The wave of emotion that clouded over Ibrox today was almost tangible. From optimism to hope, then frustration to anger and finally despair. Very poor display with only Candelas, Kent, Kamara and Fodringham getting pass marks. The sterile, uncreative displays have been evident all season- from the home game against UFA to today's game, with a few notable exceptions, and when Morelos is not there to bully opposition defenders and create opportunities from nothing (and to a lesser degree Arfield who's looking for the loose balls usually created by Morelos efforts) then we are a very ordinary team with a defensively minded midfield.

Hope I'm wrong but Davis and Defoe look finished to me and Barasic, Middleton, Grezda and a few others don't appear to be able to cope with a vocal 50000 Rangers crowd where 2 bad passes means the crowd on your back - and consequently due to a lack of confidence they stop make Ng runs, play the easy ball-, usually backwards or sideways and generally don't get involved in the game.

Very good post LB. I agree with what you said except Middleton . I think he has potential. SG signings have been very poor to say the least. He's playing the same formation he plays with Morelos in the team. Defoe is not that type of player and never will be. A blind man can see that. He has been backed and been given money. SG is out his depth and is clueless with tactics. Honestly he won't take us forward. Chops and changes the team and plays people who don't deserve to be there. Worrall and barasic are bombscares. I also stated that McCrorie is not ready for the first team. Defoe and Davis are poor signings. Good in there day but not now. I know we can't keep changing managers but SG should never have got the job to begin with. We should have hired and still have a chance to get Stevie Clarke. I want SG to do well but the bottom line is he doesn't have it as a manager at this level.

2.) 17 Feb 2019 09:32:55
Well if candeias latest performance is deemed passable we have let our expectations drop like a lead balloon.

3.) 17 Feb 2019 09:33:23
Get a grip of yourselves.

4.) 17 Feb 2019 12:20:01
Care to explain what Candaeis did to earn pass marks.
If running about at full pelt for 80 minutes warrants pass marks, then God help us.

5.) 17 Feb 2019 12:37:50
Candaes was dreadful yesterday, this squad not good enough o win league.

6.) 17 Feb 2019 14:23:05
Think some need to calm down a bit. Mccrorie has been decent this season. Middleton is just a young lad, barsic was poor yesterday but is our best left back. Candias is either great or piss poor, he's very inconsistent. I think we all got a bit carried away with signing Defoe and Davis. Yesterday performance wasn't good enough but we have improved on last season. I think we'll get 2nd spot.

7.) 17 Feb 2019 14:51:52
We're sitting clear in 2nd, had a good run in Europe and are still in Scottish cup but because we had a poor game against st jonstone (which we drew) As1974 thinks SG is sh*te and out of depth. SG has made mistakes and is still learning as a manager. Stevie Clarke is a good manager but am pretty sure he's a shoe-in for the c*ltic job when Brenda leaves for some midtable team in england.

8.) 17 Feb 2019 15:18:28
Is clear 2nd acceptable now?

9.) 17 Feb 2019 15:24:19
McCrorie isn’t ready for the team 😂😂 STOPPED reading after that NONSENSE.

10.) 17 Feb 2019 15:30:11
Barisic is only our best left back on paper. Andy Halliday has produced far better and more gutsy displays on the pitch. He can also cross the ball.

11.) 17 Feb 2019 16:21:49
I want rangers to win the league but considering the mess of a season we had last season clear 2nd is an improvement. Halliday is a trier, no doubt about that but I think we'll have to agree to disagree if you think he's our best left back.

12.) 17 Feb 2019 16:27:24
Majority of you got a reality check yesterday we are not that good yet
Constantly building yourselves up for a fall team building takes time🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔.

13.) 17 Feb 2019 16:34:44
I thought Candelas at least looked for the ball and made the runs. Bad miss I agree but in my opinion Barasic and a few others did not want the ball and when they got it they passed it back or sideways. Also, for the, Lafferty critics, he did more in the short time he was on than Defoe did all game.

14.) 17 Feb 2019 17:06:43
Agree re Lafferty. He has become an easy target
How many people genuinely thought SG would win league in first year, he inherited a shambles
My view is it’s draws like yesterday that is our Achilles heal.
Aberdeen Dundee Motherwell Hibs twice.

15.) 17 Feb 2019 17:55:20
SG is a young manager he will make mistakes, so does everybody who does anything, I believe 2 of his biggest mistakes have been trying to please the fans. i. e. Lafferty ( which I predicted and, breaks my heart to say it) Davis my fav. Rangers player, he's not even a shadow of his former self. I think his treatment of Katic has been poor too.
He brought in a lot of players and we have had some stellar performances but far too many lacklustre or downright abysmal like yesterday. Hopefully we can sign Kent (permanent) I think he has more chance of being struck twice in the same place than getting into the current Liverpool team. Perhaps the Scouse ED. could kindly give us his views. and 3 more ( of similar or better) and really press next year. The problem will be getting rid of the dead wood, thankfully 4 are loanees.

Still heads up and I'll be back for more next week.

{Ed001's Note - Kent is very unlikely to get a place in the first team next season, so I would think there is a chance of him leaving. Depends a lot on the lad himself, and if he is happy to continue to be farmed out or wants to go and prove himself away from Liverpool on a permanent basis. Will he want to walk away from the comfort and security of the money and support and take a chance?}

16.) 17 Feb 2019 18:17:05
@blueberry. We are a clear second? So your happy with second eh? No ambition man.
This is not a knee jerk reaction. Celtic aren't even that good and are a class above us. I am sick of hearing SG is a young manager and will learn. Well he's not learning. If he can't see Defoe can't play in that role like Morelos he's blind. Why is he playing Worral when he's a passenger. Look at his signings. Couibally, grezda, Worrall (loan) Ojaria, (spelling) . I could go on. How many have improved under our manager? Apart from Kent and shagger his signings are total pants! I want him to do well but wake up man. On wed go 4-4-2 with lafftery up top with Defoe. I am saying McCrorie isint ready for the first team. The boy should have gone out on loan. Look at our midfield. It's dire. Rangers fans take the blue tinted glasses off and stop kidding yourselfs on.

17.) 17 Feb 2019 18:40:41
Clear second and within 6 points of celtic and win cup for me would be decent season. I would be expecting to win league and at least 1 cup next year with group stages in Europe too. We are rebuilding under yet another manager. SG is young for a manager and still learning but I'm hoping we kick on next season. Think jones will make a difference with his more direct approach.

18.) 17 Feb 2019 18:49:01
@Belkshill lad. Win the league within a year? We will be lucky to win on Wednesday trust me. Morelos will be away in the summer. I honestly can't see a future with Gerrard as a manager. Hope he proves me wrong.

19.) 17 Feb 2019 18:51:15
No I am not happy with 2nd, as I explained in an earlier post. No I don't understand why Worrell gets a game ahead of katic. I also don't like signing so many loans. I also think SG takes to long to change things in a match. We beat c*ltic with (in your opinion) sh*te midfield. What we have lacked all season is consistency. We're much better of than we where last season. So we've improved.

20.) 17 Feb 2019 19:24:19
Magregor, Goldson, Katic, Arfeild, Kent are all decent signings Grezda, Worrall, Couibaly, Barisic, McAuley, Davis are all terrible signings I think the jury’s still out on the likes of Lafferty, Defoe, Kamara, Flanagan, Pollster but it’s Gerrards tactics that worry me he expects to change the players and formation and still expects results top managers know there best 11 and start them or as close to as possible he seems like he’s trying to accommodate some of these guys with his fingers crossed hoping they play well.

21.) 17 Feb 2019 19:24:50
Candelas was crap yesterday and I thought lafferty has got to play before Defoe he should not have dropped jack or Halliday or artfeild the guy kamara had a good game and last of all big Wes had a good game I know we will never surrender to them I watch the other mob today and for brown to be giving a yellow card with should have be a straight red is unreal.

22.) 18 Feb 2019 08:35:04
McCrorie isn’t ready for the team 😂😂 What planet are you visiting earth from 😂😂😂.

23.) 18 Feb 2019 15:29:12
So AS who u want as manager.

24.) 18 Feb 2019 15:33:25
Our right side is terrible and not good enough to win the league. Sure Candeias runs about and puts in a good shift but I would have thought that was a given when putting on a rangers shirt. Between him and Tav (who is not a leader of men) their delivery is appalling.
The amount of balls put in with a positive return is very poor.
Our left has far more potential and I'd be more than happy to stay with Kent and Barasic (who will only improve)
Wasn't overly keen on bringing Defoe or Davis back so I'm not at all surprised that they haven't settled well. The type of game we play we need a powerful striker. The only way Defoe will work is playing either 4-4-2 or a diamond and pushing threaded balls through.
Defense for me would be goldston and Katic. Middle of park would be jack and arfield and McCrorie as sitter.
Only other option is to try 3-5-2 again and that probably would suit us better than any other formation.
I did not expect to win league this season but we are making that shower of rubbish look good.

25.) 18 Feb 2019 21:30:21
AS, you're talking pish man. In defence of our manager.

The team that you're slating is the team that easily put celtic to the sword. The very same manager, Worrall mccrorie and candieas.

No manager gets every signing right and when you have to make 17 in and another batch out, your chances are hindered. I still think he has more success than failures.

Also, we dabble in loans, freebies and up to £2m transfers. Again, chances of success diminish.

As to improvement of players, tav, halliday, mccrorie, Jack, candieas and morelos have all improved under his coaching. Whether they've improved enough we'll find out.

Consistency is our biggest problem and frustration, as they have proved they can hit a level. However, SG will learn who he can rely on week in week out.

26.) 19 Feb 2019 23:37:11
It is early days for Grezda and Barisic and some players take longer than others to settle in. I remain hopeful that both will become good players for us. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for Lafferty and Davis. Both are past their silly date and are fast becoming a liability! We will need to move players on in the summer and we will need to bring in three or four significantly better players than we have now. Assuming Morelos goes we will need to spend serious money on a replacement and hopefully Allen is already looking overseas for players that will seriously make a difference.

29 Dec 2018 21:00:35
Andy H put his body on the Line for the jersey today, and Tav was immense. The mhankies were there for the taking today - how I pray for a creative midfielder and someone to play off Alfredo because if we play with that intensity in every game we could win the league.

Lanzarote blue

1.) 29 Dec 2018 21:23:58
Andy Halliday deserves a lot of credit but the whole team were at it today and I think the management team deserve a lot of credit Gerrard was starting to get a bit of stick on here recently but the whole team were on point today and it’s down to him. Who wouldn’t have taken a decent run in Europe and been joint top at new year at the start of the season? 3 top signings in January and we can win it #55 anyone know any dado prso type players on the market I loved that person 😃.

2.) 29 Dec 2018 22:05:17
We won't get three top signings in January, highlandbear, it's not the market for top signings. We'll possibly get Davis and maybe one other loan player and with Dorrans and Murphy coming back that might pretty well be it, and I'd be happy to keep a decent war chest for the summer when we'll make our most important signings. This window will be all about shipping players out and saving their wages, maybe up to £100k a week if we manage to dump all the dross who are either on loan or not featuring any more.

3.) 30 Dec 2018 00:06:14
Halliday had a cracking game but for me Arfield was the best player on the park! Brown has dominated us and set the tempo time and time again and today he met his match and that was crucial.

4.) 30 Dec 2018 00:51:55
Tbh lads thought Halliday played amazing! Tav was superb Arfield. McCrorie. n Jack were different class! Am from Greenock heavy Timvile but al tell yous this there no saying much the nyt! 😂1-0 going on 8-0! Chuffed to .! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧.

5.) 30 Dec 2018 08:59:44
agree stuarty - hard to single anyone out as every single player stood up today and wore the jersey with pride

yes tav was superb, mcrorie immense, halliday had an absl blinder, both cntr halves and fredo put in huge shifts but i agree scotty arfield was a collosus

he went toe to toe with lego muncher and matched him
every header, kick, run, elbow and snarl - totally bossed him.

6.) 30 Dec 2018 10:14:52
Broony was totally bossed by scotty arfield yesterday, of that there's little doubt. Gives me great pleasure in saying scott brown looked his age yesterday against a very resurgent rangers midfield! He's most definitely had his day and is going back the way! I revelled in the knowledge that brown got his comeuppance yesterday, as the tremendous arfield walked all over him! Broony looked rather ordinary and leggy yesterday! Good riddance to an importer who had it easy for far too long and his level was only scottish football! Very overrated player, i always thought!

7.) 30 Dec 2018 10:50:07
Totally agree supercooper
If ever a game will be remembered as a catalyst for ending Browns career it will be yesterday.

Going into January it’s quite clear what areas we need to strengthen and it will only take one or two quality players
There was so much talk in the press by ex Celtic players saying we need to spend millions and millions to catch them
If you ask me it’s that kit that need to spend big as their team is regressing.
Their defence wouldn’t have looked out of place in the highland league yesterday when they were out under pressu (granted they were missing Tearney)
By the end of the season three of their back line will probably be gone and need replaced
Big pressure on Rodgers to get signings right in the next two windows and he has a record of signing a few rubbish players

I really hope other teams see from yesterday what happens to the puddle drinkers when you don’t sit in but get right up in their faces and put pressure on them

Hearts, Hibs and ourselves have now done it and tore them apart.

8.) 30 Dec 2018 12:00:10
Fraser52 leave the Highland League out of it, sure there are some rubbish defenders in it but they are not as bad as that lot yesterday LOL.

9.) 30 Dec 2018 13:53:01
Scott Brown certainly outthought, outfought and outplayed yesterday. It was great to see him being knocked about the way he has been dishing it out for years. Time to move on now, nothing won and a single emphatic win against Celtic although enjoyable means very little until we start winning trophies.

10.) 30 Dec 2018 14:16:19
Scott Brown was very effective at what he done. I agree his legs are gone now and he’ll be off soon enough. Thought he was decent in that role.

11.) 30 Dec 2018 19:06:49
Supercooper bit over the top mate.

Broony has been a loyal servant to us and done us proud. Its players like him who don't chase the riches of EPL etc and provide something special to both sides of old firm. In his case being a simple no frills effective midfield ball winner. Paul Gascoigne played for yous at perhaps his peak when he could of played much higher level like Broony.

Think this is him declining now, worst game i saw him play in. Although Lustig etc were not far behind. Looks like he is off to Australia.

Shankland scored another quality goal last night- he may not be the quickest however his football brain is quicker than most defenders. We need to get him signed this summer.

Lanzarote blue

1.) 08 Feb 2024 23:35:59
Window has only been shut one week is that us back onto the Shankland posts, let's leave it for Koppen and Clement in choosing out cf or any players in general, think Koppen could do very well for us, he looks in different markets, bought some young boys in and the buying club has made a big fee when selling on just hope he continues this at Rangers.

2.) 09 Feb 2024 00:00:23
Miovski 100% would be a far better option. Also has youth on his side compared to shankland.

3.) 09 Feb 2024 00:09:27
Spfl page on facebook have just shared his 1st goal and his last goal (50th) and would say he is now w stone heavier. Kinda bit like boydy now. Heavy slow but will get you a goal. Also surprised he's only just scored 50 league goal. Late bloomer defo.

4.) 09 Feb 2024 00:29:03
Something I said last season to paul86 but I think miovski will be priced out of a move to rangers and celtic now lower prem or higher championship have got to be watching as well as so. E decent European clubs I'm sure.

5.) 09 Feb 2024 00:56:56
Never going to happen, but for sure the boy Is a predator. Agree paul definitely late bloomer, just seems to have all came together for him, brilliant goal.
Lanzarote would have loved us to get him but let's be honest, he wouldn't fit in to what pc is building, definitely not built to press from the front, which is a shame as I really like him.

6.) 09 Feb 2024 01:31:38
Miovski will go for close to 10 million and there’s no danger we’re paying that.
The bonus of Shankland is he’s homegrown. We need more Scottish players in the team because the like of McGlaughlin, McRorie, Jack, and Wright will all be gone in the summer.

7.) 09 Feb 2024 02:07:33
Miovski goes for 10m i'm a german. Good player bur 5m will get him. Agree on shankland for 2m in summer ro replace roofe.

8.) 09 Feb 2024 03:34:12
I want denkey. Think he’ll be a superstar and we’ll be lucky to have him 2 seasons.

If we can’t get him I’d be over the moon with miovski z

Guys class and if Danilo and dessers lammers and Roofe and Kent and so on are worth their fees then surely he’s worth £4/ 5m?

9.) 09 Feb 2024 03:54:47
Aberdeen won't have european football so they won't be able to hold clubs to ramsom for miovski. 5mill he will be away.

10.) 09 Feb 2024 04:03:32
Correct paul that’s who I would go for if we could get him not shanks.

Rangers will not sign shanks we didn’t in January and we won’t in summer.

11.) 09 Feb 2024 05:02:08
I agree with both paul and storm that for the full package i'd prefer us to sign miovski over shankland and i like and rate shankland but miovski better value all round for me ?I hope we sign either bojan miovski or kevin denkey as our new no.1 striker for next season ?I would be very happy with either of them ?.

12.) 09 Feb 2024 07:15:44
Honestly sick hearing about Shankland, he's that good no bids were received at Hearts. Jeez let it go. Probably get better for the silly money they're asking for.

13.) 09 Feb 2024 07:23:22
You have to remember, MyStar, that a lot of posters have chucked the league when we didn't sign Shankland or another striker in the January window. ?
Even though since the window opened we have:-
Played 6, Won 6, Scored 16, Conceded 3
Who else is panicking? ?.

14.) 09 Feb 2024 07:56:41
Warnock's loves him, he will use his contacts down south and get a pretty penny for him, with a bit of 'commission 'for him possibly.

15.) 09 Feb 2024 09:01:50
Blue 89 McLaughlin not classed as Scottish.

16.) 09 Feb 2024 09:22:34
Hopefully Dessers is punted in the summer, can't handle watching him anymore.

17.) 09 Feb 2024 09:35:29
No chance Aberdeen get anywhere near 10m for miovsky, he's a good striker but not that good.

18.) 09 Feb 2024 09:37:55
I prefer Miovski and think that although he is not as suited to what we face in Scotland (low block) he would be ideal in Europe and against teams who come out against us.

It is all about horses for courses and having a good mix so that you can adjust to any given opponent. The problem under SG and MB was there was only one plan under the first and we are still trying to work out if there was any under the second.

PC is a smart manager who knows how and when to change things and it is a joy to behold!

19.) 09 Feb 2024 12:09:33
Fed up hearing about Shankland on here! The window is shut!
The only striker we should be looking at is Miovski. Younger, faster and will score for fun.

20.) 09 Feb 2024 12:39:02
Sign both miovski summer shankland Christmas.

21.) 09 Feb 2024 13:22:53
6 games after window we're getting told you so posts ??? it's like being back at school in here at times.

22.) 09 Feb 2024 13:40:42
I'd much rather be in the positive camp after 6 games than the 'chucked the league' version?
Some times it's better leaving the adults to get on with it. ?.

23.) 09 Feb 2024 14:00:10
Dessers should have been replaced in that window.

24.) 09 Feb 2024 14:21:54
Shankland half price in summer and with us playing almost every midweek once season gets started he could be no brainer for our squad, looking forward too the summer when the pages are filled with the Shankland argument again lol.

25.) 09 Feb 2024 14:22:45
Think Silva will be big player for us between now and end of season. Will supply his share of goals, so missing out on so called traditional centre forward will not stop us winning league, as a lot of people said will happen as we did not sign Shanklin, good luck to Shanklin he done right thing staying at Hearts if he wants to go to euros.

26.) 09 Feb 2024 14:48:09
Danilo will be our 9 next year, Miosvski miles better value than Shanks tho.

27.) 09 Feb 2024 14:53:28
Four rangers managers three directors of football. Various recruitment say no.
Ther has to be something in it

Why do English championship show no interest whatsoever.

28.) 09 Feb 2024 14:54:41
Silva/ coldo what has this post got to do with dessers?

Correct MpH everything was doom an gloom because we didn’t sign shanks.

Miovski will go for more than 5 million unless he is going into last year of his contract.

29.) 09 Feb 2024 16:19:21
Stormtrooper what's my post got to do with you? Do you see were this is going?

30.) 09 Feb 2024 16:56:30
As why look at miovski the window is shut.

31.) 09 Feb 2024 17:09:36
Desssers has been far better than folk give him credit for its strange than even on our good run fans want to attack some players.

32.) 09 Feb 2024 19:54:05
Coldo, dessers was not in this post but you can’t help yourself with the bs it was the same with Alfredo and now it’s dessers have a day off. This is the longest you have lasted with a name in over a year ?.

Ps if you are going to post at least post on the subject of the actually post instead of your constant drivel ?.

33.) 09 Feb 2024 22:40:07
I think Shankland at 1.5 m in summer is a good move, but don't think it'll happen now. Denkey all day long for me, believe we were close to getting him in transfer window there. Think miovski will go down south for 6-7m.

34.) 10 Feb 2024 11:28:58
Denkey would be a cracking signing.

26 Feb 2023 10:36:45
Holidaying on neighbouring island of Tenerife and met couple of bluenoses in bar last night, so agreed to meet up today in irish bar to watch game. Nervous about our defence coping although believe we can control midfield. 2-1.

Lanzarote blue

1.) 26 Feb 2023 10:51:13
Can't help feel nervous they have a full fit squad to choose from well prob need to wait until this morning b4 MB can select his team with doubts over 3/ 4.

25 Aug 2022 09:30:14
Congratulations to Gio- took 2 major decisions in dropping Morelos and starting Kamara, and would have been slaughtered on this site had he lost so well done- Kamara was back to his best, making himself available for pass and his ball retention was superb.

Lanzarote blue

1.) 25 Aug 2022 09:51:58
Glen was brilliant last night.

06 May 2022 16:06:23
I just hope we can hold onto Goldson. he's not perfect but his desire to win and leadership skills are required - his long range passing is also improving.

Lanzarote blue

1.) 06 May 2022 19:02:20
His long range passing was always a very good attribute of goldson's 👌.

23 Aug 2020 12:02:40
Turnbull at Motherwell back playing well after injury- Could do a turn for us if we snap him up before the Celtic.

Lanzarote blue

1.) 23 Aug 2020 16:36:25
Really? What has he got that we need?

2.) 23 Aug 2020 22:32:14
Nothing!

3.) 23 Aug 2020 23:52:02
Cracking player when fit and on his game, could be the quality back up to Aribo we will need when Aribo is missing good scoring record and loves a goal from outside the box which is something we are missing. Would eventually replace Aribo when he inevitably goes to epl. Pity he’s a Tim and will go to them. Great young player and also rate young Campbell beside him.

Carlyle, I can't see the logic in any club agreeing to an obligation to buy cifuentes whilst we cover half his wages? Doesn't make commercial sense for a guy who's failed at his last 2 clubs. Option to purchase seems far more likely.
