Guys I’m hearing that Ramsey would be happy to stay on a pay as you play kinda contract but it seems a bit far fetched and wondering John25 have you heard anything in the grapevine of similar? Source is someone who has ties to the club and says the guy was absolutely destroyed by the UEFA result ( he’s not the only one tbf ) and wants a bit of redemption. I’m on the fence by the statement from him and I also don’t think the club would entertain.

1.) 27 May 2022 21:40:18
I don't think Rangers do those deals has there been one done before?

2.) 27 May 2022 22:18:25
No thank you. Rangers have been more than helpful with his on going injuries. He has offered nothing in return.

3.) 28 May 2022 00:02:27
Take him every day of the week, still a quality player there who has a lot of experience and would be great about the club for our young players. Think he would be brilliant for young Lowry especially.

4.) 28 May 2022 00:45:35
Ramsey, I really wanted it to work but it just hasn't panned out. He has undoubted talent and experience but for me didn't do enough to prove he is worthy of playing for us. He's too unreliable in terms of injuries. I think he's a good player but for me, money best spent elsewhere.

5.) 28 May 2022 06:00:45
It was in the paper about that deal. still. No thanks. 2 decent games v dundee doesn't get you a deal.

6.) 28 May 2022 06:46:19
Didn’t work out it time to move on.

7.) 28 May 2022 06:54:27
Maybe one of the Eds can explain the pay as you play deals? I'm assuming the players have to get paid legally - so they just get a lower base wage and then a hefty bonus for making an appearance? I'm sure I read previously that a long of contracts are incentive based. so probably not all that different. In fact, did Frank De Boer not do something similar?

Maybe with a preseason behind him and a sensible workload plan, he could stay fit and really add value.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, they can't legally be truly pay as you play, but just a much lowered basic salary with a massive appearance bonus.}

8.) 28 May 2022 06:58:43
Talent not in question regarding Aaron Ramsey, his injuries are .

9.) 28 May 2022 07:24:26
Wrote this four weeks ago. Shot down.
Would take him in a minute.

10.) 28 May 2022 08:14:58
Thanks Ed! Much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

11.) 28 May 2022 08:55:06
Ramsey is to much of a risk to the squad / rangers
Already? Marks over :
Souttar
Big Phil
Roof
Hagi - (potentially hope he’s ok )
Jack
Borna

Adding Ramsey is mismanagement imo you could have half the team out on the treatment table by Nov .

12.) 28 may 2022 11:13:07
i said same thing, be crazy not to take a player of that quality on a very low risk deal, absolutely a no brainier imo.

13.) 28 May 2022 11:26:17
So would I John. In a heartbeat.

14.) 28 May 2022 11:36:37
Well worth a punt on a low basic wage. If he recaptured his match fitness, he would be amazing. Even without it, as mentioned by AC21, he'd be a superb influence on our youngsters.

15.) 28 May 2022 11:38:57
I think we should move on as Ramsey is injury prone and a large financial outlay for the club.
Lowry is certainly more than capable of playing in the first team on a regular basis.

16.) 28 May 2022 12:56:20
I also would take Ramsey on a pay as u play, if Scotland beat the Ukrainian’s let’s see how he plays against us for Wales.

17.) 28 May 2022 13:11:53
If we can get him risk free financially then it’s not a tough decision! Yes please.

18.) 28 May 2022 16:27:28
Belblue Flanagan 5k basic 5k if in match squad.

23 Oct 2021 19:59:58
John25 I’m hearing from a family member down in London that Jake Cooper is close to agreeing terms! Do you think there is anything in this that’s concrete my friend as I know this was one you mentioned?

Blackwoodbear

1.) 23 Oct 2021 21:16:10
Jake Cooper has been on the cards for a wee while, what's your opinion on him and how much would he cost?

2.) 23 Oct 2021 21:38:21
I’m told very realistic option, especially as deal for Harry Souter looks beyond us.

3.) 24 Oct 2021 07:17:34
As a small matter of interest John25🤔If rangers had the chance/ choice to sign either jake cooper or harry souttar, which one would you prefer we signed mate🤔.

4.) 24 Oct 2021 07:32:28
Souter. But now valued at 15 million so not happening.
Although the two of them and doehki would be some back 3.

5.) 24 Oct 2021 07:57:22
Only my opinion John25 and watched jake cooper and harry souttar and absolutely nothing between them going on what i've seen of both centre hslfs mate🤔.

6.) 24 Oct 2021 08:09:11
I honestly don't think gerrard would sign both jake cooper and harry souttar even if he could anyway🤔
Both similar styled centre halfs from what i've seen like the style of big helander who's superb in my eyes👌Cooper is a leftie right enough, same as helander and as we know left footed centre halfs, are much harder to come by🤔The reason i think gerrard wouldn't sign both even if he could, is because gerrard likes the foil of a rugged, no nonsense, old fashioned centre half,
beside a ball playing football centre half🤔.

7.) 24 Oct 2021 08:32:56
Souttar over Cooper aw day long but he is well
Out of our price range now unfortunately.

8.) 24 Oct 2021 09:38:59
SGL in a back three doehki always plays right
Souter in the middle and Cooper on the left.

9.) 24 Oct 2021 11:28:49
Big Cooper can play as well, scores a right few goals as well.

10.) 25 Oct 2021 17:37:09
If we sign any of the names mentioned I hope it’s Doehki. Looks a player and one we can sell on for a profit.

11.) 25 Oct 2021 18:50:06
SGL, 17 million between them, Souter now getting quoted at 20 million and Cooper 3 million.

I don’t have Facebook but got a call on the road back from the game from a mate who said Defoe has been in a car accident can anyone confirm?

25 Jul 2016 21:41:15
Well tonight's game Barton strolled through it no end, Kranc just looks like he floats on air but my main positive is how good Rossiter looked in the 30mins he got! He put a tackle in and I know the opposition wasn't the best but he showed great urgency and he knows how to play a pass and also the most important thing he plays the right pass! Can't wait to see this lad get a full 90mins I think this boy is a steal at £250k.

Blackwoodbear

1.) 25 Jul 2016 21:51:31
Wilson/ Keirnan looked as comfortable as ever with Barton in front.

Our Joey strolled it tonight. He'll stroll most games up here but his quality is there for everyone to see.

Can't wait for Hamilton.

2.) 25 Jul 2016 22:01:57
Guys really think we need to get a grip on reality. We had over 20 shots on goal and only scored 3, 1 of them a penalty. Barton was not impressive for me, he plays more sideways passes than Barry Ferguson did, . McKay? Why does he put the brakes on when he goes past even poor defenders. For me a lot of huffing and puffing to no great effect against a very poor team member
Let's hope it gets better soon?

3.) 25 Jul 2016 22:47:12
I don't want a grip on whatever reality your on bil72! The guys above are right Barton added a lot of protection to the cb's which was previously missing, rossiter likewise! Mckay wasn't as good as previous couple of games but forester more than made up for that with his energetic clever play, tavs delivery into the box was also very good.

A lot of positives to be taken even if it was against weaker opposition! We still have to go out and break these teams down.

4.) 25 Jul 2016 22:53:27

Can only beat what's in front of you! Barton and kranjkaer didn't need to come out first gear and still strolled it. I thought Barton was mom to be honest, hate guys like you, no matter what happens you'll never be happy.

5.) 25 Jul 2016 22:57:51
Bloody hell! I thought the team played well tonight and hardly had to get out of first gear. Remember most of these guys are finding their feet. As the old saying goes - you can please some of the people etc etc. But yes the lad Rossiter looks a steal. We are looking good, dare I say it!

6.) 25 Jul 2016 23:03:37
I thought Barry McKay bossed the whole game till he was taken of Fun!

7.) 25 Jul 2016 23:33:57
I was at game and thought Barton was a bit off the pace too, Mckay is great to watch and hope he goes from strenth to strenth. Stranraer are very average and the test will be when the league starts, lots of chances and ahould have had more goals but that'll come as game go on. Barton will be better as games go on too but all in all decent win! Moan the gers.

8.) 25 Jul 2016 23:46:29
Jordan Rossiter is going to be some player - I did mention him a few days ago and tinight he showed a maturity beyond his years - You can see the style of Gerrard in his play and movement - Superb signing -.

9.) 26 Jul 2016 00:47:58
Pierre, you must not have been at same game I was as Barton strolled it! In first gear I may add. Broke up play when needed, kept it simple but moving, won his tackles etc he was our best player with kranjkaer I thought, but ofcourse entitled to opinions.

10.) 26 Jul 2016 01:13:13
Didn't think Barton looked match fit and a few loose passes but his class is obvious. Thought mckay was superb. Niko oozes class too. Rossiter just slotted in to Bartons position like a glove.

11.) 26 Jul 2016 05:31:56
At the game last night and thought joey barton's passing range was very good, can't agree with a couple of the above posters that didn't think barton was good last night, although still not 100% match fit he oozed class and cruised the game and our defence looked a helluva lot tighter with his presence, kranjcar looked good in phases although a wee bit to go in fitness also, barrie mckay superb, but I've always been raving about him and I'm a big fan of his.

12.) 26 Jul 2016 08:08:50
People still need to remember that this is still really pre season. A silly competition format that has stopped us playing harder competition. The team has only conceded 1 goal. And I think in total there has been 10 shots in at our goal so it says that something has improved. Keep calm bears.

13.) 26 Jul 2016 11:11:12
Thorn76, i also thought wilson had a good game, he seems good when he has experienced players round about him, but he needs to stand on hiis own two feet, as he won't always have such comfort blankets around him, imo, he is old enough to play a good game, that's why he is vunrable.

14.) 26 Jul 2016 12:55:32
got to say for me McKay should have got man of the match but niko a close second the guys class oozed out over the pitch!

for me to say barton covered our defence well is a joke as we didn't have any defending to do.

rossiter for me would have been man of the match if he had played 90 boy reminds me of a young barry ferguson which despite what bil72 (the pessimist) says barry was a great player for rangers and if rossiter has a rangers carrer like him i'd be over the moon.

15.) 26 Jul 2016 15:49:29
Thought Barton looked overweight last night though still fit enough to stroll through a game like that. Rossiter reminds me more of Roy Keane than Stevie G. Kranjcar when fully fit will be the best of all the new boys. Think the League Cup has been good for us, for the fact that instead of meaningless friendlies, these small clubs have been competitive without ever threatening us. Its let us get our match fitness up to speed.

I’m flicking through some reports and comments from so called journalists online and all I’m reading is “ What Rangers defeat means for the coefficient “ very little spoken around Hibs, Aberdeen and Hearts going out and Celtic in Champions League. Do they forget for the past few years it’s been Rangers building the coefficient solely as these clubs mentioned and others have failed in Europe?

Blackwoodbear

1.) 15 Mar 2024 18:06:38
Rangers = 63 coefficient points
Rest of Scottish Football = 63.5 coefficient points.
Levels?⚪️?.

2.) 15 Mar 2024 20:32:39
Cole McKinnon’s 13 mins of knockout European football in Lisbon is 13 mins more than the rest of Scottish Football since 2008.

I’ve only been at odd game due to health in the past year but my season book has been renewed for 38 years and I may be ruffling a few but Lunny takes stick and sometimes rightly so but for me he’s been solid this season. Maybe his ball play isn’t there or so some would say but he’s more vocal than our captain and vice captain. He’s constantly screaming at people into position and also available to receive the ball but the lack of movement is killing us. Tonight at the game we’ve lacked mental toughness same at Aberdeen. PC has changed a lot but in spells in both games we’ve reverted back to the Beale era and play the ball around back four far to much. Sometimes route one ain’t that bad, sometimes missing out the centre mid ain’t that bad, maybe sometimes we need to look at the opposite defence and see they’re no that great and don’t deal with a ball right into them. It shows tonight injuries and suspensions (I’m not using this as an excuse as we’ve the highest wage bill in scotland apparently) does count and if previous regimes spent wisely our bench might just be stronger. Sorry for the long rant but I’m inbetween whither I’m happy so far or not ??‍♂️.

Blackwoodbear

1.) 01 Dec 2023 02:01:25
Agree blackwoodbear lunny was vocal where I was sitting you could hear him screaming at players put in a cracking shift tonight I've been guilty of being on his back but under PC I think he's been solid.

08 Oct 2023 14:35:47
SWS why have a pop at the lad for “ YESTERDAYS NEWS” as it may be new news to him? Sometimes you come across as if you’re speaking down to people but then Chuck toys out the pram when anyone directs anything at you. Sometimes some people don’t have the time to look through the site to see what’s been mentioned before!

Blackwoodbear

1.) 08 Oct 2023 14:43:23
He has always been like that, he will never change problem is he hates it when it happens to him but forgets he does to others but that’s allowed.

2.) 08 Oct 2023 15:26:30
Aye and then takes a 10 minute sebatical from posting.

3.) 08 Oct 2023 16:38:51

Blue I agree. If we get Shankland for around £2mill and there isn’t a need for a sell on value because if we go on to win the league sell on won’t matter. Look at players we’ve gave contracts to recently (albeit previous regime) do they have a sell on value? I would definitely try get Butland on a better deal and I think I may get pelters from some but Lunny needs nailed down as I think he’s more vocal on field and off field than our captain and vice captain. The guy puts his heart into every game and even though he’s not the flashy player people want him to be he puts the yards in and always drives the team.

Out the few mentioned above it’s Clement or Jenson for me! As much as Lampard has done tbf especially his last stint at a self combustible Chelsea he ain’t covered himself in glory. Left field and it doesn’t mean I want him as manager Rooney! Few within club had whispers of his name but nothing solid. Just passing on so don’t get the firing line out just yet.

For me to be a “ Rangers great” you need to live and breathe the institution and as much as I loved Alfie throughout his stay ( and probably hated him sometimes ) I think great is banded about far to many times now! When I hear great I think of 70’s 80’s 90’s and look at true legends of our club! I truly think Alfie did well for our club but to class as a great I’m sure I’ve a few others to mention beforehand and also other members of the site would have their own!

I remember watching Davie Cooper in awe from the stands whether that be in a Bears top or a Scotland top. Also when I worked in Hamilton the guy walked past you every day heading down to the bookies and would say hello to people when spoken to and also saying hello to people who he seen about every day.

I remember the first time he greeted me in town centre and the ar5e nearly fell out me he’s one of the only footballers I’ve been star struck when meeting them. He was a gent in football also away from football and not only a Rangers great but a football great. Parlane I remember when Ruud said he’s one of the greatest footballers that’s graced the game.

MPH driving home from the game last night I was like you and was disappointed. By the time I got home that had turned to pride as I believe once again we gave our all. Special note to fellow bears who have attended this amazing run again home or away you make Thursday nights special. Atmosphere second to none and last night I hoped once the final whistle went we would stand and recognise how much we’ve gone forward under PC (remember this team have a player being touted he’s going to Bayern in the summer for anything between £100m to £150m if reports are to be believed) . Whatever we achieve this season from where we were before PC took over will be a bonus.
