With Barisic back fit Stevie g now has to decide who is best back four is and stick with it so they can build up an understanding tav gets pelters on here but he has a different cb next to him nearly every game the balance isn't right in midfield we can't control a game as we are constantly giving the ball away they don't create chances all we do is get it out wide to wingers who can't even beat a man would like to c Mcrorie get a run as holding midfielder with Arfield and hopefully an attacking midfielder signed in January playing in front of him am all for giving players a chance to let them settle but have to agree Grezda looks a waste of money so would be Candeias and Kent for me if fit and not suspended.

I'll be honest grezda hasn't been great but he hasn't played much yet. The management must've seen something in him. Tavernier was pretty hopeless again tonight. He can't get his crosses by the first man.

I'll tell you something tav gets a helluva time on here from our supporters. I'm the first to admit defensively is definitely not his strong point, but when he's out our team, we most definitely miss him offensively, big time! A lot of teams have right backs who are much better at their offensive game, opposed to their defensive game.
The difference being, that they have good players to cover their full backs, when they do bomb forward! IMO tav is the best right back in scotland, offensively,
which is and has been the traits of the modern day right back for well over a decade now! Our team under gerrard is in its infancy, rebuilding wise! Tav gets the stick continually, when there's much worse performers, who don't get half the stick! Tav is a very good footballer and nobody will change my thinking on that! When he's not in the team we have nowt, going forward, on our right hand side!
I never heard many bears criticising alan hutton, when he was playing out of his skin offensively, for us, before his move to spurs. He was similar styled to tav, as defence wasn't his strong point but he had better players, then at rangers, who could compensate, for his forward surging runs! Give tav a break for god's sake and back the guy, gerrard and our team as a whole! Rant over!

I think the issue most of us have with Tav is simple. He isn’t great at defending, but not good enough going forward. He’s stck between a rock and a hard place.

McGregors kick out was crap but Tav getting caught upfield and losing the ball -again-was the first step.

The level of negativity IMO is shocking on here.
I’ve got an idea if yous think tav is so bad give a viable replacement for him?
That should go for any player that people want us to get rid of give an example of a player we can afford that’s better.

Frustratedbear - player recruitment is not our job. We don't have the ability to scout Europe or the world for a better right back. Mark Allen does, and it can't be hard to find one. Tav is awful. Truly, truly terrible. People go on about his assists as if that means something, it's really just an indictment of the midfield. He gets far too much of the ball and just because one of his 50 crossing attempts might end up in a goal doesn't excuse the other 49 that hit the first defender.

Maybe Mark Allen doesn’t think he can get better with the budget he has I would say another top centre half is more important than a right back I would even give Flanagan a chance at right back if we are in a game we need too be more defensive.
Just too add different point my only gripe with last night was bringing on Grezda who is the kind of player who likes too run with the ball and that pitch wasn’t any good for him.

I really feel sorry for Tav. he's the whipping boy now. If SG sees him as captain material he must be doing something right but it's got to the stage now when we lose a goal some fans check to see where Tav is before they blame anyone for goal.

I would put a quality centre back, a quality attacking midfield player and a class striker at the top of my list of priorities and would agree with Gerrard that we need better quality rather than more numbers. Personally I would prefer that we avoid bringing in more loan players unless they are significantly better than what we have.

Totally with you bluepete! There's a good few on here who contribute sweet FA, but try and sconse genuine,
rangers supporters, who follow rangers everywhere! I can assure them they're wasting their time, because its certainly water off a ducks back to me! Not at all meaning to be arrogant or big headed, but i without any doubt whatsoever KNOW,

Sharpshooter, I don't criticise us on a daily basis. I'm criticising a terrible player who is never Rangers quality. I still support him on a match day but when our captain constantly let's us down and is constantly to blame for opposition goals and wastes umpteen set pieces a game, as someone who has had a season ticket half his life, I'm entitled to my opinion.

The board have to take there time and get the right man the most important person at any football club is the manager even if it is k50 a week if they panic after last night and get in cheap option in a years time he will be getting sacked with his staff and how much does that cost whoever it is will need at least 3 transfer windows no just to bring in his own players but get rid of most of that squad the problem is will clubs want them and how much will we get for likes of goldson Davies dessers lammers matondo etc to give the manager money to rebuild the only players who should be here in a year to 18 month r butland raskin cantwell to early to judge cufuentes no seen much of sterling and hopefully Devine Lowry macausland etc can improve and break into the team hopefully he looks at the Scottish market sure Scottish players lack some attributes but they also have one's important for our league heart desire will to win never giving up knowing the league and know what is required to play for rangers during walters 2 spells when we were winning trophies for fun he always had a core of Scottish players we missed a trick wi Hickey Doig Ferguson even portious and shankland to name a few who at the time a didn't think were good enough but they would walk into that team sick of getting players from abroad who have no passion for our club who are only here for the wage or players from down south with over inflated fees and wages i have absolutely no idea who i would like as manager to be honest apart from knutsen and lampard haven't even heard of the other names like Jansen and clement it could be Mike Bassett as long as he plays good attacking winning football good man manager at least gives young players a chance has an eye for a player and connects with the fans and appreciates he's the manager of one of the biggest institutions in world football will always believe in our club but don't believe most of this squad are fit to wear our jersey.

Can't agree with people who say we have been shocking since the break . we have been shocking for most of the season only difference now is we aren't getting away with it, wasn't too bothered when gerrard left as i thought we had become predictable when gvb took over we got new manager bounce for the first 2or 3 games since then we have become worse took a penalty to beat Dundee utd and hibs no tempo no high press sitting back when we go in front instead of getting more goals tav scored the day but it looks as if our full backs have been told not to push up when a lot of our goals have previously come from them we constantly pass it back the way when the forward pass is on sorry for the moan lads just raging and frustrated.

Keep believing, I agree that we have been getting away with it a few times, midfield and a faster higher press needed Wednesday. I timed it and when we kicked off the second half we passed it back and forth in our own half for TWO minutes, too much sideways for me the last few games. We did look more direct in gio's first few games, but not lately?

Massive result and performance yesterday myself like a lot of fans was getting frustrated at times in the last few weeks only because at times this season in glimpses we have shown we r a good team and I feel the league is there for us this season if only we can find consistency yesterday apart from more goals was perfect even broony getting megged for the goal was the icing on top of the cake, seen a lot of different options on motm anyone of them could have got it but mine was young Mccrorie can't remember him losing a tackle or given the ball away once and to tav and Andy Halliday absolutely buzzing for they 2 especially yesterday tav splits opinion but he would be one of the first names on my team sheet since he came to our club he gives everything never hides and is never injured he's took some sore ones of them since he's signed so he must have loved that yesterday with our midfield looking well balanced with jack McCrorie and Arfield it's only going to help him both attacking and defending and to Andy Halliday who is one of us can't even begin to imagine how him and his family must have felt last season in the semi getting subbed in first half then to hear them singing his name but they way he has come back from that and performed this season is a real credit to himself thought he was outstanding yesterday and showed he is a good player don't know yet how we never scored of any his corners sorry for the long post guys feeling a bit emotional the day lol happy new year to bluenose everywhere when it comes.

How frustrating was that tonight. I like gerrard and we have to expect him to make mistakes but hopefully learn from them and giving time will do well for us we have improved but some off his decisions I can't understand why he dropped Katic when he was playing well then brings him back tonight when it was clear against Hamilton he's lost confidence young Kent was looking tired in the 2 games prior to his injury so I wasn't surprised he done his hamstring Coulibaly hasn't played well since his injury but keeps getting a game while young mccrorie can't get a chance our defending was horrendous the night we have 2 centre half's 3 midfielders on the bench yet doesn't make a sub till 80 mins he's brought in 6 defenders yet we can't keep a clean sheet when it matters and that's with mcgregor in goals who's been different class.

I thought Kent and Ejaria played well today on a terrible surface and his pass to Arfield was class to help set up the 3rd goal they are improving every game they are young lads who aren’t long in the door so let’s give them a chance but with windlass away and Andy Halliday playing well some people need a new wipping boy I suppose.

Not that bothered if we get Solanke or not I haven’t been that impressed by him when seeing him play and he’s hardly got a good scoring record if he does come Liverpool will expect him to play so does that mean dropping Alfredo who’s looking like he could be massive for us this season got to admit was never sure about Alfredo but on this form he looks unplayable at times would rather have Lafferty.

His biggest mistake was changing the team and formation for killie game after we beat them in December.
