In a way I think it's harsh on him, but realistically if we could make the money we spent on him back (or even a wee premium) it seems to me to make sense to strengthen that position given Borna is int he last year of his contract. There was certainly persistent rumours of a return to Turkey being on the cards for him since we signed him.
I'd go for Doig myself, with a view to Borna being backup for the remainder of his contract (unless we get offered a fee for him which we can reinvest in to a younger player like Panzo who is a bit more defense and can play in a couple of positions) .

I said about 3 years ago we should have went for Doig and I got slaughtered.
The boy was the ideal replacement for Borna (who I think gets a bit of a raw deal from fans, sure he isn't the best defender but I know another full back who is just as bad) .
Yilmaz for me doesn't look like an upgrade on Borna so I'd be happy to get all or most of money back.

He`s had plenty of full games and a run in the side at the back end of the season and shown very little at either end of the pitch. He`s not good enough and Borna is done, we have a major problem at left back. I find is suspicious too that he (and Davies) are "injured" but we never hear what injury it is. We have too many players who pick up these phantom injuries and I wonder if its just because they are getting criticised and can`t cope with it.

Wanted us to sign Doig years ago, that ship sailed and apparently was nowhere near good enough. Similar with Ferguson, wasn't good enough apparently. Now many other Seria A clubs sniffing about them! Blue Dreamer you haven`t been reading much on here, Davies gets slated regularly and most seem to think that he should be gone. To be fair most of the players get it at some point, all have their fans and all have their detractors, that's football.

Neither Sakala or Davies are good enough.
Effort shouldn't be lauded, it's a minimum expectation. In Sakala, it comes with a lack of quality that doesn't move us forward.
As I've said before, the yardstick for us is "would play x get into the Celtic team", because that's what we need to wrestle back the league, better players than them in enough positions.
Sakala wouldn't even make their bench (nor would Davies) .
Likeable characters, for sure and no-one wishes them any ill, they're just not good enough for what we need going forward.

If that’s the case I’ll have a wee look at him and how he plays, I know he plays for Arsenal and he’s been linked on here for quite a bit- but I never went out my way to watch him with MB saying he’s ok with the defence and spending so much on strikers I didn’t know if there would be enough left to buy not just any defender the right defender-But with the same old mistakes getting made. Sakala is good enough to make matchday squad. He scores and set up chances and makes chances out of nothing. Yeah technically he’s poor at times and misses a fair few chances but we can’t let every Goalscorer we have leave.

I'll say it again, attitude and commitment are not attributes to be lauded, they're minimum, non negotiable expectations.
Any one of us off here would give the same attitude and commitment to the club.
When it matters, quality wise, he's terrible. I don't know anyone who has been involved at any decent level of football that thinks Sakala is good enough. It seems 3 Rangers managers now agree.
He makes the same mistakes now that he did 2 years ago when he signed, so he's not even getting any better.
Nice lad and we all want him to do well, say this is no reflection him personally, but given two years of history if he's a regular in our team then we'll suffer the same outcome as last season.
I'll remind everyone his decent numbers have come at a time when we've won 1 trophy from 8 overall and they've won 5 in that time Sakala has contributed these numbers. The numbers he has aren't the problem, it's the ones he doesn't the he should have. If we want to bridge that gap, we need better in the forward areas, people who when it matters, will deliver.

Fully agree, Blue Dreamer and I don't see the support accepting another season of Celtic Dominance in 2023 / 2024.
We have been fortunate to have McGregor, Davis and Arfield since all three were top class, but they are now in the twilight of their careers and need replacing. (we probably also need a back up keeper depending on what happens with McCrorie since imo McLaughlin just isn't a Rangers quality keeper) .
We need to see players of the quality of McGregor and Davis, when they were in their prime, as the minimum acceptable standard of any player that we sign.
I am encouraged by the signing of Cantwell and Raskin and would hope that we sign Tilman on a permanent contract, however with a number of players at the ned of their contracts, (potentially including Kent and Morelos), we will need to be clever in the Transfer Market this Season, both in terms of who comes in and how is transferred out. In that respect I reckon that Gilmour would be an ideal acquisition and if that was just on a Season long loan then so be it and I would love to see us secure Carvalho as well. Only time will tell.

It very easy to say money can be spent elsewhere ie on the pitch. Bit most understand ffp and its impact.
Yes money was well spent imo. Folk seem to forget majority of costs were funded by selling land we owned for housing. Yes cost rose in construction industry because of covid. That happened all over.
The money raised was capital receipts so unlikely it can be used for revycosts.
Museu corporate lounges sports bar essential to increasing revenue.
