made it there. He went on to play 50-odd games for Norwich, scoring one single goal. By the time he was 23, injury forced him out of the professional game. Such are the triumphs and tragedies of football, some get lucky, some don't, and while I wish young Wilson every possible success (hopefully with us), he has a long and hard road to travel.

Agree tav son. Look at the lad Dallas 55 goals in a seat could not get a game at Morton. Now struggling at Cambridge.

That was my point John it’s almost impossible to keep him. What else can our club do? We can’t match the big offers from prem league.

When he turns 16 the boy will have a decision to make. Assuming both he and the club maintain their their current pace of development I’d be confident he will sign a professional contract at Ibrox. At 16 it’s not all about money as many have gone on to find out and regret. I wish the boy well and will keep an eye on his development.

The boy Wilson is from Ayr, and i have already said that he is special and Man City are waiting till he can sign a professional contract and offer him the same amount as some Rangers first team players. Hopefully Gerrard can persuade him to sign, but i think he is away due to the salary being offered.

27 Jul 2021 00:27:10
If we pay him 5-10K a week we have to play him in first team. I’ve said before SG compares his development to that of Rooney. Do we pay a 16yr old 15-20k a week and start him in our first team or have a Man City pay him 20k a week and gamble on his development to a loan club. Teams in Europe will pay the top end salary and loan him out for first team games, again we can’t even sell the lad and loan him back as we won’t risk going with a kid aw our number 9.

Scotty I get where u r coming from. What if he signs a deal for 3-4 years and does not progress, although I think that is unlikely.
What do first team squad players think ie
Edmundson 4.5k
Simpson 5.k
Helander 9k
Jack 12k
Bassey 5k
Kamara 8k
McGregor 13k
Mb way forward if we get him to sign is a deal like mebude had, 2.5 k. Then add appearance money, money goals scored, review annually.
I’m told the lad really wants to stay at Rangers but be part of first team squad.
Technically we can’t sell him till he signs a pro deal at 16, free to leave anytime as an amateur, that’s why if he goes clubs like Man City and Chelsea r good options as the r prepared to do financial deals, unlike Bayern when the signed Celtic boy.
