Defoe is on the panel for sky sports covering the spurs game then Liverpool game, he's still registered as our player, and also is a coach. Strange he's not there on a match day. I wonder if he's off in Jan free up a wage. Never known a coach to be at another teams game when you have a match on. 🤔.

Paul, my understanding is his wage is now only 10 k, that is player coach role.
I was also told and wrote he wished to stand down as a player and take a further pay cut.
However he was persuaded to remain as a registered player due to concerns re C.V.

defoe is player coach but certainly not making much of an impact with our attackers. So collecting a wage for what if he also is not playing?

SGL john mentioned it the other week he heard Defoe was going to be next manager after SG along with KT and McCann.

Sorry but Defoe as next manager? ……. not for me. Who knows how he gets on in a few years or so, I struggle to see JD as a top manager. I’m glad Rangers are the team who gave him a title. Great player.
