Is there any truth in the McKenna rumours? I'm sure he would demand a decent fee and not convinced he would be an upgrade on what we already have.

Haven't seen to much of him since he moved to Forest but by his Aberdeen standards, would pick a fit Souttar over him everyday of the week.

As Balogun is first pick, it looks like big Phil thinks different. but is McKenna a marked improvement in what's already in the building?

McKenna is a Celtic fan. he’s also not very good. I’ll give up if this is the tripe we are signing.

2.) 05 Jan 2024 16:11:00
I'd say McKenna is an upgrade and would be our starting LCB.

3.) 05 Jan 2024 16:20:26
McKenna is a real possibility.

4.) 05 Jan 2024 16:38:24
For me he’s not any better or worse than Davies. Would be a solid squad player, much like Souttar, but is he going to make our first team better? For me no.

5.) 05 Jan 2024 16:40:54
Think if he does come it’s purely based on Scottish requirements for europe.

6.) 05 Jan 2024 16:42:08
There is better than McKenna out there for the money you would pay him.

7.) 05 Jan 2024 16:47:27
Gc how do you know he’s a Celtic fan? He’s from the Aberdeen area so I would assume he’s an Aberdeen fan and I know that’s not a lot better as having worked in Aberdeen I know we’re hated up there but what makes you say he’s a tic fan?

8.) 05 Jan 2024 16:49:24
Think he is off to celtic.

9.) 05 Jan 2024 16:59:51
Yeh, Sky Sports reporting both Celtic and Rangers are interested in McKenna.

10.) 05 Jan 2024 17:04:20
He is better than what we have. People that think otherwise are just going by who he supported as a kid.

11.) 05 Jan 2024 17:09:56
I’m not fussed on McKenna.

12.) 05 Jan 2024 17:42:12
McKenna is not an upgrade your joking he’s pants hope this is crap.

13.) 05 Jan 2024 17:12:24
Very overrated at Aberdeen.

14.) 05 Jan 2024 17:58:24
All the media spec says he's off to celtic n we are in a transfer tussle of war, usual clicbait nonsense.

15.) 05 Jan 2024 18:03:42
Dunc this has been on the go since last May, we are interested.

16.) 05 Jan 2024 18:16:03
If celtic definitely want scott mckenna and it most certainly looks like they do, then that's where he'll go as far as i'm concerned ?I don't even know if we're definitely trying to sign him ?.

17.) 05 Jan 2024 18:39:44
Scott McKenna is from Coupar Angus my cousin his married to his all the family are Celtic fans.

18.) 05 Jan 2024 18:44:06
May I add it does not matter which team players followed as a boy, they will go where the best contract and first team football is as it’s a short career.

19.) 05 Jan 2024 19:05:43
It’s actually going with watching him, jumps in to tackles needlessly and his positional sense is woeful, if he would approve us I wouldn’t care who he supported.

20.) 05 Jan 2024 19:20:13
McKenna is no better than we have. Not for me.

21.) 05 Jan 2024 19:23:30
McKenna would start over Davies/ soutter and balogun so hard to say he's not an improvement.

22.) 05 Jan 2024 19:32:09
Mark scott mckenna is from kirriemuir. Just had a text from a mate with a screen shot from his brother 10 mins ago. he's currently at ibrox as we speak. Believe me or not. I said all alomg he wouldn't joing rangers due to information months ago. Highland bear there's and article from 2020 in paper him stating he's a celtoc man and love going ti big euro nights with his dad.

23.) 05 Jan 2024 20:13:43
For everyone who have been screaming out for more physical centre backs, McKenna is a massive upgrade on Davies . Very strong in the air in both boxes and we might actually get some goals from corners if he signs . Souttar and McKenna long term partnership going forward.

24.) 05 Jan 2024 20:27:37
McKenna is NO better than what we have. Other than being Scottish.

25.) 05 Jan 2024 20:43:01
So what's your thoughts on scott mckenna possibly signing for rangers Paul86 ?Do you now think he'll sign for rangers mate ? I think mckenna is a decent centre half and would like us to sign him and he's also a left footed centre half, which are harder to come by ? Truth be told Paul86, when it was reported both rangers and celtic were wanting to sign mckenna, i did think definitely go to celtic over rangers ?.

26.) 05 Jan 2024 21:29:31
Av no idea mate only passing on info. Told he was at ibrox 2day from 3 diff folk from kirrie, a very small town. Celtic want him in summer, rangers want him now ( which would give him playing time leading up to the euros)

A couple of hours before Pedro got sacked the Daily Record was reporting that Nacho Novo had been summoned to a meeting with the board.

I can't seem to find anything about it online though or the original article.

Anyone have any clue if this actually happened or what it might have been about? And is the guy still helping out at training now that Pedro has gone?

I would imagine he will be a link between the new management team and the Latinos, makes good sense really, Rangers man and understands their culture

Richard Gough says the only time he had to face the media was after a bad defeat or when times were tough. Walter made him do the hard stuff when it counted as he was the captain.

Tav has avoided the hard situations for years,

Very promising to see Davis make sure the club captain was at his side for the very first press conference.

He did look extremely awkward but about time he faced the music,

1.) 04 Oct 2023 18:28:01
Only so many times he can apologise to the fans but its been noticed for years he dodges them. i'm sick hearing apologies. Hopefully him and goldson are gone after this season.

2.) 04 Oct 2023 18:36:53
Agree on that about Tav but when he has faced the cameras it’s the same old bs we will learn from this.

3.) 04 Oct 2023 19:46:54
We need to bring in at least 3 defenders over the next 2 windows imo goldson tav and BB have became used to being 2nd and all need moved on.

Keep hearing everyone talking about how well Beale has been backed by the board over transfers. I just don't see how he has been?

Yes he has brought in 9 new players but Rangers have also made some decent money this season with the sales of Kamara, Sakala and Colak.

When sales are taken into account, we only have an outlay on players of around 2-3 mill.

I might be missing something but surely our transfer budget this season was higher than that? That is absolute peanuts in todays market. Never going to improve unless the board backs the manager and invests some decent money.

1.) 06 Sep 2023 07:16:04
So you expect the club to run at a loss again? only one year of profit then back in the red.

2.) 06 Sep 2023 07:47:50
9 new signings. of course he's been backed. you obvoisly forget there signing on bonuses, wages etc to pay all these players.

22 Jul 2023 15:25:05
One of the first things Beale mentioned when he was appointed was bringing back the suit and tie tradition. Just wondering if this had actually been implemented? Or if he decided against it.

Not complaining, just don't remember seeing it too many times since it was mentioned. Seems to be training gear most of the time.

Also just an observation, the last couple of matches and interviews, Beale looks knackered. Looks like the man has already put in a solid shift over the summer. Hopefully another center half and striker to come.

1.) 22 Jul 2023 17:16:37
Think it applies to official matches - not friendlies.

26 Nov 2022 18:28:34
I see lots of us calling for a Rangers man to come in as a number 2 with Beale. I personally think a good mix of methods and personalities is a lot more important than a Rangers connection.

For me, one of the biggest problems under Gio was that the coaches and manager all seemed extremely calm and similar. There was no one who would lose the plot and give the players the bollocking they needed.

Regardless of who it is and who they grew supporting, I think if we can get in an assistant who can deal with the players and the discipline and compliment Beales coaching then we are onto a winner.

Dunc

1.) 26 Nov 2022 19:49:17
I agree think you need a good cop bad cop situation.

2.) 26 Nov 2022 20:04:48
Dunc good post mate not sure how these guys are behind closed doors, training ground etc but your definitely onto something there they all did seem really calm now that you've pointed it out maybe that's just coaches these days though. I would personally always want at least one guy like the Saudi manager if anyone seen his team talk at half time against Argentina it was superb and definitely worked.

3.) 27 Nov 2022 11:45:31
Neil Mcann.

17 Nov 2022 15:54:54
It looks like we are sticking with Gio. If that's the case, he need to be properly backed in January.

Get rid of Morelos and Kent, take whatever clubs are willing to pay. Much rather make a loss on them both than have the uncertainty and the constant negative displays each week, which are taking a toll on the squad for the rest of the season. Would also sell Kamara. Thanks for your service, was a decent player. We are bound to make a profit on him and he clearly isn't happy.

I can't see how any one of the players signed so far has been Gios.

A new manager, an ageing squad, players who are soon out of contract and dreaming of their next big move. Plus a manager who has to replace his best players with substandard, injured ones.

Sorry for ranting, but to go from such a high last season, to just pure boredom and negativity and frustration. I think laying the blame on Gios door is pure and simply wrong.

Dunc

1.) 17 Nov 2022 19:10:07
Shouldn’t make a loss on Alfie as he only cost us £1m.

2.) 17 Nov 2022 20:09:25
Dunc, it’s always the manager that carries the can.
When the team are playing well the manager gets all the plaudits it’s flipped when we are playing bad and by god are we playing bad.
I’m not sure there is a different style of football in him so would be concerned if we don’t do the right thing and show him the door.

No padrew either. I remember him absolutely slating Scottish football on a couple of occasions whilst talking about Forster when he was Newcastle manager. That was a few years ago when the league was actually competitive as well.
Plus he only ever seems to get one good initial season from a team then fades and I think we now need someone long term,
Also his links to mike Ashley and I would recommend we stay well clear.
Much better options available.

I would say he does have the balls to drop players, look at Herrera, dalcio, Miller and kranjkar. All were first pics at the start of the season and all played poorly so were dropped.

The problem is that too many players aren't turning up and showing desire. If he dropped everyone who was playing without passion and desire, I don't think we would be able to put 11 players on the park.

It's an outside shout but I would love someone like Tim Sherwood. He currently has a directors role at Swindon. And I imagine he would have clauses that allow him to take up managers roles with little compensation. I am pretty uninspired by the names being mentioned so far. Whoever it ends up being, he needs a lot more backing in the transfer windows.

Warburton said himself that over the summer, with the exception of Scott Allan, he had gotten everyone we went for. We didn't spend a lot but he identified his targets within the budget he was promised and the club made it happen.

It makes no sense at all for him to have spent months planning for this market unless this is the sort of money he was promised. We are hardly going for superstars. He identified his top 2 targets this window and both are rather modest and so far we have missed out on one and are embarrassing ourself on the other.

Don't get me wrong, this is the most I have enjoyed being a rangers fan for many a year and it's possibly the amount of S***e we have been though over the last few years that has clouded my judgement. But the board needs to back the manager. Warburton has been a breath of fresh air since he has arrived and the thought of him leaving due to lack of backing fills me with dread.

If it was me, I would go with:
Shagger
Tav, goldson, King, Barasic.
Sands, jack, Lundstram.
Tillman, Colac, Arfield.

Sands doesn’t attack the ball in the air. We have been found out at set pieces all season. Goldson has been well off it, although I don’t think it can help playing along side an out of position midfielder.
I agree with dropping Kent but who do we bring in? We are so poor in the wide positions. Can’t believe that we are still going with Scott Wright in major European games.

In house media is simply not objective. It’s all well and fine when we are winning and playing well and romping the league. Do you really think that rangers media would be asking the hard questions when we are losing games and things aren’t going well? Do you think rangers media will scrutinise how the club is being run?

During the banter years when Jim (Jabba) Traynor was in charge, he banned the media as well. So we didn’t have anyone asking the club the important questions, this was so recent, I can’t understand how quickly us fans forget this.

A well run club should have nothing to hide.

I’m not saying he should be given a role at the club, Would absolutely love and appreciate him being involved in the celebrations in some way though.

I also agree that McCoist was paid very well. He also ruined his chance of a career in management to stick by his club. We were being run by con men and crooks and he stuck it out and stood up for the club at every opportunity, I’m also not blind to the fact he made mistakes along the way.

I honestly believe things could have been very different today if we didn’t have McCoist in charge in those early days.
