I'm a bit miffed. So the chairman has came out and spoke about the player trading model and how we have failed in that area.
But today we are lined to a CB who turns 31 in sept and a AM who is already 32. These guys have no sell on value at all.
I think we are in a bigger financial mess than most realise. The players who have left so far have been deadwood but we aren't exactly replacing them in the squad . Right now our current squad is much poorer than last season.

What exactly is wrong with some folks? We've replaced the out of contract players with younger hungrier players whilst drastically reducing our wage bill. Then folk moan when none of them are starting xi players or that we need experience. We sign an experienced starting xi player and still folk moan. Jeezo.

Bang on ger88. You need these types to bring on the likes of Nsiala also. I have no problem with this signing i'm quite happy. he's maybe no as run into the ground as Goldson has been in recent years due to number of games even though they are similar age.

Agree on experience.
Looks to me like we are taking a sensible approach there. Either free players or those with modest fees.
We need a balance and have signed what I feel is some real young talent.
I also have no doubt we need to see how CL qualifiers progress as success should mean more money. And as a few have said, the overall window does run till the end of August.

We should only be signing 18 year olds from now on. That’s how every other successful club operate. Come on mate, use your heed. The player trading model will only ever apply to a few players who we feet lucky with, we’re still going to have to sign experienced players. It’s ridiculous to think we can only sign people who have a potential sell on value. Without sounding too much like Hansen, you would never be successful that way.

Propper thier capt so hopefully has something about him if he's better than goldson then that's all I want if we are rebuilding we will not get all quality players in one season nobody can do that anymore need these stop gap type players just much.

Goldson couldn't get a game at Brighton when we signed him. Davies the same at Liverpool.
This guy is the captain of an top Dutch team who by the sounds of it they don't want to lose. At 31 he still has good 3 to 4 years potential in him and if the fee is 2m as reported at fraction of the wages goldsom was on its a no brainer.
Very rarely injured and koppen will be aware of him from his time at psv.
This is very shrewd in my opinion if it goes through.

I agree Kendo 100% we should been signing 30 year old teenagers that way you get them cheap with poss good sell on and 10+ year experiance don't know why other clubs don't do it.

Fellow bears. Gio has been quoted as saying that the current squad is what he will be working with.
If that is the case then I am very disappointed. We have spent money this window but nothing above what we have brought in for players / managers/ europa run/ incoming champs league money.
To not make 2 signings would be criminal imo.

Gio is always going to say that though isn't he kendo. I would be gobsmacked if we don't sign at least one and to be honest I think it will be a marquee type because of the Champions League. Could be wrong but I have a feeling this will be the case and aimed at giving us a huge lift for the old firm game. ?.

We also need to get rid of a few. If we can get shot of Sakala, get him out if someone is willing to sign him. I know it's been reported he wants to stay and fight, but he is dire. If I was Gio, I'd be telling him straight to go. Of course, he is well within his rights to say no, but he is honking and should be nowhere near the team. Hopefully Katic and Kelly go If stories are true. Can't see Kent, Alfie or Roofe going. Hopefully Kent and Morelos sign new contracts.
I, like everyone on here, know absolutely nothing of what's going to happen, but until the deadline passes, I'll hold out a bit of hope we do make more signings. But If we do, they need to be the right ones and not just to make the numbers up. We need quality, not quantity.

You don't know his strategy. We've just qualified for CL and without El Buff at that. We're cash rich but Gio may be waiting for right moment. Its bit short term thinking to spend as soon as you got. If marquee is impending it might be related to current contract. Gio might even be waiting for contracts ending, running down etc.

I don’t know about he release clause but he has supposedly passed a medical and Twente have accepted our offer.
