DM move imminent. My brothers mate is one of their community coaches and after a coaching session at the Sports Village in the city this morning he was told that deal will be done within the next 3 days. Only thing holding it up is AFC officials agreeing a compensation package and

Could mean that they waiting to see what is happening with with O’Neill in n Ireland’s World Cup campaign. Hopefully I’m proved wrong on this if it happens but not convinced on Coleman and O’Neill. Yes they done well at international level but club football is different and their records at club level ain’t exactly great!

6.) 11 Nov 2017 12:19:36
Rangers seem to have poured cold water on that one saying they expect many more applications by the end of next week, maybe tell your brothers mate to stop rabbling!

Personally looking back to last night I think Rangers superior fitness levels got them through. You'd have thought Partick would have been flying in extra time getting the late goal but they were dead on their feet I'm extra time whereas our boys had that little bit extra in extra time and ground our a result. The extra sub rule in extra time definately helped is with herrera causing all sorts of problems in the final 30 including getting the killer goal. Firhill is a difficult place for anyone to go and get a win and I think Pedro's extra days training per week when most clubs just train 5 times paid off

I'm not sure about anyone else's opinion last night but I thought the two Portuguese guys Candeias and Cardoso were excellent last night. Bruno was also commanding. I know it was just dunfermline and not to get carried away but these guys excite me. Candeias especially looks a threat on the right. As for Morellos a good 90 mins under his belt. But I think he still needs to work on his sharpness. He got two but he should have had 4 or 5. It's very pleasing that the only thing I can be critical of was the fact he 'only' got two but for me, the goal opportunities will not be as frequent against tougher opposition including Hibs this weekend and he still looks a bit off the pace for me and lacking in sharpness. A very pleasing night overall and I'm sure said sharpness will come with more games.

Nicolas came out in the Daily Rag today saying if Caixinha is to become new manager he thinks the impatientness of the Rangers fans will not allow him the time needed to turn things around. I don't know if I speak for all Rangers fans but I certainly am not expecting to win the league next year. I realise there is a massive financial gulf between the teams right now. And my number 1 aim is to stop them winning 10 in a row. We have 3 seasons to do that. What I do expect of the new manager is to assemble a team capable of beating every other team in this league and giving them a good run for theIr money next year. If we can reduce the deficit from 30 odd points which is absolutely unacceptable to under 10 and maybe beat them at home twice next season then I'll be happy. So for Nicolas to shoot his dirty mouth off in that rag and belittle our fans for being delusional about the current state of play really riled me up and just wanted to know what the feeling was towards this from my fellow bears on here.

Almost as bad as Sutton and his comments. Maybe they are getting scared. May I just add my thoughts on Tommy Gemmell's passing this week. I played against him as an amateur when he was about 40 years old in a Sunday morning football game. Scary! Great, attacking left back though.

2.) 03 Mar 2017 20:16:27
Gemmell was a tremendous player. The original wing back. Left back but right footed. The guy was a machine.

To be honest I don't think any of the guys on our shortlist including de boer would be in Leicesters thoughts. They need someone whos been there and done this relegation battle fighting for every point fighting for your lives sort of manager. They just want to stay up. I think dicanio or dick advocaat

A natural reaction to critisim is to go out and prove your doubters wrong surely. I don't even think Keirnan and Halliday are that bad. They just keep making the same mistakes over and over and over again. They say a coo will only lick an electric fence once and then remember how much it hurt first time and never do it again. Now I'm not suggesting for a minute that these boys have the same intellect as a coo but when you hurt yourself and your team and the tens of thousands of supporters who canny wait for the weekend to come round to see their team play (altough that has been less of a problem for me lately) and you keep making the same mistakes over and over (getting caught in possession 30 years from your own goal to name but one) you really have to question the mentality of these boys. Surely your first thought when you get the ball in that area (Halliday your the holding midfielder this is your domain) surely the only thing in your head at that moment is keep the effing ball. The opposition players recognise me as a weak link so their going to be right into me in a matter of seconds "DO NOT LOSE THE BALL" turn and go look for options ahead or on the wings
Failing that put it back to your goalkeeper. But no, he's facing his own goal, his touch is awful, he turns slower than the titanic the opposition are onto him

Halliday is not a Holding Midfield player and shouldn't be deployed in that area. Either he plays further up the park or if he is not good enough for that role then he should be now there near the team.

The fault, that he plays in that role and continues in that role despite being at fault for goals week in, week out, is not his. It is the fault of management!

What I would criticise him for, (since he is supposedly a died in the wool bluenose), is his lack of commitment, his lack of fight and his lack of guile. Indeed I reckon that LVB hit the nail on the head when he questioned his mentality. He is not, for me, the brightest of people. In the recent Celtic game, with Brown booked early on and controlling the midfield, someone with a bit of intelligence would have had the guile to get him a second booking and a red card!

As for Kiernan, for a big guy he sure lacks fight and solidity. He should be commanding that penalty box in the air, he should be attacking and winning every ball in the air, but then if the coaching staff don't coach you to play the ball in the air what chance do you have!

2.) 23 Feb 2017 17:44:52
Tomusa, Halliday has been playing in this so-called unfamiliar position for the best part of two seasons so there is no excuse for his ineptitude.

3.) 24 Feb 2017 13:55:43
I agree with most of what you are saying about Halliday. However he isn't slow at all. Remember he was a winger in a past life and even in recent games I remember him outpacing midfielders to bring the ball forward. His main problem as far as I can see is that he is far too casual in possession and often not aware of players around him. I think he is playing with a winger's mentality, ie if he loses possession in a forward area the repercussions are often not serious.

If he loses possession in front of the defence it often causes big problems. And yet I've seen him play a blinder in odd games (the semi final last year for example) but it very rarely happens now. As you say opposing players can predict what he is going to do and they close tight on him. And you are right about it being of paramount importance that the ball is not lost in his area of the field. I genuinely think he has still not grasped the concept. It's so frustrating as I think there is a very decent player in there.

4.) 24 Feb 2017 18:32:43
Could someone enlighten me as to where is the natural preferred position of Andy halliday?

We need to keep Senderos as far from that starting 11 as we possibly can. I was firmly on the give the gut a chance brigade but I have seen absolutely nothing from him to suggest he's capable of doing a decent job for us. I'd much rather have Wilson or even young Bates. Through him in to the Lions den see what he's made of but no, Senderos will be ripped to shreds by their forwards if he plays mark my words.
