Absolutely loving our setup this year. I worry less about Tav tracking back with 2 capable DMs there to cover him. Although his defensive duties will always be the first thing he’s judged on, I think having that extra cover allows him to do what he does best.

Tav has got to have a stellar season or we don’t win the league. Let’s face it, he’ll never be dropped even if his performances dip.

He’s our Captain until at least end of Season regardless of what happens. I’m sure we’re all backing him 100%.

1.) 13 Sep 2020 16:59:10
So, let me get this straight.

Every player performs at 100% except Tav who is only at 90% = we don't win the league?

In other words, were all fully behind him until he makes a mistake!

2.) 13 Sep 2020 18:47:03
so, on here we are all asked or asking about box to box midfield player and have not nailed that player down now that WILL improve the team/ squad that SG wants.

just a thought, what about taking TAV out the back line and use him like we did with Ricksen box to box, and find or use a new full back.

second point today is we are quick to say 'legs have gone' about Steve Davis, MOTM yesterday, still has something to add to our famous.

3.) 13 Sep 2020 19:26:38
Tav absolutely not good enough to play in midfield.

4.) 13 Sep 2020 19:59:58
John25, agree with you mate, he also struggles to cross the ball to someone with the same colour of shirt on.

5.) 13 Sep 2020 21:42:05
People on this site used to criticise why we needed 2 holding midfielders but when u hear stevie g explain they cover runs our full backs make it seems so simple but that's why we come on sites like this while sg is paid big bucks.

6.) 13 Sep 2020 21:48:19
hahahhhohhoohohoho good one stuck. totally agree. needs to cutdown on all the jobs and focus. then .

7.) 13 Sep 2020 22:15:40
Tav will not be judged firstly on his defensive duties, the management know his qualities and they’re used firstly, that’s rather obvious or he would have been gone long ago.

8.) 14 Sep 2020 07:45:16
No DK, my point is that Tav will not be dropped regardless of his performance. The teams performance, over the longevity of the season, is on the basis of Tav playing well as he is our leader. You don’t win leagues with an inconsistent captain

Tom, I understand what your saying but as a RB, I still think he will be judged on defence over his attacking ability. I wasn’t talking about Gerrard and co’s opinion in particular. His defensive ability is the first thing we always say about Tav. It’s paramount to any RB.

9.) 14 Sep 2020 08:16:51
BlueG, why are you not talking about SG opinion? Surely that’s the only one that matters?

Think his comments over the last few days tell us all we need to know about his thoughts on Tav - but you and some other may know better!

10.) 14 Sep 2020 08:48:25
Why is everyone so fixated on moving Tav from RB? it was bad enough suggesting him as a winger now we have him playing CM? He is a full back all day long, some of the best full backs in world football can't defend because they are no longer expected to be world class defenders.

11.) 14 Sep 2020 10:58:16
Think you have misunderstood again DK. I didn’t discuss SGs opinion as it had nothing to do with the point I was making. Also, Gerrards comments on Tav don’t support nor contradict the idea that a RBs main duty is defending. So I have no idea where the ‘know better’ than Gerrard comment comes from.

Honestly no malice in anything I’m saying I don’t understand why some people on here take differing opinions as a personal attack.

If u can state why someone’s statement is wrong, without taking it personally, might be a good start.

12.) 14 Sep 2020 16:52:33
Big, it’s the way fb defenders have mutated mate, I honestly don’t think Robertson ids a great defender, it’s the pace going forward that matters nowadays mate.

I rate Kent very highly.

Holder Costa cost Leeds 16m from Wolves. I would consider him a squad rotation player.

As Kent is younger, English, and a key player for us, I can’t settle with getting less than 16m for him.

I would imagine most of us don’t want the headache of replacing Kent. But, every player has a price. What’s your minimum?

BlueGecko

1.) 21 Aug 2020 11:42:29
Just think back to last season 90% of the support sayin we paid over odds at 7mill. If leeds offered 12 he's got to go. Think he could be replaced fairly easily. 7 goals and zero assist are not hard numbers to replace.

2.) 21 Aug 2020 12:17:41
By who Paul?

3.) 21 Aug 2020 12:49:29
Paul take it you don’t like Kent you keep referring back to last year we’re talking about this year his stats are 4 games 2 goals that’s hard to replace and he looks like he's going to be our most creative player.

4.) 21 Aug 2020 12:52:47
Exactly Paul86 - People are acting like the lad is Laudrup! The lad has bags of talent but simply doesn’t have enough end product.

Yes he can dribble past 3 players but 9 times out of 20 gets the ball taken off him when trying to go past the 4th.

He doesn’t offer enough in the final third.

And to those that say he always has 3 men on him so creates space for others - that only applies if you can pass them the ball which he very rarely manages.

Personally want him to develop and improve but at 23 I wonder how much development he has in him. I’ve certainly not seen improvement on Last year.

Hold out for £16M - buy Martin Boyle for £1M and that gives us time to find a suitable replacement with plenty of spare change.

5.) 21 Aug 2020 13:34:25
Anything North of £10 million and I'd sell. There's no doubting he has ability, but:-
1/ we overpaid for him in Scotland
2/ he has a questionable temperament
3/ too inconsistent
4/ not enough goals or assists
5/ we are a selling club. Tidy profit for a years outlay on a player who's flattered to deceive more than he has delivered.

6.) 21 Aug 2020 14:16:00
gers man i like kent. But these days everybody loves speakin about stats and figures. Unfortinately his are very very poor. If u look back i will say no dount he's talented but his position should be 12-15 goals a season an 10+ assists.

7.) 21 Aug 2020 14:19:59
Paul 86,rangers will never in a month of sunday's sell ryan kent for £12million! Rangers don't want to sell kent and it would take easily a bid north of £15million for rangers to even remotely consider the idea of selling him! He's a terrific talent, get behind the guy and our team why don't you 🤔.

8.) 21 Aug 2020 14:27:32
Fully behind him just sayin he could be replaced if were to leave. Think everybody not just myself would like to see hom produce a bit more in the final third sgl?

9.) 21 Aug 2020 14:30:28
Kent is a talented lad and I personally like him but he's not irreplaceable.

10.) 21 Aug 2020 15:22:51
Paul 86,are you actually aware my friend that ryan kent actually has a 1 in 3 goalscoring ratio for rangers which is very good for a winger.

11.) 21 Aug 2020 15:38:23
Well done on looking at his wiki sgl. bar the goal keepers he's also worst goal provider in the team which is worse than poor for a winger as u say.

12.) 21 Aug 2020 15:38:54
Kent is one of the best players at our club,
And zikos, people rave about kent because there's not another player like him in the team. If we sell or he gets injured who is his back up? Barker should never be anywhere near the squad, murphy and jones are not good enough.

13.) 21 Aug 2020 16:00:44
Sgl he actually has a 1 in 4 but who’s counting. Which means he won’t hit double figures most seasons!

That’s pretty poor - go and compare that with what’s over the road and it’s not surprising why we can’t win anything. When we are very poor people like yourself keep telling us everything is great. Well it’s not and neither is Ryan Kent!

If the league was to be ‘paused’ then it surely suggests there will be some form of penalty for Aberdeen and Celtic? What that will look like I don’t know but they can’t possibly pause the league with them accountable, and not punish them.

I’ve got a feeling the ‘no harm no foul’ approach will be taken by the SPFL. Playing stupidity on Aberdeen’s part, and a caution for Celtic on Bangoli.

As much as I want the league to continue. St Johnstone already have a fitter team against us tomorrow having not played the sheep on Saturday. Might sound petty, but little differences that seem insignificant now could ultimately be a big factor come the end of the season.

Total farce. Action needs to be taken quickly for guilty parties. We desperately need guidelines on what should happen to players/ clubs that break the rules. In house investigations tell me nothing. Some people clearly think they are above the law because they can kick a baw.

BlueGecko

1.) 11 Aug 2020 23:31:52
Ti be honest if we can't beat St J just now we really should worry as they are honking.

11 Aug 2020 11:14:10
First time poster.

What should be the protocol in disciplining clubs/ players on breaking govt rules surrounding C.V.? 2 games in and we’ve already seen violation of rules from 2 clubs.

Other clubs will ultimately suffer because of this whether that’s having games rescheduled or teams not playing their strongest 11.

I don’t understand how there is no clarity from anyone on this going forward. It’s definitely not the last time C.V. will interrupt our 55 season

International: Dodds.

1.) 11 Aug 2020 11:27:06
Agree 100% BlueGecko and have been banging on about this for a while now. Our board really have to get their act together on this and there's no excuse not to.

We need clarification ASAP rather than the SPFL making up rules on the hoof.

2.) 11 Aug 2020 11:29:18
Points deductions screw them no manners.

3.) 11 Aug 2020 11:33:23
Welcome blue gecko and I think we should hand out severe penalties to Aberdeen and Celtic.

4.) 11 Aug 2020 11:43:21
Instead of rushing into the new season in their quest to help Celtic to their mythical 10IAR, the SPFL and SFA should have put rules and regulations in place to stop these incidents from occurring.
Footballers are in a privileged position of being able to participate in a team sport. The least they can do is obey the rules like the rest of us away from the clubs.

5.) 11 Aug 2020 12:02:32
Welcome mate.
Problem is this is unprecedented and is being 'made up' as we go along. By that I mean that not every scenario has been thought of and a solution or penalty applied to that scenario. Therefore when some eejit decides to go off on their jollies there isn't something somewhere that can be referred to and then the correct tariff applied.
For example, if we don't go into work there is a company handbook which tells our employer what to do. Not so here.
I don't know what the answer is, but there must be penalties applied and it must be fair.
In the case of Aberdeen the team they were due to play got sweet fa out of it all, yet their next 2 fixtures will be played with a weakened team, so indirectly those teams benefit. Hardly seems fair but as I said, it's being made up as we go along.

6.) 11 Aug 2020 12:06:07
It's simple if they don't have enough players to play a league game because of positive test or isolation then they forfeit the game 3.0.

7.) 11 Aug 2020 12:06:26
Do we really expect the corrupt-to-the-core SFA and SPFL to put rules in place that might damage their beloved Celtic? Imagine the noise if that had been a couple of Rangers players. Lawell will ensure that nothing happens to the unwashed. Their problem is that if they punish Aberdeen they would HAVE TO punish Celtic too.

8.) 11 Aug 2020 12:14:31
I agree that there should be a set of rules for this, be careful though, Rangers, Dundee United, and Hibs got away with the first breaches with the pre-season games. If rules come out they will start from then.

9.) 11 Aug 2020 13:33:45
We all heard the noise from the Hollicom lead media over the 2 pre season friendlies that Rangers were involved in regarding testing.

10.) 11 Aug 2020 13:57:14
it doesn't matter if Rangers Dundee United or Hibs get retrospective penalties or not, we cannot just change rules to make sure it doesn't affect us. it is unforgivable that any player doesn't make themselves available per their contract. if they then bring the game into disrepute then there is already penalties for this. the game should go ahead, if the offending team can't play or has to field a weakened team then that's their fault, noone else. the alternative is to stop the league, then who is the losers, certainly not the offending team.

11.) 11 Aug 2020 15:48:25
Which breaches were these?

I can’t see him starting tomorrow. Comes on last 15/ 20, scores, concedes no injury. I’ll be happy.

There is absolutely no way Patrick John Joseph Roberts is even being considered Walter. Even the Scottish media won’t entertain that. Why do you think he would walk in the team? Lol

He wasn’t even good for them, his stats are crap and i'd start Hagi.

Baffles me some of these posts lol.
