A lot of different opinions on who should be manager now or the summer etc, maybe just me but listening to Murty in the presser yesterday he handles himself really well. Impressed with the way he comes across. If he gets the right result against Dundee and the players are happy and play well I really don't see why he shouldn't just finish this season for us and start fresh in the summer which would make more sense to me. Of course this is yet to be seen how we play tomorrow which is what he is going to get judged on but seems like he could be a capable interm until the end of the season.

Anyone think Roy Hodgson would be a good manager/ DOF

2.) 18 Feb 2017 14:31:31
What about Roy Hodgson as DOF and Gary Neville as head coach would have good contacts between them

3.) 18 Feb 2017 15:31:24
Hodgson would be a disaster!

4.) 18 Feb 2017 15:52:24
Why do think hodgdon would be a disaster

5.) 18 Feb 2017 19:15:00
No way definitely not hodgson that would be terrible

6.) 19 Feb 2017 10:20:47
The only chance of investment is for King to go on dragons den.
I can just see his pitch.
Am here today to ask for a £5 million investment for 5% of my company.
Questions.
What's your valuation of the club?
What's your net profit for the year?
Where can you see the company in 5 years?
What profit do you make from selling shirts?
And the questions just keep coming.
And I think you know their answer.
AM OUT

A lot of chat after the old firm so I might as well put my 2 pence in.

Disappointing in the end as we took them by surprise and showed in the first 30 mins that when Celtic are under the cosh their defence can look as suspect as any. Sviatchencko got away with murder a couple of times. For some reason we can't keep that type of performance up which is a real shame but Celtic upped their game after the equaliser and deservedly won. We had a couple of chances to possibly nick a draw but it's unacceptable how our heads go down after conceding.

Tav is seriously off form or out of his depth. He needs the McKay treatment. Hodson all day long should have played. As we all know he is a much better defender but attacking wise he is pretty solid and realiable.

Halliday and Holt don't have the technical ability to control a mid field. Neither can read a game well, neither has a good passing range or can tackle. Trying hard can only get you so far. Windass wasn't much better he hid from the occasion apart from his role in the goal.

Foderingham is maturing into a really good solid keeper, McKay was superb as well as Miller but it's not enough only having 3 players actually looking like they wanted to win the game.

For me, again, the game was screaming out for someone like O'Halloran who would have been the perfect outball. Celtic found it hard to contain McKay running at them at times so he would have made life twice as difficult with his direct approach. Could have been different if it was him running clean through on goal from those couple of chances Waghorn and Forrester had in the 2nd half. The manager must know something we don't.

Hope to see some improvement up front after the winter break and hopefully we can bring in a couple of the right players we need.

Hope you all had a good new year. Onwards and upwards guys.

Your summation of Halliday and Holt is pretty accurate. Halliday totally lacks guile and on Saturday there was little positive to say about his game.

We must sign a quality midfield player in January to replace Halliday since there is clearly no guarantees that Crooks and Rossiter will be fit any time soon.

2.) 02 Jan 2017 20:12:10
Crooks is fit Tom just isn't getting played.

3.) 02 Jan 2017 20:35:37
I agree with most of it Keven lad although thought windlass had a good game.

4.) 03 Jan 2017 00:04:58
Windass was worse than awful and should have been hooked long before he did. Clearly didn't fancy it and didn't want to get involved.

5.) 03 Jan 2017 01:05:02
Bit harsh stewie he was best of our midfielders, he has abit of maturing to do and would benefit massively from an experienced anchorman but on the ball he is tidy! Agree with most of your post leven lad and the reason for our heads dropping is experience and leadership were carrying too many players, yes we need to sign quality but I belive we must sign experience and that doesn't mean 34 year olds just guys who have won something played at a decent level!

6.) 03 Jan 2017 20:59:28
Tom usa your 100% right also Kieran is an accident waiting to happen, and Wilson always ball watches, neither one is good enough.

29 Dec 2016 11:10:37
A lot of people disappointed last night and rightly so. Should have been a comfortable win. Although, I would say Kiernan being a liability is slightly harsh. It's easy for us fans so say that was the reason we drew the game but the defence itself does not make as many mistakes as before and because it's such a stand out mistake it's easy to blame Keirnan. I honestly think the front line gets away with murder, constantly make the wrong decisions in attack, pass when they should shoot, shoot when they should pass. they get off too lightly and that's what really does cost us. The amount of times Garner was trotting around the edge of the box instead of bursting a gut to gamble in the middle was frightening, not to
mention how poor his finishing has been. McKay was the only one looking like he was really wanting to make something happen it's not good enough.

Halliday a passenger again.

1.) 29 Dec 2016 11:17:07
I agree leven, I think I remember 3 times in the 1st half the ball was put across the face of goal and not only did we not have anyone there to knock it into the net we had nobody even in the 6 yard box, people slate Mackey for not getting by people and crossing the ball,3 times 1st half it happened and nobody was there!

2.) 29 Dec 2016 12:41:41
Spot on mate, that's our problem, we just don't score enough goals, and goals win games.

3.) 29 Dec 2016 12:53:12
Nah. For me Kiernan is a man down and I don't think he'd get a game under another manager. It's not one mistake. It's been a catalogue of mistakes.

He has no positional awareness, he appears completely unaware of other players around him, and for a big lad he is beaten in the air far too often.

I think a lot of the time the players ahead of him play more cautiously because they know that if they make any mistakes they can't rely on him to clear up.

Just look at yesterday's game. Crusing the game and playing well until Kiernan put his stamp on the game. They whole mind set changed after his howler. He puts doubt in the minds of the team mates around him.

4.) 29 Dec 2016 16:01:15
Kiernan shifts his body slightly, passes it down the flank as required, does not play a suicide pass across his own goal, Rangers win 1-0.

5.) 29 Dec 2016 16:27:28
The system that MW insists on playing means there is no place for an out and out striker. If you add to that that the ball must be played out from the back at all times then this leads to the kind of result we had last night. The annoying point in all this we know he will never change. What role did Miller have last night, Garner was missing from the penalty area most of the night. We were 1.0 up and playing well and then lose a silly goal and that removed our momentum. celtic are not brilliant but have the momentum, let's score first on Saturday and see what they are made of.

6.) 29 Dec 2016 11:56:51
Haliday tav ohal should never be near the team.

7.) 29 Dec 2016 17:11:46
Rob Kiernan has sold the jersey more times than Sports Direct
a complete liability and with Tav beside him anything can happen but midfield and Halliday in particular has been shocking and apart from beating Killie Hearts and Aberdeen the
midfield whoever has played has been sub standard, It's difficult to watch week after week the same drivel and again big Crooks must be wondering if he made a big mistake coming to Ibrox, or has Warbs actually adopted Halliday because he seems to be undroppable.

29 Aug 2016 12:33:28
There has been a lot of team suggestions for the upcoming old film game and a lot I agree and disagree with.

One thing I would take a punt on that not many have mentioned is MOH. I would maybe try him on the left this time, he has the legs over Lustig who is not the quickest and could be an ace up our sleeve for an out ball. He has his critics and it's a risk but could work. McKay as been pretty rotten lately but him or Forrester for me would be on the right this game as they would put a lot of work in to cover Teirney's runs.

I think Rossiter and Barton will start so depends on who is fit for the attacking berth. Hopefully it's Holt or Windass. Celtic will come flying at us like a bull out a gate so I hope we step up and make a good account of ourselves. Can't be any worse than what we have seen so far this season.

1.) 29 Aug 2016 13:01:51
I think that Warburton has made a major mistake in the transfer market this summer by not signing players with SPFL experience. None of the signings bar 1 have any experience in the league. We could have easily got both Hemmings and Stewart for the same price we got Garner. Both these players have top flight experience and have done well.

2.) 29 Aug 2016 13:15:04
wes
Tav kiernan Wilson wallace
Barton rossiter
halliday

mckay garner/ waghorn ohalloran

that's the team I would play, hopefully holt is back so that we have the option to bring him or kranjcar on to try and create more than what halliday will offer. I reckon that's the team bar Miller for ohalloran.

3.) 29 Aug 2016 13:23:42
mckay looks like the only player able to create anything.

4.) 29 Aug 2016 13:29:34
Itl be interesting, we are probably going to play counter attacking so moh might be the answer as an outlet.

5.) 29 Aug 2016 13:31:01
Yes Levenlad I agree, I would play him to back up a sole striker, probably Miller, with Garner on the bench. I would play Hodson at right back with Tavernier in right mid field, with Forrester in left mid field. Wallace would keep his place, but the central defence is a concern and central midfield would be decided in conjunction with central defence pairing. Ideally, we would have Senderos and Wilson and I would then play Rossiter and Holt, if fit [ Barton or Halliday, otherwise. ]
We must have Tavernier's flair going forward, while keeping the defence solid.

6.) 29 Aug 2016 13:45:55
M8 I think the midfield 3 of barton rossiter and halliday is ineffective they are 2 similar. I think the 3 should be windass rossiter and forrester, we need energy in the middle of the park for our high tempo game, I think so far this season that is what's wrong we have been very slow in the middle of the park.

7.) 29 Aug 2016 14:28:49
MW hasn't changed his tactics since he joined the club- aside from a 45minute go at a back 3 (which was swiftly abandoned and never repeated) .

Aside from that the closest he has came to changing tactics was playing ball as a holding midfielder.

So I think our approach at Celtic park will be the same 4-3-3 and we will try to dominate possession. Wether it will work is another matter.

8.) 29 Aug 2016 16:07:57
I don't think the midfield 3 is great either but I think that's what will play, halliday will cover every inch of grass and has proved he is more than a match for broony and the bandits.

9.) 29 Aug 2016 17:03:03
I agree with you cee halliday was more than a match for brown and he gives his all, I just feel we need the likes of windass, forrester or even holt in there to put teams on the back foot we have been predictable and slow so far allowing teams to get men behind the ball.

Warburton signing a contact extension till 2019. The real singing of this summer, absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to see what this season brings!

Leven Lad

1.) 12 Jul 2016 08:10:18
In total agreement there leven lad, the most important figure at any football club is the manager, warbs and big davie signing their new contracts is without doubt the best signings this summer, I'm totally ecstatic with this wonderful news as our management team are imo brilliant! I said on here when warburton and big davie weir became our management team over a year ago now that the way they work and their plans for our football club would make this the biggest revolution since graeme souness and walter smith breezed into town in '86,only difference is warbs and weir are doing it without a big budget, superb!

2.) 12 Jul 2016 12:04:06
He was always going to sign but I can't see how you put this ahead of someone like Barton. The gaffer would be here regardless he has another two years left on his deal (now three) . Delighted that the gaffer has signed a new deal but in reality it doesn't mean anything. He will have a decent buy out clause and if someone from England wants him and he wants the move he will go and that's why I don't know why you value it so much. Kranjcar and Barton are the best signings for me this summer. Not sure what kind of deal McParland is on but he's a guy I'd like to tie down for the long term as well, an unsung hero at Ibrox at the moment vital component for our signings.

3.) 12 Jul 2016 12:31:50
RossW, You cannot see how put ahead of Barton, well would barton and kranjcar both of whom you obviously rate very highly have arrived if Warburton was not here? Also to date Warburton has done what he was brought for others have still to prove that.
You also say that signing another deal means nothing and then go on to say you would like Mcparland also to sign extension.?

4.) 12 Jul 2016 13:00:02
They wouldn't have arrived if MCPARLAND wasn't here. You could be default be petty and say "well he wouldn't be here without MW" which just defaults back to none of them would be there without King and the current board. How can a resigned contract of a year extension, which everyone expected because he would have had to accept 6k a week for two years otherwise, be more significant than a permanent new player signing of the calibre of Barton or Kranjcar? MW would have been here regardless of the extension. The extension is meaningless in the sense that if a club from England wants him they would get him anyway it adds nothing more than boosted wages to MW which he deserves. What part of that can't you process? If someone from down south wants him they will offer whatever his buyout clause is and if he wants to go he will. Three year deal won't prevent that if it happens. That's why its not at significant as MW. Last summer, yes best signing by far but how can you put a resign in that category when we are bringing in players like Barton who I'd say was the biggest signing by a mile. I say we should tie McParland down mainly because I state I have no idea what kind of contract he is on for all I know he has a year left and will leave next season but yes it is futile in the respect that we can get priced out off anyone down south.

5.) 12 Jul 2016 13:35:48
Cannot believe you do not know anything about Mcparland contract since you seem to know all about Warburtons, assume this knowledge all from newspapers, which are always spot on eh! Similarly as you seem to know all about Tavernier and Waghorns based on your previous posts almost suggesting they should be hung for having the audacity to try and improve their lot, regardless of the fact that their input last year was certainly greater than others like Wilson etc, but can only assume you know how everyone's salaries compare before knocking individuals.

6.) 12 Jul 2016 13:43:41
Good news about MW and DW contracts. Notice Kenny has spoken some wise words on life after Ibrox and expect Tav and Wag hearing message loud and clear.

7.) 12 Jul 2016 14:06:22
Honestly rossW your statement regarding mark warburton is baffling to say the least, the most important, iconic person if you like at any club is the manager especially someone of the ilk of 'the magic hat', truly mate some of your statements I really can't make head or tail of at times.

8.) 12 Jul 2016 16:20:24
I'm ranking them in order of how important the deal is. MW would be here REGARDLESS of whether or not he signed another contract. We wouldn't be talking about challenging for the league without signing the likes of Barton and that's why I said it was more important. How does that baffle you that I value the Barton deal more than MW one year extension? We could have signed a one year extension in 2 years if we wanted there was no rush, no necessity to it and that's why it's less important than you are making out. Has nothing to do with MW himself, what he brings, what he has done but how can signing a one year extension be more significant than Barton on a two year deal? All I've said about MW contract is the fact he has two years left and was on 6k a week. Common knowledge by all accounts. Have never once said anyone should be hung so if your just going to make stuff up then go for it I said everyone else had accepted deals that was offered to them and they didn't and I don't believe the board would have offered less than they were worth. I have never said that I know what any player is on other than Barton who is around 15k.

TL;DR It has nothing to do with MW and what he has done, It's not him or his contributions that I feel is insignificant. It's the fact its just an extra year which means nothing in comparison to the quality of Joey Barton and Krancjar signings have brought this summer. How can you say him signing a year extension was more important than these signings this season? That's what the whole debate was "Signing of the Summer" and all that stuff I'm reading. I just said I felt that its really no big deal that he's signed another year in comparison to the other signings we have made. Just dumb people saying "oh its the signing of the summer" **** off how can it be no one would be talking about the title if we hadn't signed Barton and Krancjar and if he didn't sign he would be here anyway its just a year extension.

Well Pedro has stated that Bates is going to be one of his 4 main centre backs this season so you better get used to him. He has done a good job just because he's not got the passing ability of Pirlo people think he is rotten. Always done well defending which is his job so I don't see what peoples problem with him is.

He seems to be tactically aware which is a good sign and was clearly one of our weaknesses. Murty appliying some tactical awareness in the team for the old firm shows we are not as weak as we think defensively when we are not exposed constantly. I think Caxinha will keep doing things that way and not just ignore the oppositions threats like our previous management.

I know what you mean though and a good start will stand him in good stead, so I hope he can walk the walk since he seems to know how to talk the talk. I refuse to write him off until he gets the time he deserves though.

Over the next 6 games? Is that all he is getting from you? Abit unfair. He will need time, he can't suddenly take over a squad which is probably sub standard and turn it around instantly. He gets until the first 6 games of NEXT season surely? No faith as a lot of people have written him off already. Seems like a decent coach and training seems more intense already. Saying things like that is beyond belief.

There is a reason big Eck has not had a job in years. He isn't very good, simple as that. I don't understand the fixation with him coming in, it's a step backwards in my opinion.
