Anyone any knowledge of the Chinese market or potential players? With that being Gios last job and his favoured assistants current job just wondered if its a
somewhere we could tap into. Possibly cheaper than the Dutch too. And possible source of brand income. They made a ton because of Nakamura.

Wasn't Nakamura Japanese?
And Gio's side finished 11th so we don't really want any of that team!

A lot of money in Chinese football is there not? So doubt we will be getting anyone cheap.

Think you’re getting mixed up with the j league mate, but there’s plenty cash spent in China, not many stars I can think of though, none in fact, Japan korea yes.

Sorry I know Nak was from Japan, just meant as example of tapping into Asian market.

Oh right, Kaisercaillaud.
I'm sure I once read that Celtic hardly made any money from the Far East with the Nakamura signing. Or it was negligent in the grand scheme of things.

Just because they came 11th doesn't mean he didn't come across any talent while over there. Anyways was just putting it out there.

It was all a myth about how much revenue they brought/ could have brought in when they signed him. The supposed revenue streams never materialized, and If any money was to be made, it would be through transfer fees only.
The issue with bringing in someone big named player out there is that supporters aren't all of a sudden going to stop supporting their own team from that country. Or more likely change from supporting a team like Liverpool, Man U, Barcelona (all have massive support in the East) etc to support Rangers or Celtic. Never going to happen.

{Ed001's Note - you would be surprised. It does depend on the player. Try walking through anywhere there are a lot of Egyptians in a Liverpool shirt, they will surround you and want to just talk about Salah. I have yet to meet an Egyptian (including ones that are Man Utd fans normally) that don't support Salah over any team allegiance. They also have so many pictures of him on their phones, their lockscreens, wallpaper, all Salah.

As a rule though, it is more that it brings in youngsters who have not picked a team until they follow it because of a certain player, and then they tend to stick with the team you are correct.}

To be fair, Ed mate, I have pictures of Salah on my wall, phone, Lambretta, arms, legs, back and many more places. 🤣🤣.

{Ed001's Note - understandable, that six-pack is very appealing, it is almost as good as mine! ;-)

But not as good as my keg mate. 🤣.

{Ed001's Note - now I am imagining a Jan Molby-like physique. He has to be the only player who lost weight after retiring from playing!}

Look at the number of Zambia shirts that sold out because of sakala. And how many Holland shirts will be sold. But not just about money. Just new source of talent. Like them across the city are doing with Japan.

He was some player for the size of him Ed.
I remember Gazza when he played for us being well overweight, but he could still dance round a defense like Rudolf Nureyev.

{Ed001's Note - they both could float about like butterflies at times, despite being built like beer barrels. Though I remember Gazza coming out for pre-season training at Middlesbrough one year, we had gone to watch as my parents lived just down the road from the training ground. We were all sat there wondering if Jimmy 5-Bellies had decided to go training with them. As they got closer we suddenly realised it was Gazza and he had really piled on the beef over the summer. Bryan Robson was so upset about it. When they went on a training run, I was trying to run alongside him so me ma could take a pic like and I had to keep slowing down as he couldn't keep up! I ended up doing that Peter Kay dad run so I could get the pic.}

Sam larsson plays in Chinese league, he also played under gio at feyenoord. Left/ right winger 12months left on contract, valued at 3.5m, I would imagine if he's any good gio would be interested, however can't see us signing anyone from that leauge they will be on stupid money. Guys like Oscar, hulk, arnatovic, could all be playing somewhere else but they like cash more than footy.

How many Zambian shirts are we talking about here?

I remember during his time at Middlesbrough he was massive.
Brilliant Ed. My wife says I'm going to turn into uncle knob ed the older I get. I've got that run down to a tee too mate. 🤣🤣.

{Ed001's Note - turn into? She must be being polite.}

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Too true, Ed. Cheeky bastidge. 🤣🤣🤣.

{Ed001's Note - just saying. As she is too polite to do so, someone has to!}

Always looking out for us, Ed! They do say honesty is the best policy. 🤣.

{Ed001's Note - I am good like that mate.}

It was Classic Football Tops, Kaiser.
And they sold out of over 400+ Zambia tops from 2017/ 2018 season.
£10 each, Orange in colour.
But the club will not see any of that money.
