Panzo to rangers! Here we go!

Glasvegas23

1.) 02 Jul 2023 20:01:24
I think we may be playing a back 5 next season. Can’t see Sterling and Panzo coming in to not play. Reckon our starting 5 will be Tav Sterling Goldson Panzo Yilmaz.

2.) 02 Jul 2023 20:06:09
Hopefully panzo, cifuentes and Danilo will be with us soon ?⚪️?.

3.) 02 Jul 2023 20:10:12
T4O on twitter saying Rangers do have an interest in the player but no deal has been agreed.

4.) 02 Jul 2023 20:13:53
Were no going to play a back 5. livi at ibrox. Let play a back 5.

5.) 02 Jul 2023 20:19:14
No danger will we start with 5 at the back this year.

6.) 02 Jul 2023 20:21:14
So our best cb is left out davidb?

7.) 02 Jul 2023 20:25:43
532 with both Tav and Yilmaz pushing on would be my preferred formation. Can't see it tho.

8.) 02 Jul 2023 20:30:08
I actually don't think Panzo's coming in to be a starter right away. At 22 he could be soon enough much like Bassey.

9.) 02 Jul 2023 20:36:32
It's certainly looking like we'll play 3 at the back - which I don't see as the negative that a lot of posters see it to be.

3-5-2 or 3-4-3 is probably more attacking than we usually set up.

10.) 02 Jul 2023 20:44:52
4th Official saying we are interested in Panzo as we have been all summer so far, but no deal has been agreed.

11.) 02 Jul 2023 20:57:58
T4O have already rubbishd the msm report and said no fee agreed but remain interested.

Why would you ever believe the Scottish msm?

12.) 02 Jul 2023 21:03:51
I don't know anything about Panzo but at 6ft 1 i would guess he isn't a powerful centre half that's going to win everything the air.

Could someone tell me what kind of player he is?

13.) 02 Jul 2023 21:08:44
We play three cb's it will be in a 3421 or 3412 formation in my opinion. can see us playing it but not our main formation.

14.) 02 Jul 2023 21:22:45
Weeridvan your joking panzo coming straight into 1st eleven.

15.) 02 jul 2023 21:23:06
the abuse of the media is hilarious, we relied on them for generations, many are still hard working people, , talking of which,

tavsonloyal, hope your well.

16.) 02 Jul 2023 21:29:50
Guys there’s rarely going to be the same 11 week in week out. It’s a squad game when your competing in the league, cups and Europe.

Different combinations of players for different opponents.

17.) 02 Jul 2023 21:31:46
Why would we not paul? Celtic played 3412 under Martin O'Neil and it was very successful for them.

18.) 02 Jul 2023 21:41:47
5 at the back? how's about asking if we can play 2 keepers as well!

19.) 02 Jul 2023 21:45:46
Can see us switching formations this season maybe 3 at the back in Europe or the piggery but would like to see us always go with 2 strikers at ibrox.

20.) 02 Jul 2023 21:54:12
Why would we play a back 5 in the spfl.

21.) 02 Jul 2023 22:00:36
I think he will change formation between Europe and domestic

Back 5 in Europe will make sense considering what happened In last season's euro campaign.

22.) 02 jul 2023 22:31:38
again machines, your not picking this up, 5 at back would only apply in a very few games if the coach deems fit,

23.) 02 Jul 2023 22:33:01
People were losing there sh£t at times when we played with 2 holding midfielders but are now all for playing 5 at the back?‍♂️.

24.) 02 Jul 2023 22:39:35
Martin O'Neil Did well with a 3 at the back system 20 years ago. Football has moved on a great deal since then. MON’s tactics wouldn’t be nearly as effective in the modern game. What MON’s team did well, that this current Rangers side could potentially replicate, is use bigger players to score a lot of set-pieces. MON’s team would out all 3 CBs in the oppositions half, along with Sutton and Hartson, and just fire the ball into the opposition box whenever they had a free-kick. Rangers have Lammers who is 6,3. Sima who is 6,2. Dessers and Cifuentes look like big lads. So I do expect Rangers to score more from set-pieces.

Modern teams almost always play variations of the 4-3-3. Brendan Rodgers did it, Gerrard did it, and Ange did it. The 4-3-3 is one of the best systems in modern football and it’s key when it comes to pressing the opposition (something that wasn’t prevalent during MONs era) . In fact, Rangers use to adopt a 3 up front system against Celtic back then and force them to go man-for-man at the back and we had a lot of joy doing it. When McLeish was manager Rangers won more Silverware that MON did.

25.) 02 Jul 2023 22:51:42
Rangers have enjoyed enormous success in Europe over the last 5 years while playing a 4-3-3 for the most part. Rangers problems started to come when GVB moved us away from being a side well drilled in that 4-3–3 and kept chopping and changing it to suit the opposition.

26.) 02 Jul 2023 22:54:05
No issue with aa 5-3-2 in certain European nights but with that formation and with a midfield of Cifuentas, Raskin and Cantwell, where's the room for Dowell, Hagi, Lammers, Lawrence, Sima, Danilo, Colak, Matondo, Sakala. I know there's a few in ther that might move on or maybe won't sign but for me we're playing with 2 up top and one behind or 1 up top and 2 number 10's behind. No chance of 5 at the back week in week out.

27.) 02 Jul 2023 23:10:27
Football has moved on? Its still 11 v 11 with goals winning games. 3 at the back with wing backs is quite popular in europe and with international teams.

28.) 02 Jul 2023 23:15:19
I think it's clear Beale wants a flexible squad that can play in different formations. This is a good thing, means we can switch things up and we have plan b and plan c if need be.

29.) 02 Jul 2023 23:17:18
Cifuentes Raskin Cantwell Lammers Dessers Pappy, but that's the manager decision.

30.) 02 Jul 2023 23:18:05
Verd, was that the season when gio took us to europa league final, where he was being lauded for his tactical knowledge, in particular going 3 at the back and matching against the strikers.

Mb is building a team that has loads of options available to him.

31.) 03 Jul 2023 00:03:06
Beale is signing players that can play in many positions and we will be able to change our formation for different teams like he wants.

32.) 03 Jul 2023 00:03:28
Tomthumb, I'm doing okay, mate, still reading this stuff on here occasionally even if it depresses me so much. Don't post now, as it's turning into fantasy football for kids on here. Hope you are doing well, I really only come on here to see what you, John and Copland are saying. Keep healthy, keep safe and keep loving the Rangers, my friend.

33.) 03 Jul 2023 01:32:26
Formations can be over complicated. Beale favours rotations and flexibility in that. dunno why some get so hung up on it. We played lots of variations in latter part of season in matches. Times have moved on from a rigid shape and set up.

34.) 03 Jul 2023 02:07:10
@Mols73 - I’m talking about GVB’s time at the club as a whole. We went from a team that had an identity, to becoming a team that had no clear footballing physiology. Rangers ended up playing a horseshoe formation every match just endlessly crossing balls into the box.

Our defense was never better under GVB than when he played 4 at the back with Bassey being deployed as a stopper next to Goldson.

35.) 03 Jul 2023 06:32:04
Sure, I can see Beale tweaking the formation. Going from a 4-3-3 to a 4-3-1-2 split striker formation (similar to that of the 4-3-3 but with a false 9). But 5 at the back? I doubt it.

Ange played a 4-3-3 every week while he was at Celtic and won 5 trophies in 2 years. If a team is well drilled to play a certain way they can enjoy a lot of success. The high pressing 4-3-3 is one of the most widely used formations in European football and there is a reason for that - It works.

36.) 03 Jul 2023 08:42:37
Tomthumb aye picked it up ok thanks don't fret over that .

jeez.

37.) 03 Jul 2023 11:41:17
MB said himself that he was considering 3 at the back.

Both Man City and Inter played with a back 3 in the champs league so I'm not sure where you are getting the high press 433. Conte won the leagues with Juve Inter Chelsea playing 3 at the back. A lot of international teams now favour it aswell. I think it could be a serious possibility.

I wonder if we could retrain Matondo as a wing back? Before anyone laughs remember cuadrado and moses, to be fair it revived moses career.

For me it would have to be 3412. Interesting tho.

38.) 03 Jul 2023 11:58:37
Funny I can't remember people complaining over gios euro tactics when we went to final or made the champions league ?.

Our team was made up of reserves and lower league English players something that still concerns me now the champions league is a cut above that.

Scottish teams level is Europa League anything In champions league is a bonus

Hard to hear but true.

I'm not sure about what you guys think, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the reaction from our manager and captain yesterday. Complaining about decisions, penalties yellow cards red cards. I didn't think Clement was going to be the type of manager to do that. It looked a little desperate.

The fact of the matter is they had five or six players play well yesterday and we didn't, well maybe in patches. I think with another couple of signings and a few weeks off for winter break we can come back and really challenge Celtic, something none of us thought possible eight weeks ago, so I kind of thought it was best to concentrate on that rather than bring up decisions in the game, I get emotions were high though.

Ps. Would absolutely love Shankland as our number 9. Said it 4/5 years ago when he was 22/23.

1.) 31 Dec 2023 09:56:02
Am glad he’s no letting it continue we got cheated regardless a our own performance a hope they take it full road.

2.) 31 Dec 2023 10:00:51
Everything about Clement is class and we (Rangers fans) are glad to have him.

Complete fair question regarding the penalty and 2 red cards (for the other team), I’m looking forward to the commentary being released.

3.) 31 Dec 2023 10:05:11
Saying got cheated is nothing short of embarrassing.

4.) 31 Dec 2023 10:10:18
I personally prefer the Gaffer fighting for every decision rather than the mute Beale giving Patrick Thistle goals.

5.) 31 Dec 2023 10:21:39
Well the two yellow cards were clear 2nd yellows so no issue with him questioning it, or do you think we should just take it? Alistair Johnston should have comfortably been off yesterday, one of them going off and Celtic most likely wouldn’t have been in that position which caused Leon going off. They matter you know.

6.) 31 Dec 2023 10:36:09
I don’t agree boy - blue, if it’s blatant he should stick up for his team. Celtic moan about everything just to cause doubt and mostly get away with it. The penalty was blatant and Brenda would have even disturbed his hair if it had happened to Celtic, even the BBC says it was a very strange decision for the ref and VAR to make .

7.) 31 Dec 2023 10:39:27
Wish I had a quid for the number of times posters on here find things embarrassing.
quite frankly I think it’s embarrassing
Happy new year to all and thanks Ed’s for putting up with our embarrassing posts ?.

8.) 31 Dec 2023 10:44:44
The way the possible penalty was handled by so called professionals is nothing short of embarrassing. The manager had a right to mention it in his interview. He’s looking for clarity. He didn’t say that’s why we lost. We lost because we got beat but his concern over incidents like this is justified. Clement didn’t do anything wrong.

9.) 31 Dec 2023 10:45:39
if the manager thinks his was cheated then how does he think fans feel the players he picked cheayted
rangers fans out of a performance
and not for the first time.

10.) 31 Dec 2023 10:49:00
The manager is right to question these decisions as they had a massive bearing on the outcome of the game, on top of the above points, why did it take until the dying moments for McGregor to get booked as well, he was repeatedly fouling in the first half and should’ve been booked. We have been done by a number of poor refereeing decisions in old firm games in recent times so what’s the point of VAR when it isn’t working. It’s embarrassing for Scottish football, the showcase games from our country are being largely decided by incompetent officials. It’s not good enough.

Beyond that, I don’t think PC for one second will blame everything on the referees and will be privately pouring through footage of the game, questioning performances and will take that to the training ground. He’ll know our performances need to be better than that and some players need to step up their game and levels of effort.

Celtic were there for the taking, their defence is poor and we don’t test it enough. Hart is a bomb scare in goals but we don’t get enough efforts on goal.

11.) 31 Dec 2023 11:10:43
Not sure Clement just said it was the referee that contributed to our downfall?
He also applauded the wonderful strike from Kyogo.
And it’s a managers job to analyse all aspects of the game.

12.) 31 Dec 2023 11:17:06
We got cheated out a pen and they got away with consistent fouling after weeks of the media and it’s rangers pen patter we’ve no had a pen in over 10 year at the dump so a think you letting it slide is embarrassing boy blue.

13.) 31 Dec 2023 11:26:12
Lads - Sima WAS offside - Its the inaccuracy of correct reporting in real time which caused all the problems yesterday -ie a bye kick allowed when offside was nearer edge of penalty box- and if we are honest had we a true goal-scorer up front we may have won the game -we caused our own downfall yesterday by poor finishing and marking and rubbish passing - PC is right to question should other yellows been shown yesterday but that's it! - let's not get like the paranoid androids across the city.

14.) 31 Dec 2023 11:47:40
Floyd if he was offside and that’s the excuse they scrambled to get out, why was a goal kick given, at Boy Blue, nothing embarrassing about it, it’s about time we started calling them out, that mhob are seasoned pros at it and look where it gets them, 2 players on the park who should have had 2nd yellows! 50/ 50 decisions in their favour all the time rather than ours! If we don’t start making noise we will get nothing! They roll out the conspiracy card before every OF like clockwork and it works a treat for them, fight fire with fire, they can shove their conspiracy theories up their a**e now after that showing yesterday! The “offside” was only given 1/ 2hr after the incident, that’s because they knew they’d f***ed up and we’re scrambling looking for a reason to save face, I guarantee when the audio is released there will be no mention of looking at an offside in the build up or that would have been mentioned at the time, give them a chance to hand it over but I would make an alleged assumption they will be doctoring the audio to suit!

15.) 31 Dec 2023 11:53:47
Blue, re the pen incident. On bbc radio, they said var had not awarded a pen purely because him moving his hand onto the ball was not
" unnatural " which to me means that they thought it WAS the natural thing to do?!

16.) 31 Dec 2023 12:32:02
Nah I think he handled post match with class as usual. Absolutely right to question important decisions and he did without going over the top. He's not exactly saying they're out against us or anything.

17.) 31 Dec 2023 13:30:19
Clement was quite right to highlight the dubious decision making. No one was saying that did not contribute to our own downfall but given the officials yesterday we would probably have needed to have been at least three goals up to have got away from that place with all three points.

18.) 31 Dec 2023 13:40:52
We complain when our club don’t stand up for us, soon as they do some think it’s embarrassing.

19.) 31 Dec 2023 13:15:58
G bone - simple question when u see the footage - was Sima offside? Answer is yes therefore my post states that the correct reason was not communicated at the correct time and we need an answer to find out why a goal kick was taken and not a true offside spot for the ball to be placed! Were he not offside we could have a point with penalty but it is insignificant in big picture - -also one contentious decision should not have beaten us yesterday - OUR OWN FAILINGS DID!

20.) 31 Dec 2023 13:54:03
One contentious decision? So Bernardo and Johnstone shouldn’t have seen 2nd yellows?

21.) 31 Dec 2023 15:20:06
If they do a full review on this there could be retrospective action against the players in question. It can't be allowed to be ignored that's for sure.

22.) 31 Dec 2023 15:27:37
G bone - You are sounding like Them with their penalty moans paranoia - We cost ourselves the game by not defending corners not scoring easy chances and not getting near their midfield - on another day yes those guys may have got sent off but they didn't is the fact - Have a Good New year my man and let's hope we can control the controllable aspects of our game into the NY and not have to worry about refs decisions - right or wrong
I trust PC to get the right players in too?.

23.) 31 Dec 2023 16:01:22
Blue its you that’s missing the point, there has been a concerted media campaign regarding Rangers and penalties mostly led by Celtic supporting commentators, other SPFL managers have also chipped in. So we need to defend ourselves by highlighting when the obvious decision goes against us .
The lines across the pitch that appeared long after the event may not capture the exact moment when the ball was played forward but kind of takes the heat of a shambolic handling of the issue, Collum said it did hit his hand but it was in a natural position . Rangers are entitled to have a listen to the audio just to hear how it played out. Clement should continue to call out bad decisions against our club.

For me they both have to play, no way either of them are benched, for me Morelos stays, so 2 up top, then the headache of picking midfielders, davis and airfield first on team sheet. give me your preferred formation and starting 11.
