What a difference 4 days make.
Especially for the doom, gloom and naysayer merchants. Some were going to be hiding behind sofas, others watching through the cracks of their fingers.
Up against our Old Firm rivals who were supposedly going to batter us into submission.
This mythical free flowing Ange side, who is already making excuses that he picked the wrong team. That's what happens when you don't give the Champions the respect they deserve.
And yet all it took was a Championship winning side to stand up and be counted. To reach a level of performance we know they capable of.
Especially after the preparation for the game was hampered by CV, injuries and a long Europa League trip. Not excuses. But facts that have to be overcome.
But at Rangers we have a squad capable of filling these voids.
It's sometimes easy to be critical of the squad / management on a game by game basis.
Sometimes harder to bite our tongues, take a step back and let the team prove us wrong.
A rookie goalkeeper who didn't look out of place.
A stand-in RB who played out his skin.
A 36 year old playing his 2nd full 90 minutes in 4 days and still driving the team on like a young man half his age.
And the fans favourite up front who should reportedly already be resting up until after the International Break but playing through the pain barrier to easily produce his best game of the season.
Throw in Barisic back to near his best ( and looking as if he was playing on emotion due to the speculation ) , the ever reliable Kamara who was magnificent second half and Morelos who is well just Morelos in these types of games where the CH's don't get a minutes peace and his link up play at times was brilliant.
And the others who did their jobs. Goldson, Helander ( who said the noise after his goal will live with him forever ) , Aribo ( the technical ability to get himself out of tight spaces never fails to astound me ) and the gifted Roofe.
The fans were also magnificent giving the team their full backing for 90 minutes.
As the banner said:-
Rangers - A Way of Life
It most certainly is.

I said a few times on here that Rangers are the benchmark, not them. The way some on here reacted to them beating a poor, newly promoted team, and a team down to 10 men was embarrassing. The arse fell out some on here's trousers faster than a tim manager making an excuse for another Derby skelping.
Yesterday was amazing, but thank goodness there were no fans in the stadium again or things could have been different. Thank God for lockdown.
Now, I'm away back to bed as I'm like a burst couch. Anybody got any paracetamol?

Totally agree MPH. Put a post up at the start of last week saying the fans need to get behind the team to spur them on in difficult times, rather than get on their backs. Well yesterday the fans were sensational, it wasnt our best performance in terms of skill and good attacking play, but the effort and drive was superb and i think the crowd helped with that.

Tough week for the players, to qualify for Europa groups and grind out an Old Firm win under a bit of outside pressure was a superb effort. Hopefully use the International break now to regroup and get a well needed rest then kick on through Sept.

Boyd’y summed it up on perfectly on Sky. He said Rangers were supposedly the team in crisis yet it’s Celtic who have lost 2out of 4 league games, perhaps it’s them who are in crisis…. big Hartson had no answer to that……funny how Angeball not mentioned on Sutton and Jackson columns today? …….

The naysayers have all gone to ground except DS who is big enough to admit he was wrong.

Sack SG, Balogun and empty shirt, Goldson hopeless was just a few of the comments from our "super supporters" who know best.

Keep the faith, we will have the league this season whilst Celtic rebuild - our challenge is to keep improving to ensure next season is ours.

I watched Goldston closely yesterday, played very well.
Constantly talking to Balogun always there to provide cover. Especially in second half talked loads to mccrorie, every time ball went out you could see him provide advise and encourage the lad.

Also imo do not underestimate the role lundstrum performed last fifteen. He supported back four and helped protect Balogun when his legs had gone.

Couldn't agree more regarding Lundstram yesterday John25.
Had to a role to perform when he came on and did it alright.

John I seen that as well, Goldson was a proper leader yesterday and was over having words with Balogun a few times and encouraging him. He was also over covering for him on a few occasions. Do you think Tav being captain stops Goldson from being more vocal and organising the defence?

Alloa no I don’t. Goldston seems to just get on with it. A bit ruthless. Tav wants to be liked.

Did u note Mccrorie given both helander and aribo peters.

MacAllister said in post match interview that McCrories loan at Livi has done him the world of good. He's more vocal after that experience.

Also never heard one person saying sack gerrard. People were rightly worried about form, and I don't think yesterday changes that much, as we all know form goes out the window old firm day. Time to kick on then you can say people were wrong. No point winning yesterday then going dropping points nextvtinecout, need to keep the foot on there throat and motor away.
