I'm surprised that he hasn't been able to convince SG that he can play a part this season, but somehow Halliday has managed it. Good luck to him.

Not sure you can compare Docherty to Halliday. Docherty needs regular first team football to continue his development, halliday is a seasoned pro who can fill in when injuries dictate, and also play several positions.

Halliday doesn't half get some stick from the supporters, and it's completely unjust. He's a good squad player who can come in and do a job in a few positions. He's got a great attitude and isn't afraid of a tackle. He also loves the club. SG clearly has this opinion also so wouldn't it be great if people got off his case and backed him when he plays.
As for Docherty, yeah he's got far more talent and potential than Halliday. That's why he's being allowed to go on loan and carry on learning by playing first team football. Two players at different stages in their careers with different things to offer. Good luck to both.

What's the big picture halliday might love the club and can in theory play a number of positions but he isn't good enough in any of the positions and the sooner he leaves the quicker we can move on to a better quality team.

Just because you love the club and like a tackle doesn’t mean you should be playing for rangers. Halliday’s second touch usually is a tackle! He gets stick because he simply isn’t good enough. I’d much rather have a younger player coming through than Halliday who hasn’t shown anything since being in the top flight that suggests he's cut out for it.

Halliday is happy to be a bit part player and sit on the bench mostly to be a squad player- Docherty isn’t, he wants to play and develop that’s the difference! These two players can’t be compared.

I’m not so sure Stevie does rate Halliday tbh basically Wallace and Johns have been injured all season and he uses Halliday as a back up left back.
The fact he is a Bluenose won’t do him any harm either as Stevie G knows the value of having that type of influence in the changing room so it is win win keeping him at this stage. Personally I think he will go to Livingston or Dundee sort of level on loan or kept as back up at v best now Johns is returning to fitness to challenge our new signing Barisic for LB role.
I’m not surprised Docherty was allowed to go and develop further especially if we allowed Holt to go who is more consistent.

Jboy21, I never said Docherty wouldn’t be a better player for the loan- I’m hoping majorly that he is! My point is just that- we need to let Doc go on loan because he won’t get the game time he needs with us, he’s young, enthusiasticac and wants to play every game- SG can’t keep him happy sitting on a bench as a squad player! Halliday on the other hand has been for a few seasons now a squad player happy to play a bit part- this is the reason the 2 players can’t be compared! Doc wants to progress and Halliday is content being part of the squad.

As much as it's imperative we bring in a few new faces, Murty would do well to hold on to both Tav and Wes in this transfer window. The Championship vultures are circling.
Windass i'd be happy to part with as well as Alves, Pena and Herrera

Need to keep Tav. If Russell Martin coming put him at right back and Tav right mid field. Windass is not rangers material. Kenny Maclean into left midfield. Get rid of Windass -he is too light weight for us. Would take Naismith to partner and support Moreles up front. Mexicans should be sold not suited to Scottish Football.

I've not been sure of Bates up to now tbh, however I thought he was magnificent today. Very, very impressed with the lad. Apparently he is a great trainer and a really good guy. Also? How good were Tav and Candeias down their left? Tierney must have thought the final whistle was like sweet music as our guys constantly ripped him a new one. Not convinced by his reputation or his valuation. He can be got at as shown today and in the CL. Then again everybody knows this - reference bids submitted. Wonder if big Mutton thinks he is still the best left back in Britain? Lol 😂😂😂

Lafferty or Morelos being discussed a lot if he comes, but on Saturday Laff actually occupied the space currently being filled by Ejaria in a blue jersey. I can’t see why he couldn’t fill that spot for us in a number of games this year? He’s got more to offer than the young Liverpool loanee.

This one is an interesting one. Tav is not only our captain, but he’s started the season in rich form and been at the centre of most of our goals in pre season and Euro qualifiers. Still defensive frailties and looks to me like Gerard favours players that can defend first in his back 4. With hodson away, Wallace awol I would be concerned about strength of bench for cover in full back and centre half cover should we cash in. North of £6m would seem like good business and the Windass one for £2.5 would offset the current cost of the fees for players we have brought in, so I would hope we would still be looking to bring in a versatile quality left sided centre back and also a quality centre forward as replacements. This is where the EPL transfer window closure will create opportunity for us.
